Deliver or Else

When a network plans a project, several factors are considered. First, the chosen talents must fit the material on hand. Second, marketing plans consider the attractiveness of the talents to the audience. Third, sometimes, the fan base plays a major factor. If a talent meets all three factors, then that talent is assured of good exposure in a project.

In one of the network’s projects, the production team combined the two of the country’s finest actresses, whose acting cannot be questioned. As long as a project calls for drama, the names of these actresses would always make the cut. The two are highly convincing when they play their roles. Regardless of being the protagonist or antagonist, the two could gain sympathy or hatred from the audience. However, a project also must bring in an audience that would be interested in the younger generation of talents. Earnest Actor (EA) fits this part.

The network, however, was not prepared for the reception of the project as the story developed. The ratings were becoming competitive, which means the writers have to keep the plot as interesting as possible to sustain and gain more viewers. The dramatic scenes were written out to ensure the fast pace of the story. Thus, the cast had to cope with the big scenes and deliver well especially in scenes with the two actresses.

Being the newest among the young talents in the project, EA has yet to realized fully his acting ability. Unfortunately, he has been identified as causing delay in the taping because of having to repeat the scenes more than twice. In one incident, EA could not get the required emotion, which made Senior Actress (SA) curse out of frustration. EA also has a hard time coping with the Other Senior Actress (OS) in their scenes. However, SA has allegedly expressed that she no longer wants to have scenes with EA, as his acting is way below the standard set by his colleagues.

The statement of SA added jitters to the production crew, who feared that she might just quit out of exasperation. The role of SA is important in the project and if she leaves, the story will be lame. Thus, the production is seriously considering killing off the character of EA, which could ease them of the burden of having so many delays due to retakes. Unless EA shapes up immediately, his appearance may indeed be shortened. Of course, there is a drawback. EA has a following and if his character is gone, his fans might no longer watch the drama. Consequently, the ratings might be affected and bashing might proliferate in social media. This dilemma is such a production nightmare.

‘Just because we're on schedule is no reason to shoot bad acting. Someone once said to me, 'You're inconsiderate.' And I said, 'Inconsiderate? Bad acting is the ultimate inconsideration.' It's a collective slap to a million faces at the same time.’ - Debra Winger

Philippines Will Now Require Car Seats for Babies and Toddlers

Child safety must be a priority, says Philippine TV’s sweetheart Camille Prats Yambao

Resting for a while after her daughter Nala was born in September 2017, Camille Prats Yambao is now back to work, and with a purpose. The busy young mom’s latest project helps to create awareness for the “Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act of 2017,” approved by the House of Representatives last year, and is now for deliberation in the Senate. This comes at an important time, because in the Philippines alone, it is reported that an average of more than 600 children have died in road crashes from 2006 to 2014.

To help raise awareness for children’s safety when travelling, Philippine TV’s beloved princess, Camille Prats Yambao is partnering with a well-known global quality manufacturer of baby car seats, strollers, high chairs, and baby carriers.

"I believe that safety is important, especially when we're on the road with our children,” says Prats Yambao. “That's why I am so thankful that finally, we will soon be required to make sure our babies and children are protected while they are riding in vehicles. It's also great that Joie, one of the best brands trusted by parents around the world for this purpose, is also now available here in the Philippines."

Just how important are car seats for babies and kids? According to the World Health Organization, a good car safety system with rear-facing restraint can reduce the risk of injury for children aged 0-4 by 80 to 90%. Compared to having only a seat belt, where the risk of injury for children is reduced only by 32%.

“I know that here in the Philippines, a lot of parents are not used to putting their babies and toddlers in car seats, but in other countries it has been required for a long time already, because of the safety factor. So it’s about time that we focus on keeping our children safe when travelling,” says Prats-Yambao. “Using the Joie car seat gives me peace of mind, and greater mobility too, while riding in the car. At least I don’t have to carry the baby all the time while on the road – which is less hassle for me, and keeps the baby calm and happy,” she adds.

Since 2011, Joie has been making safety products for babies and toddlers worldwide. Popular in the UK, Europe and Middle East, the company’s high quality products are now available in the Philippines through their authorized distributor, Europlay Distributor Co. Inc.

Camille Prats Yambao recommends Joie's Every stage car seat, which received the 2017 Mother & Baby Gold Best Car Seat (Group 1+) and 2016 Best Baby and Toddler Gear Consumer Choice: Gold (Group 0-1-2-3 Car Seat). The Every Stage car seat is the ultimate transporter that makes growing up easy from birth to twelve years. Grows every which way for every which stage. Beginning as a rearward facing seat from birth to 18kg and converting to a forward facing seat from 9-36kg.

Camille currently uses and loves her newest Pact Lite stroller. An exclusive one-hand fast and flat fold stroller package. One of the smallest when collapsed. Comes with a custom carry bag and strap, ready to travel even on an airplane.

“I love to carry my baby, but let's face it – when you go to the mall and you have to walk very long distances, carrying 15 kilograms or more for even just a few minutes can put stress on my back, which can actually be prevented when we use the stroller, so I really love to use it. When we visit our friends or go to other people’s houses, the baby stays in the stroller, and has her own space instead of putting her on the sofa or wherever,” shares Prats Yambao.

For the young mother, the best part is that the products made by Joie are light enough to carry, quick to store into the car trunk or small spaces, and are built to last for a very long time. “Safety begins with Joie” is the company’s motto, and for Camille Prats Yambao, that promise convinced her to partner with them.

“You can't really put a price on your children's safety, but I'm glad that Joie’s products are cost-effective and definitely worth it," she says with confidence.

Repost: Katarina Rodriguez is 1st Runner-up in Miss Intercontinental 2017

Katarina Rodriguez was a whisker away from making history on Wednesday (Manila time) as she placed first runner-up in the Miss Intercontinental 2017 pageant.

Rodriguez finished behind Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico during the coronation night held at the SUNRISE Garden Beach Resort in Hurghada, Egypt.

Here are the winners:

Miss Intercontinental 2017 - Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico

1st runner-up - Katarina Rodriguez of Philippines

2nd runner-up - Cathelijne Heppenhuis of Netherlands

3rd runner-up - Amanda Cardoso of Brazil

4th runner-up - Lizeth Villanueva of Colombia

5th runner-up - Lee Su Jin of Korea

'MERAKI'

During the question and answer portion, Rodriguez was asked what is the most important thing that she learned in joining Miss Intercontinental.

Her answer was "The most important thing that I have learned in joining Miss Intercontinental is an Arabic word named after one of the Sunrise Resorts and that is Meraki. It means to do all things with passion, soul, and creativity."

"When I heard this word and its definition, it resonated with me 'til now and I think it will for the rest of my life. Therefore, that is the most important thing I learned while participating at Miss Intercontinental."

"That is to do all things with soul, passion, and creativity."

During the pageant's finals night, the 24-year-old Filipina was also declared as Miss Intercontinental Asia and Oceania. She placed third in the pageant's online voting.

Rodriguez first came to prominence when she joined cycle 2 of Asia's Next Top Model in 2014 and came in second place.

The Philippines, despite its status as a powerhouse in the world of pageantry, has never won the elusive Miss Intercontinental title.

The closest, before Rodriguez, was back in 2015 when Christi Lynn McGarry also finished 1st runner-up.

Revealing Manner

When Smart Celebrity (SC) was starting out in his career, his life story was often played up to inspire the public. He did not have connections in the industry nor did his family have the wealth to support him. SC started with nothing and worked hard to provide for his family. The network gave him many opportunities to shine. From soaps to movies, SC patiently made a name for himself.

While his peers started to spend their money without regard for the future, SC first made sure that his family would be well taken care of and thus, he fixed his family relations first. Only when his family was secure that he started to look after his own interests. Fortunately, SC realized that a career in the entertainment industry was only as good as the last project. Instead of spending his earnings on fleeting things, he invested in businesses. Eventually, his investments paid off, but his acting career had already reached its peak. Soon, his slot in the network was replaced by younger and more exciting talents.

As SC tried to stay away from public eye, he is too recognizable not to be noticed in more ways than one. First, people have wondered why love seemed to elude him. As his industry batchmates have all settled down, he still has no family of his own. However, they do not as much money as SC has. Second, people who have followed his career are wondering if he has changed from being humble to having a crass personality. When he was in one of his investments, people noticed that he was not too nice on the staff. Allegedly, he was cranky and given them his attitude. This action is far different from the pleasant image he has built throughout his career and that which endeared fans to him.

Thus, even rumors of his sexuality are being linked to his being cranky. Time and again, people think that he has hiding in the closet and the inability to free himself is making him difficult to be with and rude in replying to netizens.

‘It's easy to get negative because you get beat down. You go through a few disappointments and it's easy to stay in that negative frame of mind. Choosing to be positive and having a grateful attitude is a whole cliche, but your attitude is going to determine how you're going to live your life.’ -- Joel Osteen
