Very Important Reminders

During a crucial number, Professional Singer (PS) could not reach the high notes because she was so distracted at the smelly microphone she was using. As it was too late to change microphones, given that PS was in front of an audience, she did her best to be a trooper. However, inhaling proved to be her downfall and PS felt like in front of her was a dead rat and every breath she took was like taking in the smell of death. The smell was putrid enough to keep distracting her, and thus, her performance was not her usual.
As soon as her number was done, PS started reprimanding the person in-charge of all the microphones for their show. PS continued to lecture on hygiene and disinfecting the equipment for the next performer. The staff could not really say much and merely agreed to the litany of PS on making sure their microphones won’t ever smell that bad again.
PS suspected that the last one to use the microphone might be the culprit and tracing back the order of performances, PS realized who her suspect was. Although disappointed, PS was no longer surprised. However, she pursued to remind the staff and told them to tell the other performers to gargle with mouthwash prior to performing. Despite saying a mouthful, PS could not get over the smell and asked her assistant to bring her mouthwash so she could get rid of the smell, which she though had gotten absorbed by her mouth.
Well, the staff had long known that Seasoned Talent (ST) has a bad smell coming out of his mouth. Although ST is conscious of his problem, which could be the result of medical issues, generating the smell can be a major problem. Thus, even gargling with mouthwash might not solve his problem. Nonetheless, given that situation, the staff would wipe off the microphone and other equipment ST used with alcohol. It’s just unfortunate that the day PS used the same microphone was hectic and the staff was unable to clean the microphone.
Incidentally, what happened to PS is not an isolated incident. Lapses in cleaning the microphone previously used by ST have led to other seasoned female singers complaining about the smell sticking on the microphone as well. To resolve the matter, the production team decided to assign and label a microphone only for the exclusive use of PS.

Repost: Renewal of ABS-CBN Franchise in the Hands of Congress, Not the President

The renewal of ABS-CBN Corp's franchise will be up Congress, not President Rodrigo Duterte, his spokesman said Thursday.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the remark when asked about the case of rival broadcaster TV5, whose franchise lapsed into law. A bill granting a fresh franchise to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines also lapsed into law without the President's signature.
"But ABS-CBN ang expiration next year pa eh, tsaka Congress naman. Nasa Kongreso ang bola niyan, hindi naman kay Presidente."
(ABS-CBN's franchise will expire next year and that will depend on Congress not the President.)
Duterte has criticized ABS-CBN for allegedly not airing a 2016 campaign that he paid for and instead showing a TV spot that was critical of him and was paid by his critic, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
The franchise of the Lopez-led network will expire in March 2020.
