Likely to Lose or to Push

However, regardless of these strategies, TN could not rise above its current place.
Despite the odds, TN continued with various combinations of programs. Some shows were cancelled even if they were the ones rating. Other shows were cooked up. A few months ago, TN announced that it was embarking on its biggest project, which was the Filipino adaptation of a popular American teen drama thriller. The adaptation would serve as a vehicle for the homegrown talents of TN. However, as soon as the news was floated, a clamor not to pursue the project emerged from social media. Fans of the foreign series echoed the usual fears, such as the version will be of poor quality and the lack of originality.
Early this year, TN issued a denial that the adaptation will not push through. Now, TN recently released its program lineup, and the said adaptation was not in the list. Thus, some kibitzers could not help but comment that someone might have lied. Allegedly, those who were promised this assignment are left in limbo: Should they remain hopeful and stay on or should they look for other projects?
Incidentally, TN generated its largest viewership when it aired various sports programs. At one point, the ratings soared higher than the other programs of the other networks at the same time. This development prompted the idea of TN to prioritize sports over other genres. Perhaps, TN should focus on a specific type to establish its identity, which would assure its niche among the viewers.

Wasting Their Relationship
Often, when a child decides to pursue his/her own path, parents either supportive or resentful. Sadly, this showbiz father-daughter tandem opted for the latter.
When young character actress (YC) vowed to take charge of her career path, her celebrity father (CF) did not take his daughter’s decision lightly. He looked at her decision as an open defiance of his authority as a father. CF refused to support the dreams of YC, and thus, she had to spend her own savings to support herself abroad.
Well, YC apparently did not want to work with her father, which is not surprising. While CF and YC acknowledge each other as parent and child, YC did not grow up with him. There was even a time when she was more famous than he was, and even had a more stable career, too. Soon, her acting prowess was recognized with several awards. However, her relationship forced her to take things slowly. Unfortunately, her marriage crumbled, but she was blessed with a child, who is her pride and joy. Now, her projects are fewer, and she appears rarely on screen.
Meanwhile, CF continued with his generous image by giving away so much money to other people. Recently, CF gave a substantial amount to support a glamorous project of a senior mover in showbiz. Despite rumors hounding his irresponsible ways of handling his finances, he counters such stories with his businesses. It seems that CF has an unlimited supply of money.
Sometime ago, YC was spotted taking a cab. Onlookers wondered why CF could be so generous to others, while his own flesh and blood has to live with less. CF could very well give YC a car in a snap, but would YC accept such gift? It is sad that even though CF is rich, his own child refuses to have anything to do with him. Nonetheless, the question is if either will soften up or will they continue to be hard on each other’s feelings until the end of time?
The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege. - Charles Kuralt
