Sorry, We’re Not Buying
Media Executive (ME) instructed a member of her staff (HS) to present a marketing proposal for a high-end automobile brand. In exchange for featuring the brand in its various magazines, ME requested for a car. HS did her part and delivered what was expected. However, the automobile company rejected the offer. ME got irked when she heard the explanation and rejection of HS. ME reprimanded HS and berated the staff for not doing the work properly.
Perhaps feeling slighted by the rejection, ME just wouldn't budge. She did the unexpected and decided to do the presentation herself and again, requested for the ex-deal. Sadly, the car company was firm in its decision and declined the offer the second time around. ME left very disappointed and embarrassed. As the head of the company, it is not in her job description to do what she did for she has a staff to take care of such matters. And yet, even she got rejected. Certainly, the act only made ME look cheap and desperate.
Well, at least, ME gave it a shot. However, getting mad at the staff was uncalled for. Did not ME realize that the automobile company might still be trying to re-establish itself after it closed shop some years ago? Hence, exchanging one of their cars for ad placements did not seem like a sound investment at that point.

Excited Screen Partner
The friend again smiled at SP's message and wondered why she wanted to be with YA that night. Rumors have it that YA possesses something interesting. Does that something make SP excited? Whatever it is that makes SP fond of YA will keep us guessing. However, just recently, YA denied that something other than friendship is happening between him and SP. This comment of SP disappointed many fans hoping that their partnership in an afternoon soap would result to something real. SP and YA do look good together. SP added that both of them are looking forward to getting paired off with other performers.

Chatterbox Newcomer Exposes Pal's Secret
As the soap began airing and tapings were done regularly, both TA and BY admitted to getting closer to one another. Gradually their closeness developed into something more serious. TA and BY were falling in love and have kept their relationship a secret. Presently, both are aware that they are not yet allowed to get into a bf-gf status owing to their very young age. Then, CB for reasons only known to him told BY's parents about her having a relationship with TA. BY's parents were so upset upon learning of the affair, and worse, having everything hidden from them. The parents think both were too young to get into anything serious, believing that such a relationship might distract them from their careers.
Naturally, TA felt betrayed by CB. He thought they were friends all along having been working together in the series. He never thought for a second that CB would squeal on them. TA felt so bad that he wanted to get even. And he did so by revealing CB’s “dirty little secrets” to their friends. Secrets that are so sensitive involving non-showbiz and innocent people.
Sadly, at their young age, TA, BY, and CB are already caught in the web of secrets, mistrust, and betrayal.

Letter from a Reader: Wrong Credit
Assunta de Rossi-Ledesma, 2012 SONA
Assunta de Rossi-Ledesma, 2011 SONA
I am an aspiring fashion designer. I built my clientele over the years thru referrals without using and hiring any PR to do it for me. I am a one-woman show.
I have no paid advertisement to any form of media except some features in Bridal Magazines. Those were struggling years indeed, that paid off eventually in the end.
It is a great experience and pride to get noticed by celebrities and other high-profile personalities and get me to make clothes for them.
One of them is my friend Assunta de Rossi - Ledesma who tasked me to create gowns for her for the SONA 2011 and 2012.
Both gowns were featured in Stylebible.ph, and I was quite proud of that. Being new in the fashion industry, having my creation featured in that fashion magazine was certainly big an achievement. However an "error" was committed as the dress was credited in favor of Mr. Rajo Laurel.
I hate to think that this is a common practice done by some known and pompous designer towards a fellow designer of my status.
I am sharing this with you so that other designers will be forewarned. This negligence that has not been rectified may cause me to lose opportunities.
Thank you very much, Fashion PULIS for taking the time to accommodate this letter in your blog.
Respectfully yours,
Sheryl Vicente

Must Show Her Worth
First, there's a story about how CW seemed to have been infatuated with a boy from her campus (the FB link to prove this seems to have been deleted already), which she claimed to have run after for quite a while. Thus, she was then branded as "boy-crazy." However, she denies she actually felt something for a fellow housemate. Second, CW is not in good terms even with a family member as she sees him quite “weird,” even though he is accomplished in his own right. There's also talk about how CW allegedly used money to pay for all the contests she joined in to make sure she'd win the slot. The worst part, according to the FP reader is how CW allegedly misused the funds allotted to her as a public servant.
As soon as CW can prove she can gather the fans and the fame to sustain her in the business, then by all means, these controversies will simply die a natural death. Of course, unless her handlers think the negative publicity can be good for her career. Do you think CW was deserving to be the big winner, and will she rise up to the challenge to be as popular as the winners of the previous seasons?

She Gave Up on Her Man
This development is indeed sad. Sometime ago, stories had it that AA’s family did not like AW, who has a reputation for being overly friendly with boys. However, AA remained steadfast and fought for their relationship. Of course, this fighting became literal at one time. At the start of their relationship, AA got into a fistfight with another actor who thought he could get away with flirting with AW.
At the moment, AA is still hoping that he and AW could still patch things up. But apparently, any reconciliation is far from AW's mind. It seems that she has already decided that there will not be another chance. While AA and AW have yet to speak up, someone close to AA has sent cryptic messages via a social networking site. Words like “relationship killers,” “trust issues,” “assumptions,” “jealousy,” “lack of communication,” among others were included in the message. Are these in reference to the end of the relationship of AA and AW?

Unexpected Rage of the Singer
While she waited in the dressing room, YD was informed that her favorite makeup artist (MUA) would not be around to attend to her. MUA was not informed early enough that YD would be in the show.
Hence, it would be the in-house makeup artist (IM) who would prep her up. As expected, the absence of her MUA added to YD's foul mood.
But of course, YD could not just flare up knowing that she had an image to protect. The presence of other performers in the dressing room further made it all the more difficult for her.
When her makeup was done, YD went to the restroom. She was followed by her mother to help her fit into her gown.
Within minutes, YD was overheard screaming and cursing at her mother. She was ranting at how bad her makeup was, and that it did not fit her gown at all. She added that she looked ugly.
Few minutes after, she came out wearing casual clothes instead of the gown. Turned out, this outfit was more appropriate for her promotional number with the two other singers.
What could have brought YD's rage that day? Was her anger really just about her makeup? Or was she sending a strong message to her mother with whom she's reported to have had a tiff lately?
Can you identify who YD is? Please abide by the RULES in writing comments if you want them to be posted. Initials and comments that are too explicit will not be accepted.

Pretentious Behavior of the Actress
Struggling actress (SA) had already made the rounds of networks. SA changed her screen name and switched managers. Soon after, she changed image and graced the covers of magazines. She had her share of controversy, including a big one which involved a lead actress SA was doing a teleserye with. But such was still insufficient to make an impact for people to remember her. In other words, SA is still having tough luck in local showbiz. Could this situation have something to do with her attitude?
In a big event/contest sponsored by an entertainment magazine, SA made it to the top list. During the interview, she was asked how she felt to be included in the top choice. Her reply caught the reporters off guard. SA said in a rather arrogant manner that she had no idea why she was even included in the list because she believes she is not at all beautiful! The people who heard her thought SA was a bit too arrogant. They felt the false humility in her answer since a simple “thank you” would have sufficed.
Can you identify who SA is? Please abide by the RULES in writing comments if you want them to be posted. Initials and comments that are too explicit will not be accepted.

Dating Models
Female model (FM) and male model (MM) were recently spotted together at a bar. The two have one thing in common: both are healing from broken relationships. Hence, there was nothing to worry about them being seen together. The second thing they share is that they came from high-profile relationships, which were rumoured to be leading to marriage at its peak. The third element is that their former partners were an item during their teens. How ironic!
Anyway, at the bar, MM was his usual sociable self. Despite the language barrier, he made it a point to talk to another female guest at the bar. Within minutes, FM interrupted their conversation. The guest took that as a cue to stay away from MM. The guest wondered if something was developing between FM and MM. Why was FM territorial that night, anyway? Who would not be? MM is one hunk who always looks good regardless of what he wears, and MM has no qualms about being emotional on cam. Besides, she can very well match the height of MM.
Can you identify who FM and MM are? Please abide by the RULES in writing comments if you want me to post them. Initials and comments that are too explicit will not be accepted.

Bad Attitude
Take the case of a romance-comedy actress (RC), who has gained fame by portraying underdog roles and clicking onscreen with one of the hottest leading men of her network. In real life, RC found a match with a hunk of their network. Sometime ago, the station organized a show in one of the cities that is heavily populated with Filipinos.
Some fans requested if they could meet the talents of the network. The mother of one of the fans wanted to meet RC in person. Their contact instructed them to go to the hotel where the stars were staying. At the lobby, the fans saw other talents who gamely posed with them for photos. The atmosphere was festive because all the performers were gracious and accommodating except for one. Right! Although RC was there, the fans noticed she was not mingling with the crowd. In fact, they all felt she was a snob and did not exert any effort to be pleasing to the fans.
The mother of the fan approached RC and politely asked if she could have a picture with her. RC just stood like a dead tree and did not even acknowledge the elderly. The fan and her mother felt that RC was irked over some matter. At any rate, the mother even thanked RC and again, RC did not bother to acknowledge. The fan then told her mother that RC had no right to act that way because she was not yet famous. The rude behavior then made the fan and her family vow never to patronize any project of RC.
Although this incident happened sometime ago, the fan and her family can still recall the shabby treatment RC gave them. Since that time, RC was able to reach the position of being a favorite talent of the network. However, it's been taking a while for her to appear on primetime as her last teleserye ended almost year ago.The longer it takes for her to appear on the evening slot, the greater is the chance that her luster will wane.

Fusing Function with Fashion
I am so satisfied with my new Dell laptop. Dell unveiled its ultra-portable XPS 13 laptop, the most compact 13.3-inch Ultrabook featuring an edge-to-edge glass, near “frameless” display, all-day battery life. It is so cool because I'm able to do more without fear of my laptop shutting down. Yes, a superb overall user experience.
I can say that my new Dell XPS 13's design is just beyond beautiful. I love to tinker with prettty gadgets, inspires me to work more to get more things done. And the thin and sleek size makes it very easy and convenient for me to bring it anywhere, as I am a very mobile person.
Blogging has since been a walk in the park, as Dell delivers powerful performance and screen space into a compact body, to the carbon fiber base that is lightweight and cool to the touch, with bigger screen size yet it's still the same size. Awesome.
Always up to date, it keeps my email, contacts, calendar and social networks up to date, even when my XPS 13 Ultrabook is in sleep mode. There's less hassle updating programs, because its technology' does it automatically.
With ordinary unit, the monitor turns off when it is kept idle for long. And then when you want to use it again, it takes time for the screen to re-appear. With Intel technology, the laptop 'wakes' up faster, it's never delayed
With Dell, fashion and technology are not far apart but closely interwoven. And in instances like this event, are linked like peas in a pod. What great experience!

Keeping His Confidence
However, CS also had his share of the usual publicity, that success has gotten into his head. His defenders were there to counter that such rumors were false. Another story is that people who know CS are afraid that he might lose his voice at the rate he is indulging in a not so-good habit. Allegedly, CS always takes something before he can perform at his gigs. One time, while he was performing onstage, CS was noticed to seem to not be in control of his movements. Some viewers speculated that he might have taken too much of something that made him extra-hyper.
Is it possible that CS is under a lot of pressure for him to resort to such behavior or is he plainly living up to the stereotype of the rocker, which can eventually ruin his career?
Can you identify who CS is? Please abide by the RULES in writing comments if you want me to post them. Initials and comments that are too explicit will not be accepted.

TV5, Its Stars and Shows - What's Ahead?
It was just two years ago when TV5 under a new and aggressive control of businessman Manny Pangilinan made a grand debut on Philippine television. What happened after the launch made a big impact on everyone in the industry - insiders, players and observers. Not to mention, the network rivals who did not see the cash giant coming. For people behind TV5 began talking to stars and their managers to offer deals that were just too hard to resist. Star piracy became a daily buzz word and order of the day. For truly, they walked the talk, and the industry was jolted like never before. TV5 projected an endless cash flow image to whoever it sees fit to engage in their network.
Stars and their managers were all agog, quick to the draw, sending feelers that they were available for a deal of a lifetime. And who wouldn't be blown away by sky-high talent fees, four to seven times bigger, laid beautifully before anyone willing to be tempted.
And so it went. Stars, both popular and has-been knocked at MVP's door, signed up and were stamped a new name - Kapatid, TV5's new catchword. Soon they were given projects, and cameras began rolling. Everyone was happy and excited. Everything was just too good to be true. TV5 produced shows for their new talents. But it ended there.
After two years, came the painful, horrifying truth: TV5 is losing money - by the billions. The reason is a dead give-away: hardly anyone is watching their shows. Rating is single digit. No audience. No advertisers. Their stars remain unpopular, and worse, those whose stars were still shining prior to the transfer have dimmed soon after. What gives?
With the exception of some: Talentadong Pinoy, Who Wants to be a Millionire, Face-to-Face, the rest of TV5 programs leave a lot to be desired. One viewer's collective assumption says it all: "Shows are stupid, mediocre, shallow, lack creativity and are devoid of quality. TV5 is banking on the idea that all Filipinos are stupid and poor."
Suddenly it dawned on everyone that it's not just the stars that guarantee network profitability. Indeed, some serious thought could have been done prior to executing major decisions. They focused on contracting has-beens at mind-boggling talent fees, but forgot to hire competent minds to run and get the shows going. That was the biggest blunder. No production can make a show succeed if it lacks the skills of brilliant and creative writers, talented directors, and all the right minds that will ensure the quality and content of the program. Otherwise, the show is doomed.
Stars have to be packaged with utmost caution and foresight, to know their professional strengths and weaknesses not just give them projects without thought and study. They should be given regular workshops to further hone and fine-tune their skills. Competition is getting harsher by the day, no one is sacred to be spared.
Rival networks like ABS-CBN and GMA invest so much in their talents and creatives. Not only are workshops done on a regular basis - both the shows and the stars - especially those from Kapamilya are aggressively marketed locally and globally. These translate to not a few endorsements and international projects for the deserving ones.
The planned buying/merging with GMA7 sounds not a brilliant idea if done for the wrong reasons. Doing it to limit and restrain the competition may not be good enough as everyone knows how globally well-placed, unstoppable and aggressive ABS-CBN can be.
What TV5 should do instead is to hire the best minds and pay them accordingly. Along with directors, it's about time that writers, these unsung heroes, are given their just dues.
What about the stars' gargantuan talent fees? I should say that anything or any work that is solely motivated by money will not bring in the best desired results. Proof? It's so close to home, no further proof is needed.
That is why their upcoming star search called Artista Academy with yet another mind-boggling twenty million-peso pot for the top prize sounds like another disaster and embarrassment waiting to happen. Nothing, certainly not the lure of that kind of money can bring out the best talent in anyone, unless talent is properly motivated, nurtured and expertly handled.
We really wish the best for TV5. Mr. Pangilinan has definitely shown to one and all how astute and great a businessman he is. May all his tv investments bear good fruits, in terms of acquiring the best talents and people in the industry.
And these people should better be sure that they deserve to be housed in that P6 billion worth of new TV5 corporate headquarters and studios soon to be completed within the year.
