Is It Not the End?

Everyone knows that the entertainment industry aka showbiz is big business – and the drive for profit by the people behind it is as intense as if there’s no tomorrow. Those in the know remark that never has local showbiz been as insanely profitable as it is today since the last two (2) decades. Stars enjoy fantastic talent fees, numerous sponsorships for almost all their needs ( from head to toe) courtesy of various consumer companies, the wonders of technology for global reach, and the support of loyal fans who lionize them.
Expectedly, industry bigwigs are quite astute in handling their celebrity talents, taking pains to invest in them. Stars have become commodities that need to be developed to its full potential and promoted for marketability and of course… profit.
On the other hand, stars make every effort to up their value by being relevant and interestingly pleasant. On top of that, they have to nurture their fans for their love and loyalty make the difference. All of those must be in place, or stars face the painful consequence of being placed in the freezer, so to speak. Such is the fate of young Seasonal Actress SA.
For quite a time, SA was the toast of her network – young, hot and pretty – the network capitalized on it, and thus prepared SA for big projects that mostly paired her off with Hot Actor HA. Their team-up proved to be a success and soon, projects came one after another.
However, after several hits, the success of their team-up failed to gain momentum. But her Network Bosses NB were kind enough to give her more chances, even paired her with a Big Star BS abroad. Unfortunately, even that project was a major flop. Still after that, she was given a follow-up project with HA, which again proved to be a dud, not even able to recover production cost. Before SA knew it, she felt her stars really dimming with less projects landing on her lap.
The latest buzz had it that NB decided that SA be put on hold – meaning, apart from television guestings and other minor stuff, she would not be given big ones like soaps and movies for the meantime. NB further remarked that the network has to prioritize and concentrate on their younger stars who are way more promising with big fan base.
People close to her advise SA that she better make her moves while she’s still considerably young. The competition is getting scarier by the day. Surely no star would want to be called the scariest word they dread to hear – that of a has-been.

Pushing Her Daughter into Controversy

Showbiz watchers frown at parents who drive their children to work hard to fend for the family. Worse are parents who control the financial and relationship aspects of their children. However, worst are parents who do not do anything, but wait for their children’s next paycheck and spend it as if there’s no tomorrow. While a number of child stars are often left in the dark when they realize that their parents did not spend their earnings wisely, other actors are lucky as their parents wisely invested their earnings.
Now, a recently-revealed mother (RR) has succumbed to the pressure of letting her controversial young daughter (CY) to gain attention so she can be talked about. RR even gave her blessing for CY to entertain a reality show discovery (SD). Allegedly, RR gave the green light for CY to be sort of intimate with SD, so that they can be asked if something is brewing between them. After all, having a loveteam and injecting a bit of controversy in a relationship increase the curiosity of the public and showbiz reporters who can write about them.
Why is RR pushing her daughter to get a foothold in showbiz? The answer is quite simple: RR’s career is not faring well these days. After she introduced CY to the media, her career seems to have taken a backseat. While she has the looks and talent, the projects are not as regular as before. Actually, RR has had her own controversies from alleged substance abuse to exciting relationships with different types of people. With her daughter trying to make a name for herself, will RR be a stagemother?

As it is said, there’s nothing like show business, an industry that thrives on good looks, politics and peopled by the most complex of personalities. To be in showbiz can be both a blessing and a curse, a boon or bane. Yet, despite some perceived negativity, people gravitate to showbiz like bees to honey. And why not, the financial gains are nothing to scoff at. The demands of the job are nothing compared to all the perks and power that go with it.
But not all celebrities are created the same. While others are humbled by their stardom, many of them are demonized by the trappings of their status. One of them is this Vexatious Personality VP who has been lucky to be blessed big time.
VP has been in the business for years, yet stories attributed to her by showbiz watchers are anything but pleasant. From her annoying presence, to her much-talked about arrogance, to the way she treats fans and ordinary people, there seems hardly anything good about her. From the way it looks, VP has gotten calloused by them.
Her notoriety doesn’t discriminate. Anyone, even kids are not spared from incurring her ire and she torments them.
VP was invited as guest performer by the governor for their provincial event near the metro. While waiting at the holding room, VP saw a Young Child YC smiling at her and was walking towards her direction. It looked like YC wanted to approach and be near VP, but VP was quick to prevent YC from getting near her. According to the source, VP snubbed YC by putting on a big frown, like a tiger look so that YC would be scared…and true enough, YC got scared and turned around.
Before the program proper, YC who turned out to be VP’s fan was about to be introduced to her, but thinking of the snub she got earlier, YC did not want to approach VP. But VP was in for a surprise. She was told that YC was the governor’s grandchild! Although stunned, VP immediately regained her composure and went on to do was she does best: She turned 180’ and welcomed YC with open arms, peppered with hugs and kisses.

The three are facing serious illegal detention case for allegedly mauling comedian Vhong Navarro inside a condominium unit at the Bonifacio Global City (BCG) last January 22.
Navarro was allegedly invited by Cornejo to her condo unit where he was allegedly blindfolded, beaten, threatened and detained by Lee and his men.
Other reports indicated, however, an angle involving an alleged attempted rape by Navarro.
In a radio interview Monday afternoon, Cornejo’s lawyer Axel Gonzales said they have obtained a copy of the court’s resolution on the bail plea.
According to Gonzales, the gist of the 72-page resolution, which was thoroughly discussed by the court, found that Navarro’s camp “fails to prove that there is strong evidence for the continued detention of the accused.”
The court, according to the lawyer, ordered each accused to post P500,000 bail for their temporary liberty.
Lawyers Howard Calleja and Concepcion JimenezAquino, counsels for Lee, said they welcome the positive development.
“This is a big step in proving what we have been reiterating from the inception of this case which is the truth that our clients are innocent of the charges against them,” they said in a text message.
Meanwhile, lawyer Alma Mallonga, counsel for Navarro, said they are very shocked by the court’s decision.
“We are very sure that a serious crime has been committed,” Mallonga said adding that they are very confident about the evidence that have including the CCTV footage, Navarro’s testimony as well as that of the National Bureau of Investigation, among others.
She said they will file a motion for reconsideration to contest the decision.
