Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, Zimmer Raz Win Bail Plea

The Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 271 on Monday granted the bail plea of Cedric Lee, Zimmer Raz and Deniece Cornejo.

The three are facing serious illegal detention case for allegedly mauling comedian Vhong Navarro inside a condominium unit at the Bonifacio Global City (BCG) last January 22.

Navarro was allegedly invited by Cornejo to her condo unit where he was allegedly blindfolded, beaten, threatened and detained by Lee and his men.

Other reports indicated, however, an angle involving an alleged attempted rape by Navarro.

In a radio interview Monday afternoon, Cornejo’s lawyer Axel Gonzales said they have obtained a copy of the court’s resolution on the bail plea.

According to Gonzales, the gist of the 72-page resolution, which was thoroughly discussed by the court, found that Navarro’s camp “fails to prove that there is strong evidence for the continued detention of the accused.”

The court, according to the lawyer, ordered each accused to post P500,000 bail for their temporary liberty.

Lawyers Howard Calleja and Concepcion JimenezAquino, counsels for Lee, said they welcome the positive development.

“This is a big step in proving what we have been reiterating from the inception of this case which is the truth that our clients are innocent of the charges against them,” they said in a text message.

Meanwhile, lawyer Alma Mallonga, counsel for Navarro, said they are very shocked by the court’s decision.

“We are very sure that a serious crime has been committed,” Mallonga said adding that they are very confident about the evidence that have including the CCTV footage, Navarro’s testimony as well as that of the National Bureau of Investigation, among others.

She said they will file a motion for reconsideration to contest the decision.

Kawawa naman si vhong.. The rich guy has the power to make baliktad the facts.. Baka balikan siya.. Kahit maypera si vhong to hire body guards mas mayaman yung kalaban.. Haay... Sayang.. Kala ko pa naman justice will be served kahit on this case man lang

    1. correction my friend , your idol had the means to do so. Your idol, he can very well afford a lawyer. money talks therefore, i wonder why there were no takers considering that it is a very high profile case. if your idol really believed that he was telling the truth or his charges were the absolute truth, spending that money would have been money well spent. Yung idol ninyo hindi poorita corazon, na walang access sa mga resources. He also had the media mileage on his case. The case was dealt with fair and square and Judge Paz stayed true to impartiality of the law. My take on the decision, there was never a false imprisonment in the first place , there was not enough valid evidence to support the charges by the prosecution nor there were any reasonable grounds for the accused to be guilty of the offence.

    4. SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU anon 8;09 and 10:08 , but I am not related to any of them.
Is it so sad to hear the truth, that you got fooled by your idol and the network. Watching too much of shoetime actually dulls the brain. I am not a fan of anybody but I am interested in anything pertaining to the law , politics and my parent's homeland. Judge Paz has been known to be clean , fair and impartial. I do not think that she is so dumb to sully her reputation for a few pesos. Masakit ang katotohanan but para sa madlang people ng shoetime,it is up to the discretion of the court to determine and decide the outcome of the case. The court is the only arbiter of the law not the gullible or ignorant fans of EBS or shoetime, hahha, Aral lang pag may time my dear, so you can argue well your opinions, hindi lang hanngang comments ng tulog na or kamag- anak. The law libraries I guess are open to the public back home , go spend some quite time there my friends. JUDGE PAZ, Philippines need more judges like you.

    1. if it's the real unedited version it has value but if it's the edited televised version, you are right talagang walang kwenta! diba any tampered evidence is inadmissible in court. that is your answer, fantard
