It is past one in the morning and I just got home from an intimate dinner. Thanks to GG and PN for introducing me to your friends. Thank you very much to AN for being such a gracious host. I would also like to thank AN, CE and LE for being so warm and friendly. I hope to see you guys again very soon.

I will be leaving for Europe later this week and I have not finalized our flight and hotel bookings yet. I have to book our EU flights on Edreams in a while. I normally use this website because it accepts credit cards issued in the Philippines. As for hotel bookings, I prefer Booking.com because the reviews posted on this site are very helpful.

Talking about travelling, today's story took place when this actor was overseas for a show with some celebrities from his family network. He went shopping for a designer watch that he intended to give to his girlfriend as “pasalubong”. When he showed the watch to one of the actresses who was on the trip with him, he felt bad for her when he heard her say “Your girlfriend is so lucky. No one ever gives me anything.” Right there and then, the actor gave the watch to the actress as a gift without thinking twice.

I wonder if this actor ever told his girlfriend that he gave the watch that he bought for her to another actress. I am sure that she will be very insecure when she finds out about this. I just hope that she does not attack the actress on Twitter after reading this story.

Incidentally when this opinionated television host was on leave a few months ago, he learned that his co-hosts went on air discussing his break-up. After learning about this, he immediately made an irate phone call to the executive producer (EP). He repeatedly cursed the EP despite his best effort to explain to him that it was just natural for his co-host to about about the issue since it was the hottest showbiz news item at that time. Offended by the host's cussing, the EP reported the incident to the higher management that led to his temporary suspension on the show.

When he arrogantly showed up at work in spite of his suspension, his co-hosts were not really minding him. No one was on his side because everyone on the show agreed that what he did to the EP was foul and unacceptable. The co-hosts were even more irritated when he behaved like a bear with sore and kept ranting "_ _ _ _, I hate this job!" before the show was about to air. His co-hosts and the production staff gave him the cold shoulder for a few weeks to teach him a lesson.

It is somehow ironic that this host enjoys bashing other people but it would be like a red flag to a bull whenever other people talk about him. If he were onion-skinned, he should therefore consider resigning from the show.

Dear Fashion Pulis,

First of all, I would like to congratulate your for your achievements. Your ability to whet the ever-growing esurience of your numerous readers, including myself! To tell you frankly, my businessmen friends (100% male, serious, no-nonsense DAW) are your avid readers and fans! So keep up the good work.

I am writing to you because my friends talked about your post last June 27, 2011, entitled Different Wavelengths. Some of my friends told me that they saw my name there, and so I went back to read it and saw this blind item about the actress and the expatriate

I would only like to clarify a few things:

1. You did not mention a name, but you alluded to the “girl from the South,” and while some friends insist that it is me, I don’t think that I am the only girl the expatriate befriended from the South. I do admit that I went out with him, five times to be exact, but everything was platonic. This was why I got bothered by some of the comments that said, “sexually stimulating,” and “could not resist the Latino charms,” etc. So I am not so sure if I am really the girl from the South that you were referring to.

2. I am writing also to defend the actress. I am glad she did not continue her relationship with him, not because I am jealous or anything but because our trysts were mostly professional. I met him in the office when he and his partner were interviewed by my team. Yes, I admit that we did go on a few dates but there was nothing more than that because of the following reasons:

• Ang sama ng ugali niya! I am so sorry, I don’t know how to better express this, but it is very true, HE IS AN ATHEIST. A CHAUVINISTIC ATHEIST! (Lol, sounds like he dumped me, huh.) Anyway, he thinks so highly of himself, and demands for things. 

• He talks about having sex as if we were just going to the grocery, and tells me that I am a dork, that he pities me because I just cannot do it. (I am not saying I am a holy virgin here, but I have to be comfortable and in love with someone before I do it, and not because he demands it from me.) 

• Last week, he tried to meet up with me. So I said yes. And then the next day, I texted him if it was a GO. He did not reply so it was cool, I know he is a busy guy. Then the next day, he was all accusing me that I could not stick to my word, bla bla bla. I told him he didn’t reply. He insisted that he did, and then I said I always respond to everyone, and then ended up blaming the service provider. Anyway, he is a condescending person that is maybe why his many girlfriends left him, if it is true that they really did leave him. 

• Believe me or not, his breath stinks. And he wonders why I couldn’t kiss him. You can ask the actress, he may be intellectually stimulating at first, but that is all there is to it… LOL.

So there, it’s just too bad that his Latino charms did not work on me, because he is too condescending and believes that he did our country a favor when in fact, we did the company he represents a favor.

PS: The only person I know he had a sexual relationship with is this certain talent from brotherhood network who joined a VJ search. He also goes around telling people that she is a PSYCHO.

Big Things Come in Small Packages

It seems like things are getting more and more serious between these two television hosts. One time, when the father of this male TV host was hanging out with his friend, he told him that his son is having a new house built because he and his girlfriend plan to settle down soon. Upon hearing this, the clueless friend asked the father "How long have they been together?" The father was dumbfounded with the question so he suddenly blurted out "Didn't you know that he replaced his old girlfriend with a new one?"

If this were the case, this female host should stop denying that she was the cause of the break-up between the male host and his former girlfriend. It is true that their obvious difference might be awkward for some people but this does not seem to bother the female host because she is a firm believer in the saying "Big things come in small packages."

Incidentally, was Ricky Lo referring to the former girlfriend of this host in his Funfare article yesterday? He mentioned that she and another actor were spotted exchanging stolen kisses in the Business Class section of a flight from Vancouver. Do you guys have an idea as to who the actor was?

Letter From a Reader: Appearance-Based Discrimination

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I am an avid follower of your blog and I would just like to share a very irritating incident that happened yesterday afternoon. I just got off from work and my friends and I agreed to dine in a cafe in Eastwood since it was near our workplace. I was very excited to try out this cafe because it will be my first time to eat there and my friends are saying that the burgers there are really delicious.

All three of us ordered their Iced Coffee which came with two shot glasses that each contained milk and sugar syrup. These shot glasses were like miniature beakers. We were actually enjoying our meal until one of the waiters came to our table to take away the two shot glasses while uttering "Excuse me po, LIMITED EDITION po kasi ito" in a loud manner. His remark was loud enough to be heard by the other customers sitting in nearby tables. My friends and I were dumbfounded with the waiter's unnecessary remark because it was as if he was accusing us of intending to steal them.

In my opinion, this is a clear case of discrimination because the waiter's remark was offensive. Our job does not require us to wear office attire and that's why we were in our casual clothes that were very presentable. I believe that our physical appearance did not deserve any kind of insensitive remark from the waiting staff of the said burger joint.

My friends and I felt that we became victims of appearance-based discrimination. I believe that whatever a person's status is in life, he or she should not be subjected to such kind of ridicule and insult.

Unpaid Prize Money

She won the competition last November 2010. Two months later (January 2011), she finally got part of her prize money from the production company that was in charge of the said competition. She was also told she will receive the remaining balance of her prize money six months (July 2011) later.

It is almost August and she has not received any word from the production company. She tried to get in touch with the people in charge but they have been ignoring her messages. Her mom even tried sending a demand letter but it did not work either. 

This year's competition is scheduled to begin in a week's time despite the fact that last year's winner has not been paid in full. So, to all the ladies who are planning to join this year's competition, I suggest you think twice before filing your application. 

Letter from a Reader: Are Credit Card Companies Allowed to Share Our Personal Information?

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I am an avid and loyal follower of your blog! I know that many of your readers are credit card holders and they will be able to relate with this story.

Recently, I have been receiving SMS messages from anonymous numbers offering personal loans, cash loans and the likes from different banks. The messages have been very frequent so one time, I replied to this particular message:

Attention! Need CASH? Personal Load up to P2m for as LOW as1.3%/mo. For FAST & EAST Approval, ACT NOW. Message me. Adrian.

I was so fed up from receiving these kinds of messages so I send this message "Will you just stop texting me with those offers?" After sending this message, Adrian replied and said "I'm sorry Joseph Bolos. Rest assured you are monitored." After a few minutes, he also texted me my exact home address.

I was very shocked as to why he knows my complete name and my exact home address. Then I realized that he must have gotten these pieces of information from my credit card company. So I called my credit card company and told the customer service guy that there is a loan agent from another credit card company that is harassing me. He told me that the agent might have secured my personal information from the database of the other credit card company.

I understand that there is a database for the reference of the different credit card companies but why do these companies share these pieces of information with the loan agents without our permission? It truly bothers me that these people are sharing my personal information for their marketing purposes without my consent! Fellow Fashion PULIS readers, is there anything we can do about this?

When this lady met up with the athlete to pick up the two tickets, she was shocked to see that they were upper green bleachers worth 200 PhP each. She tried giving them back to the athlete but he refused to accept them because according to him, he already paid them on her behalf. She was even more upset when she later learned that the two tickets sold to her were just given to the athlete for free.

The manager of this fitness personality used his connections to help him land a job on a television network. He helped promote his workout programs that eventually got him billboard deals with a local pharmaceutical company. Sadly, his career was starting to take off, he began badmouthing his manager to some of the people in the network. He told them to not to deal with his manager anymore because he is short-changing him.

This fitness personality also publicly claimed that his workout programs were all original. What many do not know is that he plagiarized most of them from the internet. He cuts parts from one workout program, pastes it with another and makes it appear that it is his own.

Letter from a Reader: A Cockroach in My Salad

Dear Fashion PULIS,

Last July 10 at around 10 in the evening, I invited my friend, Noel, to eat in this restaurant in Greenbelt. In the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly receptionist and one of the managers who know me. I browsed through the menu and ended up ordering the Inasalata Rucola.

When my salad arrived, I started eating it. After digging into it, I saw something that was blackish in color. I handed my phone to my friend and told him to take a picture. I requested the waiter to call the manager to show him the cockroach in my salad.

They offered to replace my salad but how can you still continue eating in a restaurant when you just saw an insect in your place. There was no apology or anything and they only offered to give me free dessert. I insisted to pay for the bill but they declined my payment. That night, I felt cheated because all these years I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant the incident made me realized how unclean this restaurant is.

A worm in the salad is understandable because sometimes during the preparation it cannot be spotted but having a cockroach in it is totally a different story. I think the Makati City sanitation department  should look into this restaurant. We should not tolerate the unclean kitchen of this restaurant.

The next time you guys are in the Greenbelt area, you better think twice before entering this restaurant. Thank you for posting my story.

Letter from a Reader: Why are Imitation Items Allowed in the Department Store?

Dear Fashion Pulis,

I guess all letters senders start by saying that they are big fans of your blog and I am proud to say that I am no exception. I used to ignore local chismis sites and concentrated more on the foreign showbiz sites until I accidentally encountered your blog site. I have been hooked to Fashion PULIS since May 2011.

When my cousin had a negative experience with a celebrity, I encouraged her to email you the incident. Her story eventually landed on your blog with the title Letter from a Reader: Queen of Deadma. We were vacationing in Hong Kong when her letter came out. We were so excited that we spent so much time re-reading the story and we forgot all about the shopping.

Anyway, I wanted to share a disturbing discovery I made while shopping in Makati last Sunday. I visited this department store because I wanted to look at the house ware section. When I was passed by the women's hand bag section, the 'What's New' display rack caught my attention. I was so surprised to find out that the department store carries Mulberry imitation itmes with every detail of the original style including the metallic emblem/logo.

Now this is my question. Is the department store aware of this? Is the one in charge of the consignment items aware that these bags are imitations? Even if this department store is known for its affordable items, this does not put them on the same level as the "tiangge" stalls that sell fake luxury handbags. In my opinion, this is a serious crime just like movie or music piracy?
