A Decision That Could Just End His Relationship
Good-looking Celebrity (GC) and Handsome Boy (HB) grew up in overlapping circles of showbiz families. Having parents who are noted performers in the entertainment industry made it inevitable for GC and HB to bump into each other at such an early age. Besides, other than being respected actors, their parents also shared what seems to be a common practice among showbiz families, that is, having children outside of the first marriage. Unlike other children of celebrities, GC and HB were immediately recognized by their famous fathers and both were not hidden from the limelight.
As they grew up, GC and HB became best friends, and eventually became a couple. When GC decided to pursue a career in the business, HB remained in the background. However, even though he was not that visible on screen, HB remained famous. Whenever GC was involved in a controversy, which was synonymous to having a career, HB was her shoulder to cry on until their relationship took a bad turn.
No one could clearly identify what triggered the bad blood between GC and HB. One moment, they seemed civil and in the next tweet, they would be alluding to each other negatively. Instead of remaining silent, the barrage of social media posts would become a feast for netizens, sympathizers, and bashers. In the midst of these exchanges, their families have remained silent. However, rumors have it that the relationships among their parents have been affected as well. Once best friends, their parents have remained distant.
While HB seemed to maintain cordial relations with the family members of GC, an unexpected decision on the part of GC might have made a statement to end these exchanges of tweets. The education of a Young Family member (YF) was disrupted when GC decided to transfer YF to Another School (AS). Prior to being moved to AS, YF was studying in a school that is closely related to HB. In photos of that school, YF would sometimes be a familiar face among the smiling students. The look of innocence was oblivious to the conflict between GC and HB. Of course, GC could always state that her decision had nothing to do with HB, given that AS is owned by someone close to her. Besides, she has the right to make sure YF gets the best out of life. Some time ago, HB posted a message that many believed hinted at the hesitation that that he might not no longer have a close relationship as before with YF. Meanwhile, netizens have noticed that their social media sites seem to have a truce these days.

Repost: Duterte's Anti-drug Campaign on the Cover of TIME Magazine

A man whose face is wrapped in packaging tape is featured prominently on the cover of the Asia edition of TIME Magazine's September 26 issue.
The magazine puts a focus on the "tragic cost" on the anti-drug campaign led by President Rodrigo Duterte, who graced the cover in May as "The Punisher."
In the September issue, the grim image is accompanied by the caption "Night Falls On the Philippines." Writer Rishi Iyengar details the trajectory of the so-called war on drugs in the cover story.
Iyengar documents the death of Restituto Castro, who was shot in the back of the head after an alleged drug run for his friends.
"According to figures provided to TIME by the Philippine national police, 1,506 people had been killed in police operations as of Sept. 14, just over two months since Duterte took office," Iyengar wrote.
"The rest were likely killed by vigilantes who may have been inspired by Duterte’s words—deaths the authorities say they are investigating."
Meanwhile, Duterte's habitual use of profanities was also given attention, citing the "nauna" rape joke from the campaign trail and the recent remarks he made about US President Barack Obama after he was pressed about the issue of human rights.
"I don’t care about human rights, believe me. There is no due process in my mouth," Iyengar quoted Duterte, describing him "unapologetic" towards the end.
Iyengar also shares the perspective of some police officers: "This is the first time that the President or the administration are really focused on eradicating illegal drugs. The support of the President makes it very encouraging for the law enforcer."
Beyond the 1,506 individuals who died in police operations, Iyengar added that nearly 700,000 people with drug-related offenses have surrendered out of fear.
The tone of Iyengar's story on TIME Magazine is similar to front page stories that the New York Times ran in August.
Featured in the first New York Times story was photo of a woman cradling the body of her partner Michael Siaron, a 29-year-old pedicab driver whose death at the hands of unidentified gunmen gained wide attention.
Another story, published in New York Times-Asia two weeks after the first, focused on the the death Renato Bertes and his son JP, who were reportedly tortured in a Pasay City jail. — Aya Tantiangco/VVP, GMA News

Repost: Angeli Valenciano Requests Privacy on the Separation Issue of Gab Valenciano and Tricia Centenera

Angeli Pangilinan Valenciano has released a statement regarding the marital woes of her son, Gab, and his wife Tricia Centenera.
Speaking on behalf of the Valenciano family, Angeli requested for privacy as they try to deal with the situation, saying it is a "family matter."
She went on to note that "everyone makes mistakes."
"The Valencianos' stand: This is a family matter. Not everything you read is true. Everyone makes mistakes. But this is too sensitive a matter to simply make statements about. We request for privacy as we try to handle this hurdle in our life with wisdom and faith," she said in a statement sent to ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual.
Early this week, Centenera told ABS-CBN News that her husband is asking for a divorce.
She also claimed that Gab was emotionally abusive to her, and stressed that she is not the unfaithful one in the relationship.
Rumors about the couple's marital woes surfaced early this month when Centenera shared on Twitter a quote about "making something new."
She also posted on the microblogging site that she is "rebuilding, because I don't tolerate cheaters."
Valenciano and Centenera got married three times – in a civil ceremony in the United States in 2014, and in Tagaytay and Boracay in 2015.
