Thwarted Plans of the Political Camp

With elections just around the corner, the race to obtain exclusivity of endorsements of famous personalities has begun as well. By taking advantage of the fascination with showbiz celebrities of the public, politicians are aware that the word of a celebrity can do wonders for their campaign. A few years ago, a politician won simply because the campaign pictures showed the politician with a famous celebrity who was touted as a lookalike. However, after winning, the politician allegedly did not live up to the promise given to the famous celebrity. Thus, when that politician ran again with no celebrity endorsers, the result was a no-brainer. The politician failed in the reelection bid.
This situation also cuts both ways. When a Popular Performer (PP) was tapped to endorse a candidate running for a local seat, PP gave her support. However, the said candidate failed miserably and thus, PP had learned her lesson. Her fame was insufficient to assure a win for a politician. In addition, the loss of the candidate can signal that the popularity of PP could lead to doom.
While the camp of a Would-be Candidate (WC) has yet to declare formally the plans for the 2016 elections, the political camp of WC has been slowly positioning itself. Thus, the camp decided to ask PP to endorse possibly PP during the campaign. Given her experience, PP turned down the request. Not giving up easily, WC’s camp sought the management of PP. However, PP’s management quoted a very high fee.
Since Plan A did not work, Plan B was the next option. Thus, the camp of WC decided to make noise by becoming visible in the project of a Close Relation (CR) of PP. An eligible bachelor (EB) from WC’s camp came to an event of CR. The presence of EB surprised the audience, and soon, the press started to make an issue out of that incident. At this point, no one is sure if EB really likes CR, but given that both are single, linking them together makes good copy. The plan, however, was to get to PP via CR.
When the matriarch (TM) got wind of the strategy, she immediately said her piece. Highly respected and knowledgeable, she thwarted the plan, which seemed desperate. TM stressed that PP and CR are not even close enough to the popularity of their family, and thus, the idea of pursuing PP was not at all sound. Bluntly, TM said that they do not need PP at all to get potential votes.

Enrique Gil Apologizes for London Flight Incident: 'Tao Lang, Nagkakamali'

Enrique Gil issued a public apology to actress Jessy Mendiola, after he caused a commotion during a flight to London last week. Enrique spoke about the incident on TV Patrol on September 11.
"I had some drinks sa plane, I mean, more than I should be having, so as a result things got out of hand. At dahil po doon, (And because of that) I want to apologize to my brothers and sisters from Star Magic. I sincerely apologize to Jessy, to JM (De Guzman, Jessy's boyfriend) if ever I offended him in any way, I'm sorry.
"Tao lang, nagkakamali, (We're just humans who who made made a mistake), we all makes mistakes but you own up to it, you learn from it and you move forward."
Enrique also took the opportunity to thank his and Liza's fans and reassure them that everything is fine. "It's the first and last time this will ever happen, so thank you so much po sa lahat ng fans namin (to all our fans), sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa amin (to everyone who supports us), for all the love and support and we just want to reassure you that we're okay, we're fine."
Liza thanked their fans for their support in spite of what happened, as well.
In the same report, June Rufino, Luis Manzano's manager in a statement confirmed a confrontation did occur but was fixed immediately.
“There was an altercation. But apologies were made and accepted. It was actually Enrique who apologized to the aggrieved party.”
Enrique was accompanied by his on-screen partner Liza Soberano, who also thanked their fans for showing their love and support.
It was previously reported that Enrique was intoxicated on a plane ride from Manila to London on September 4. Enrique's inebriation caused him to harass actress Jessy, prompting actor Luis Manzano to step in.
According to Pep, a witness saw actors Paulo Avelino and Jake Cuenca give Enrique alcoholic drinks. Jake said at a press conference on September 10 that he wasn't involved in the incident, while Paulo said in an interview with Pep that it would be better to hear the entire story straight from Enrique.
Both Paulo and Jake denied that they gave Enrique any alcohol, saying they were both resting at that time.
The actors were all in London together with the rest of the ASAP 20 cast, for ASAP 20's "ASAP Live in London" show.

Onboard the plane, Paulo Avelino and Jake Cuenca allegedly egged Enrique Gil to drink Black Label. Not knowing that Gil might not have high tolerance for alcohol, the actor got drunk and became rowdy.
Anyone who has encountered drunk people knows that they could either be violent, persistent, or just slump in a corner and sleep. In the case of Gil, he became persistent and started hitting on actress Jessie Mendiola.
Mendiola became impatient and could no longer stand the antics of the drunk Gil. Finally, someone stood up. Luis Manzano came to her rescue. Like a knight in shining armor, Manzano did what was should have been done. He tried to pacify Gil.
Manzano and Gil got into a heated discussion for Gil to stop whatever he was doing, as Mendiola was already getting embarrassed and uncomfortable. Although there was an exchange between the two actors, no fistfight occurred. Both actors were pacified to prevent any worse consequences.
While drinking might be a test of manhood or camaraderie, perhaps Avelino and Cuenca should be more responsible in their antics. Meanwhile, Gil should be careful as this incident is not good for his wholesome image.
