The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Sunday that it is validating a list of showbiz personalities allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, NCRPO director, said the names on the list are based on information from arrested drug suspects.
Albayalde said all of the names on the list were still subject for validation.
He added that the release of the names would depend on the decision of either President Rodrigo Duterte or Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
Meanwhile, Albayalde said several celebrities have already submitted urine samples and underwent voluntary drug tests.
He urged media networks to coordinate with the PNP in conducting drug tests for their employees and artists pursuant to the Duterte administration's campaign against illegal drugs.
The District Anti-Illegal Drugs Division of the Southern Police District said in an earlier report that radio disc jockey Karen Bordador and her boyfriend, suspected drug pusher Emilio Lim, submitted a list of their clients which includes actors, singers, and models. —Joseph Tristan Roxas/ALG, GMA News

Just Do Not Let Authorities Catch You
Although there is clamor among influential showbiz personalities not to reveal the names because such naming could ruin years of hard work and reputation, other sectors demand equal treatment. As long as a name is on the list, he/she must be exposed. However, prior to the release of the lists, networks and actors have taken the initiative to clear their names.
While celebrities and their management have posted results of their drug tests, the PNP remains cynical. Authorities are not convinced of the veracity of tests that are not administered in front of them, as experts are aware that detection of prohibited substances can be circumvented. Nonetheless, the big names who have undergone their drug tests stand by the results.
The effort of these famous celebrities to be an example to their fellow stars in terms of taking the drug test is commendable. However, the drug issue needs to be addressed even among newbie talents. For instance, Young Talent (YT) is allegedly hooked on a designer drug. Whenever YT is seen chilling in a bar, customers notice that something does not seem right with the young lad. As bar goers exhibit typical behavior of someone in a club, that is, drink, dance, talk, socialize, YT seems to be always high. Physical signs are noticed as well as other behavioral indicators.
At this point in his new career, the network that discovered YT is bent on building his career. While YT is up against his peers, his management assures that each one has ample exposure. Every so often, YT is given the opportunity to be recognized by daily viewers as himself. Sometimes, YT performs with his peers, and those instances truly prove who deserves to be pushed for an individual track. Thus, if YT will not be careful with his extra activities, he might just lose his dream. After all, not everyone could be given the chance for fame that his station is giving him easily.
‘Never forget why you should win or achieve your goals and dreams. Once you feel you are losing purpose in the process, remind yourself why you saw the need to begin in the first place, let that drive you.’ ― Unarine Ramaru
