  1. It's good you found out early enough. For a newborn feeding every now and then, think how hungry he was because he can't properly drink his nourishment. Had he been born in hospital though, a pediatrician would most likely have caught this problem immediately, and surgery done before leaving the hospital.

    1. Thank you for your comment. I’m pretty sure maraming inspired sa previous post niya to have at home births.

    2. Unang una, the operation is done and over with. Hindi natin alam kung kelan ginawa. Same day as the home birthing, next day, week after that? We don’t know. So what’s the difference, are you just worried na they had to make a special trip to the hospital?

Also, did you just all assume na walang pedia on standby during birthing; or that she didn’t have her baby checked by the pedia immediately after birthing? Did you think she let her baby starve for a week bago nalaman ang condition?

OR kelangan lang talaga manisi at makialam?

    3. Based on Rica’s caption, the operation was not done on the same day as the home birthing. Also, if you really read her caption, obvious naman na hindi din the following day after the birth ginawa, so ilang days din hindi nakapag-feed ng maayos yung baby.

Also, people always have somethjng to say especially when home birthing is not the usual practice here in the Ph. Just because she’s made tons of research about it, yun na yung best choice for everyone. So expect people to say their piece talaga whether they are for it or against it. Wag ka masyado defensive and gigil 7:59.

    4. Not necessarily true. I recently gave birth and I am a member of an online forum where mamas who were due the same month as I was are sharing our experiences. Not all lip/tongue ties are discovered while at the hospital. Many mamas learned about such condition days/weeks after they’ve given birth because only then that they noticed their babies’ difficulty with latching, gaining weight, etc. Of course some were caught early on, but many mamas have long left the hospital already before the trouble was identified. And I’m only talking about my own month’s board. What more on other months...

    1. No hnde po. There are time na sobra, pero pede un icorrect pinuputol lang yata. Its not that serious kaya lang mahirap sa baby makadede kasi di niya masuck ng maayos un dede.

    2. Yes. Magkadikit yun inbetween ng lips and tongue ng bata. Ang alam ko gugupitin yon pra ma-correct

    3. Iba po. Cleft lip or palate yun. Pag tongue tie and lip tie, di lang maoopen masyado yung mouth kasi nga 'tied'. So kelangan lang irelease yung tie para maging okay.

    2. 12:38 ‘Not against home birth naman’...

    1. Of course nobody wants it to happen. I'm sure she kinda regret it now. Lesson learned.

    2. 1:50 super tama! Pabida bida kase sa home birth listening to her body eh ayan hindi nakita agad.

  6. It’s just a simple snip anyway. No big deal. Both my kids have it done.

  8. My nephew had the same condition at birth. A surgery called Frenectomy was performed when he was a month old.

My daughter has lip and tongue tie (severe) but she can breastfeed well so we decided to forego the surgery. Now she's 1y10mo, ok naman. no problems also sa speech.

    1. So sorry for that. A pediatrician is supposed to check the baby while both of you are in the hospital. No one asked you if the baby feeds well, or if he/she is fussy while drinking? I remember mine being checked at least 3 times daily for the 3days we were confined after giving birth. Aside from physical checking, I was asked how my kid is while feeding, and even on how many times she pooped, if the poo colour had already changed, to check that she's having enough milk and that her system is working.
