  1. hindi ko kilala si luke and i played the video but didn't watch, ginawa ko lang background. nung narinig ko yung kumanta, i thought ay hindi makakapasok to. and true enough, nag No nga yung tatlo. i actually felt disappointed kay regine kasi bakit sya nag yes when clearly hindi maayos yung pagkakanta. i felt na hindi sya dapat kinuhang judge, parang di sya marunong.

    1. Parang baliktad.

Walang wala naman sila kay regine when it comes to singing.

It takes one to know one.

      Delete
    5. @1:01 teh, idol to, not the voice. walang coach coach dito na merong taga ayos lol

      Delete

      Delete
    8. I agree 12:56. Nung 2nd part of the song, it was grating to the ear, MY ear at least. I can't ignore the flats and he could get away with it singing reggae but I don't think he'd be able to do it singing another genre.

      Delete

      Delete
    11. ang hinahanap nila ung bumibirit, pag magaling tumili, sumigar or bumirit, pasok yun ;)

      Delete
    12. Bingi ba itong si Regine? Hindi maganda ang pagkakakanta nya kahit reggae. Nawala sa tono unang pasok pa lang.

      Delete
  2. The REAL question is, had he gone through idol city, would you all have voted for him?

    ReplyDelete

    1. 50-50 chance but still, he would have been given a chance just like the rest who were able to go to the next round based on "we'll give you another chance and see what else you can do" or "can you sing again, i want to hear you doing another syle of singing"

      Delete
    2. Exactly. Ang gagaling magkomento. Pero, bibilhin ba nila ang CD? Makikinig ba sila ng reggae at ska? And I agree, it's not that pulido.

      Delete
    3. 1:40 how do you know that reggae is the only genre that he does when he wasn't given a chance to prove his abilities and capability?

      Delete
    4. If you have a sob story before joining, malaki chance mo talaga manalo. #sadtruth

      Delete
    5. Maybe this is unpopular opinion, pero I don’t find this as Idol material as well. Then, again, ang daming so-so singers silang binigyan ng chance. This makes me want to question their credibility in terms of judging a singing competition. I don’t think sobrang special or unique pero may potential sana, and Mas deserving IMHO, kaysa sa ibang pinasok, like ung girl who sung IDGAF or yung kumanta ng Roses.

      Delete
    6. Mas bagay sa boses nya yung mga Ray Charles o Nat King Cole songs

      Delete

    1. Magrereact din ba yung mga pa-woke na yan if the contestant is not black? Or if pogi si kuya?

      Delete
    2. I actually think na people are reacting furiously dahil maitim sya at hindi kagwapuhan. Had it been the other way around na nag-no ang judges sa pogi or maputi, hindi naman kayo magrereact ng ganyan ka-oa because aminin, hindi naman talaga kagandahan yung remdition nya noh.

      Delete
    3. Anon 1.44 sobrang agree ako sa sinabi mo

      Delete
    4. ang problema kasi, maraming nakapasang so-so at generic sa audition so bakit hindi nila itry papasukin to. Dude clearly has the talents to musically arrange an RnB song into a reggae one

      Delete
At the end of the day, kung nag agree kayo na may flats and sharp, then there you go. Wag na magtaka bat hindi nakapasok.

      Delete
    6. Bingo! That’s the thing they have. Tisoy o Puti, pasok agad.

      Delete

  5. Ang daming woke sa Pinas ano? Masyadong nauutilize ang freedom of speech. So ironic given the unofficial result of the 2019 election.

    1. Anong problema dun?

      Delete
    2. Not 12:57AM, but ang problema dun is puro kuda lang alam ng iba pero parang di nagtratranslate sa actions, and if pagbabasihan nga ang result ng eleksyon e you'd question kung nasaan ba tong mga woke na to na kuda ng kuda.

      Delete
  6. No. Just no. May mga reggae or ska version na magandang pakinggan, but this isn’t of those. Bob Marley’s voice is pure soul and angst na tipong may pinaglalaban at dinadaan niya sa pagkanta and you will easily get magnetized by his voice.

      Delete
    5. madumi but Regine perfectly explained the essence of reggae genre. hindi mo kailangan maging malinis at maging super concise sa key, timing at vocals. yung rawness makes up reggae

      Delete
    6. True. Hindi sa madumi, it's more of kulang sa reggae vibe. Pilit na pilit.

      Delete
  7. Oh well. Infairness to Regine. Very sensible mag judge. Hindi lang basta yes or no

    ReplyDelete

  8. Pumikit ako para mafeel ko yung kanta. Waley talaga. Out of tune na parang binalahura yung kanta sa totoo lang. I can’t even call his version reggae. Baka bumangon sa libingan niya sa Manong Bob. Hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  9. labo ni regine. dami raw flats and marumi yung pag kanta pero she said yes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Kasi maayos naman un and it’s reggae. She said that in the video. Hater ka lang ba ni regine? The guy’s voice has quality.

      Delete
    3. Anuveh guyz. Obviously pampalubag yung ni Reg. She knows by saying yes and giving kind words won't help him because the other judges already said no. So she said it anyway so the guy won't feel too bad. But really, it's a No for her.

      Delete
  10. Hindi naman talaga magaling? Iniba lang ung genre kagulo na kayo? Kahit di naman talaga magaling

  12. This is why I find singing competitions absurd. Puro pa-“technical” but in real life, yung dating talaga yung tinatangkilik. Just look at famous singers like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, etc. Not perfect ang voice but catchy songs.

Nagpapa-compete pa sila, di naman sisikat after and people are not even overly critical with “techniques.” These competitions are for pure entertainment and to ridicule people, imo. Just don’t watch it. There’s no point.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Miley cyruz is a great singer with a great voice.

  13. Kasi Regine sees real talent. Puro looks lang hanap:(

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. let's not make this about his looks or color. hindi naman talaga yun ang reason why they voted No. hindi talaga maayos ang pagkakanta. even regine nga na nag yes, sinabi na marumi ang pagkakanta.

      Delete
  14. Wrong choice of song kase. Iconic yung kanta, mahirap baliin. Make or break, ika nga. Oh well, baka may wild card nman.. sali na lang ulit

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree, minsan sablay talaga ibang judges but this, well.. hindi naman din sya... let’s say hasa na to be the next “idol”. So bakit ang daming galit? I believe he wont say no kung nakikita talaga nyang may x-factor

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Madaming galit kase feeling nila, naapi or na-discriminate yung contestant because of his looks. Lol.

      Delete
    2. what did you mean when you said "hindi naman din sya HASA to be the next idol"?

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
  17. 90 percent good looks, 10 percent talent.

Kaloka.

      Delete
    2. Wow really, James is not talented? Singer, songwriter, producer. He is better in music than acting.

      Delete
  18. I saw his audition. Ang gulo ng pagkanta niya. Naawa lang si Regine that's why she said yes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There were times na they asked a contestant to sing another song para marinig nila kung ano ang sound sa ibang kanta. Why didn’t they ask Luke to do that? Masyadong very transparent.

    1. E yung perf na sinasabe mo nakulangan lang sila pero “wala namang mali”, e yung dito mismong si regine sinabe nya marame daw flats and what not. Ayun parang nakulangan/bitin lang walang impact.

      Delete
Yung reggae sound nya para sakin hinde authentic, pilit. Yung voice na ginagamit nya sounds fake and forced na gawing jamaican sounding. Sorry, I really listened na walang tinginan sa video, pero hinde sya pleasant to listen to. I was rooting for him sa start kse ang ganda and naantig ako sa kwento ng buhay nya, but I was disappointed sa performance.

Opinion ko lang, just like may opinion din yung mga nag-isip na bias yung judges because of his looks and sobrang nagagalingan sa kanya.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Remember this is Idol franchise. Most likely they're looking for the total package meaning looks, talent and marketable in their first season (ignoring other versions) unlike in The Voice and TNT where your first step to get in is really your talent. Sure there have been not so good looking idol winners in the past but I guess their talents were exceptional and realistically aren't that much active anymore. Only Kelly and Carrie are still relevant with the exception of non-winner Jhud. I won't be surprised if he gets a No because his performance isn't exceptional.

    1. Tatlong seasons na ang pinoy idol from different networks. Walang sumikat. Ang sikat dito Yung walang talent.

  22. Regine really know how to play the ‘game’.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Luke made the R&B song different, his own. Mahirap ang gagawin mong ibang genre ang original song pero he nailed it and it was catchy and fun. Yung sinasabing "marumi" pa can easily be ignored and is easily polished in the future performances. He deserved that chance. Buti pa ang The Voice. They didn't have to look at one's looks.

    ReplyDelete
First time ko sya narinig, napahalakhak ako. My god, bat ba to judge? 😂 Parang wlang substance.

    1. tawa din ako dun sa "Favorite ko talaga yang reggae... ang lalim pero may kulang" and Regine was like hmmm. Ano daw Moira?

      Delete
  25. Mahilig gumamit ng "potential" ang judges . What does their word "potential" apply to, looks or Voice?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hindi malinis pagkakanta niya. He’s trying too hard to make it sound reggae but he failed. Wala din sa tono. And it’s not even about his looks nor his color.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Okay naman siya eh. Meron talagang style na ganun yung boses. Sayang. Maybe not enough to get the golden price but surely enough para sa golden ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Voice alone maganda naman yung tone nya and he sounds good. What i like about him is hindi cookie cutter and confident mag freestyle and improv. Singing for me is not about being perfect and technical..boring kung ganun. You need to be at the moment and sing your heart out ala Whitney Houston

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @2:21 AM - he wasn't having a Whitney moment, he was having an office party/talent show/team building videoke moment. Like what one comment here says, reggae didn't come naturally to him or at least not for the song he performed

      Delete
  29. I watched it.

Nakakaloka

      Delete
  30. It's very disappointing na hindi sila nag yes. The judges could have asked him to sing another song, another type of music, kung hindi nila gusto ang reggae.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Typical Pinoy.

It's all about kita.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I listened to it using it as a background, too. He may have some parts that needed polishing, but his overall performance and tone of voice is really good. Hence, I agree with Regine's judgment as he really has a potential. I watched another video judging another contestant, but they gave a chance to this girl even though di rin masyadong pulido ang pagkakanta niya. I believe the netizens did see his potential as I did.

    ReplyDelete
  35. May boses naman siya kaya siguro napa-Yes si Regine but the way he sang the song is not good, parang pilit yung pagka-reggae niya, mas ok yata na R & B kinanta niya, parang mas bagay sa boses niya.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  38. Pakibalik na po ng The Voice

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree with the rest of the judges. At that time pinipilit nyang gawing reggae yung kanta pero sadly hindi nya na achieve. Wrong choice of song and it seems na hindi rin natural sa kanya yung ganong genre.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's also a No for me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ang dami kasing pabebe na binigyan ng ticket sa next round ng Idol so why not give this guy a chance as well?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Moira and James, andaming sinabi kala ko mag YES... plastic!!! kala mo naman ke gagaling...never watched kahit isang episode nitong palabas na to at sa FP lang ako nakakasagap ng balita... still prefer The Voice, legit judges with legit talent....

  52. Baduy ng contest na 'to.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  54. Not to bandwagon or anything but this guy is really good at Reggae. It may not be the other judge's cup of tea but IDOL Ph should be objective di yung kung ano lang yung nagugustuhan mo. Pero siguro kasi they don't really look at talent alone, gusto din nila ng marketability and that's the sad thing about the business. Andaming talented artists sa Pilipinas but not all has the marketability to survive the industry.

Disclaimer: Marketability does not always equate to looks.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I watched the video and the guy was off key at times. There was nothing distinct about his voice, his tone, his range. The most unique thing about his performance was his take on the song but even if it was, it was a song for chilling and not winning a singing competition. It's good to celebrate diversity pero just because naiiba ung genre nya - reggae - and he's not a conventional pretty boy doesn't mean he was exceptional. And sincerity in singing doesn't mean he's got soul. Wala talaga. If any, Regine's yes was a pity vote.

    1. Agree with your observation. It was a good attempt at reggae but impressionable at most. My only beef is Moira. I hardly know her or her songs pero ganun ba talaga siya? She looks so out of place and so lethargic. She gives me then vibes that she'd rather be someplace else than there.
