Expressing ideas, sharing insights, endorsing products, and responding to queries are activities that fill up a celebrity’s social media account. Celebrities risk exposing their private lives to the public and scrutiny. While others receive praises and good wishes, many are victimized by tactless and rude bashers and trolls. Nonetheless, social media has bridged the talent to his/her loyal fans.

A true fan is someone who has consistently followed a talent in his/her professional and personal undertakings. Such a fan can notice if something does not fit or is off with his/her idol. However, asking directly a risky question about a presumed personal matter might have dire consequences, such as being blocked.

Fans recently observed a quirk in the behavior of an Idolized Personality (IP). IP can be considered among the ones who have managed to separate business from private matters. IP has social media accounts that present projects and other commitments. Once in a while, IP’s life events and significant others get their respective posts.

During one event of IP, fans noticed the wedding band was absent. That observation raised questions as IP has not made any admission of the end of a relationship or a ‘being single and ready to mingle’ pronouncement. Then again, IP is notoriously known for keeping matters private, but perhaps the time will come for IP to clarify the missing ring.

The Reprimand

Social media is a must for celebrities these days to ensure visibility and reach. Given that fans are all over social media, a celebrity must make sure he/she is actively engaging and maximizing the opportunity to be with them. Others have a social media manager who takes charge of posting as well as reading and replying to comments and direct messages, but other personalities take to the keypad themselves.

For example, Network Talent (NT) is among the celebrities who have a wide social media reach. Moreover, NT is among the top talents on the station’s list and the recipient of various important projects. His roles are marked and his projects are well-marketed by the management. Like a typical celebrity, NT has his social media accounts for his activities and endorsements. NT is active in his engagement to the delight of his fans. That is the problem.

NT is eager to respond to comments on his social media. One time, NT responded to an insinuating invitation. While NT might have thought his response was nonsense, his management thought otherwise. Allegedly, NT was reprimanded for his reply, which could affect his image as netizens can quickly interpret him and evolve stories based on his words. Thus, the exchange was taken down to prevent NT being branded an unsavory reputation.
