When a celebrity finds himself/herself in an unguarded moment that could threaten his/her career, clinging to all possible and risky options can preoccupy his/her mind. As controversy hit the slow career of a Network Talent (NT), he knew he had to act immediately. The reactions were becoming uncontrollable. Given that he’s not really an important talent of his management, he had no damage control team to clean up his accidental mess.
The problem with NT is that his initial reaction was a knee-jerk one, which centered on the usual way of solving controversy, that is, to take a defensive stance and treat everything as a ‘joke’. However, many people have started to dip their fingers and soon, NT became depressed, as he knew the possible consequence of saying goodbye to his career. Adding insult to injury is being called by the management to explain his side and subsequently be honest in his responses to questions asked.
Confused, NT sought help from Promising Actor (PA), whom he has sort of bailed out of a career-breaker. So as not to affect the image of PA then, NT allegedly lied by denying rumors about PA. NT thought it was time for PA to payback.
When NT knocked at the door of PA’s pad, he did not expect the reaction. Behind PA was the naked body of Rumored Lover (RL). Although NT felt being turned on at seeing RL and his hugeness, he regained his senses and talked to PA.
PA was defensive and refused to get involved. All NT requested was a message coming from PA vouching for his integrity. However, PA said he could no longer risk his career and not afford to be involved in any issue. PA advised NT not to talk and let silence take care of the issue. After some time, the issue will die down. NT could not wait and still felt loss. Finally, PA told NT to seek help from Influential Boss (IB). PA said that IP helped spin his issue, which had already died down after damage control was implemented.
NT followed PA and went to IB. Surprisingly, IB gave a different advice. He told NT that taking ownership of his words might work like magic. He might even get sympathy for being honest. NT knew that following IB could have hard consequences, but he had no choice but to trust the wisdom of someone who is an icon of the industry. These days, NT is feeling so much better, as his worries are over.
