Her Unbecoming Behavior

Sometime ago, Hyper TV Personality (HP) quietly returned to her home station after leaving it for greener pastures. However, when her new station decided to cut down on its personnel, she had no choice but to humble herself and return to her previous network. Lucky for HP, the network welcomed her with warmth and she was given even a spot in its cable station. Thus, in a short span since her return, HP received so many blessings.

While HP projects a stern and serious image in front of the camera, she also has a feisty side that she projects when she reacts to issues that are too controversial. This feisty side, unfortunately, is not confined to the walls of her network only. Contrary to the sympathetic image she projects in her on cam appearances, HP can behave in a way that disregards the welfare of other people around her.

When a Close Relative (CR) of HP was hospitalized, all they did was complain. The nurses had to bear the brunt of the ballistic mouth of HP. Well, HP should actually be happy because her loud complaining resulted in the alleged suspension of the nurses. The nurses apparently did not respond immediately to the call bell of CR, which caused HP to make a scene. Incidentally, CR was not even calling the nurse for something urgent.

Sadly, with all her blessings and a second chance at her previous network, HP opted to unleash her undesirable attitude towards ordinary folks. Instead of continuing to be humble, she is behaving the opposite. With this incident in mind, one should not be surprised at the way she behaved in a recent event. Moreover, her reaction after being exposed should not be surprising as well because her network is very sensitive to how its personalities behave.

Humility and knowledge in poor clothes excel pride and ignorance in costly attire. – William Penn

Letter from a Reader: 'PBA Player's Wife Verbally Abused and Humiliated My Children in Public'

Image courtesy of Fashion PULIS reader

Dear Fashion Pulis,

I certainly hope this would merit your attention. The wife of San Miguel Beermen player Marcio Lassiter - Jerlyn  Abasolo Pangilinan Lassiter - never heard of her name until one frightful Sunday afternoon, on Mother’s Day, as we were celebrating the occasion with my two daughters, Maureen (27), and Aika (26), niece, nephews and three young grandchildren.

From my unit at the 11th floor, I rushed to the swimming pool after receiving a message that someone was quarreling with my daughter, Maureen. Upon reaching the 8th floor of the amenities area, I immediately called the attention of several security personnel to escort me to find out what was happening at the pool.

I came across a family headed by an old woman I presumed was in her 70’s talking to my children. Maureen was trying to explain patiently about a misunderstanding. The old woman and her family seemed reluctant. I asked my daughters how everything started.

Pointing within a distance to Jerlyn Abasolo Pangilinan Lassiter, a woman who was ranting on her cellphone.  Maureen told me she had been accused of taking photos of this woman. She overheard her say to Maureen’s cousin,” What the f*** is her problem?”

Maureen showed and handed her phone to Jerlyn to prove that she was only taking “selfies,”  but that  woman brushed it off and angrily responded, “I don’t want to see that! What the f*** is your problem? Ano, your nose must be bleeding already!”

She said that in front of my grandchildren, ages 8, 3 and 2 years old. My 3-year-old granddaughter was crying out of fear. But that woman continued shouting arrogantly, "What’s your unit? Ano unit nyo? Tignan natin kung sino ang mas powerful dito. Tignan natin kung sino tenant ang papakinggan dito!"

Jerlyn Lassiter was on her cellphone when I walked towards her direction near the female changing room. Security barred me at few feet length when I called her out to explain what she  just did. At this point, she became agitated and reluctant to face me. I demanded that she come out and explain.

She shouted angrily, “You’re stupid! B*** Ka!”

I was shocked, but shouted back, “Stupid ka rin!”

Her next rebuttal, “ Oh yeah, is that the only English you know? ”

I was taken aback by her gutter language. I told security to record everything she said and prepare an incident report.

I went back to my daughters who were still explaining to the family that it was only a misunderstanding. The family, still angry and unconvinced, as the grandmother rudely said, “ Nauna kami dito!”

I told my daughters to pack up their things and we should just leave the premises. But not without my youngest daughter who retaliated sarcastically out of frustration, “Thank you for letting us use your clubhouse.”

My daughters tightly hugged to comfort each other. It was a very traumatic experience for us.

Jerlyn Lassiter has crossed boundaries. We had been insulted. She threatened my children and traumatized my very young grandchildren. I know the trauma would be there for a long time. What happened was clearly child abuse.

I would like to say that it is most unfair for us residents to be continually subjected / exposed to people like Jerlyn and her family who have such disturbing, disgusting and threatening behavior. Their conduct is simply incompatible with and contrary to the values enshrined in a supposed to be decent condominium living.

I hope this will serve as an example to all people like Jerlyn Lassiter with atrocious, uneducated and abominable attitude that they are not above the law, especially on child abuse and slander.

Jerlyn Lassiter, crossed my boundaries and traumatized my children/granchildren under the following violations:

CHILD ABUSE

RA7610

(1) Psychological and physical abuse, neglect, cruelty, sexual abuse and emotional maltreatment;

(2) Any act by deeds or words which debases, degrades or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being;

(5) Circumstances, which threaten or endanger the survival and normal development of children.

SLANDER

Penalized by Article 358 of the Revised Penal Code, slander or oral defamation is libel committed by oral (spoken) means instead of in writing. The term oral defamation or slander, as now understood, has been defined as the speaking of base and defamatory words, which tend to prejudice another in his reputation, office, trade, business, or means of livelihood. (Villanueva vs. People, G.R. No. 160351 [2006])

Thank you, Fashion Pulis, for publishing my letter.

Respectfully,

Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel Marries Same Sex Partner

Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com

LUXEMBOURG, May 15 (Reuters) - Luxembourg's prime minister married his civil partner on Friday, becoming the first serving leader in the European Union to wed someone of the same sex.

Xavier Bettel, 42, and Belgian architect Gauthier Destenay were among the first men to marry under a new law, which came into force in the Grand Duchy in January and made it the latest on nearly a dozen EU states to allow gay marriage.

Greeted by scores of well-wishers outside city hall after the private ceremony, the couple, in dark suits and ties, waved to the crowd. Bettel, a liberal whose election 18 months ago ended decades of conservative rule in the traditionally Catholic country, hugged Destenay and said: "Luxembourg can set an example."

Fellow youthful EU prime ministers Charles Michel, 39, of neighboring Belgium, and Estonia's Taavi Roivas, 35, attended the civil ceremony conducted by Bettel's political ally and successor as mayor of the city of Luxembourg.

"I came to the wedding of a friend. It's a great moment for him and I had to be present," Michel told Belgium's RTBF radio.

Bettel, a lawyer by training, publicly came out as gay in a radio show seven years ago. Destenay, already his boyfriend at the time, had still not come out.

"I didn't get up one morning and said, hey, I'm gay," Bettel told a television interviewer in 2013. "When I hear people say that we are sick, it's not a choice."

He became prime minister in December 2013, ending 19 years in power for Jean-Claude Juncker, who now heads the European Commission in Brussels.

Five years ago, Johanna Sigurdardottir, then the prime minister of Iceland, became the first serving government leader in the world to marry a same-sex partner. Double Standards

Celebrities sometimes get privileges from certain merchants who fancy them for their credibility, loyalty, and image. Thus, some companies feel it a privilege to send gifts to celebrities, especially if they are clients. However, such a relationship is not always reciprocated.

A leading company (LC) decided to send some of its products to TV Personality (TP). Other than having real good and high-end products, LC recognized TP as their valued client. When TP was contacted and informed that LC was going to send gifts, TP replied that she was excited. Thus, the messenger left the gift at LC's place and LC even sent TP the photographs of the said gift.

A few days later, TP replied that she did like the gift and she wanted exchange it, as it does not look good on her. LC wanted to please TP so LC sent several photos for TP to choose from. Finally, TP chose the gift she wanted which incidentally was the most expensive in the list.

After TP accpeted the gift that she asked for, LC requested if it were possible for TP to at least thank LC via TP’s social media account. To the shock of LC, TP abruptly replied that it was against her profession's ethics to post gifts.

What puzzled LC more was the sudden stern attitude of TP, which was the opposite of what she exuded when she was told she was going to receive an expensive gift. LC felt that TP took advantage of the situation. If that were really her stand, then TP should not have accepted the gift in the first place, and worse, she even asked for a replacement.

We try to be real nice and friendly to people, but sometimes they take advantage of that. – Layne Staley
