The Most Eligible Bachelor of Philippine Politics?

After the rumored separation of this politician and his wife, many women have been linked to him for unknown reasons. I can easily enumerate three personalities from different fields who have been rumored to be romantically involved with him.

First on my list is this actress/television personality who filed an annulment from her husband. Although she has denied the issue many times, she was still interviewed on her network’s news program a few days ago about her involvement with this politician. Of course, she denied the rumor again.

Second is this singer who came out of a nasty relationship with a younger actor. If you remember, I named her as The Fictional Star because the people from her camp were the ones who invented the rumor and spread it via text messages to the showbiz reporters. Just like the first girl, she also appeared on TV and denied the rumor.

Unlike the previous two who denied the rumors, the third one did just the opposite. One day, she even invited a few showbiz reporters for food and drinks and announced to them that she is the new girlfriend of this politician. She is not an actress nor a singer, but a public servant whose husband passed away a year or so ago.

Let me assure the readers of Fashion PULIS that all these three women were never romantically involved with this politician. I happen to personally know his non-showbiz girlfriend who is beautiful, sexy, intelligent, charming and vivacious (said like a true friend)! He may seemed to be the most eligible bachelor in Philippine politics but let me tell you that he is not so available after all.

Letter from a Reader: Steam Room Action with a Guest Celebrity

Dear Fashion PULIS,

Ever since I discovered this gym close to where I live in Timog opened last year, I started going there more often. I'm no stranger to the cruising hanky panky scene in the gym’s locker room and I won’t deny that I have participated in some of them. Since this gym is close to the big networks, I often see actors in the locker room. They're pretty careful not to get themselves in any tabloid headlines so at most, I just get to see them change their shirts in the locker room (Masaya pa rin!).

One weekend, when I was at this gym, I was seated in the cramped steam room with two other guys. The guy in the middle was really cute, a teenager under 20, with puppy-dog eyes, weird sideburns and a light coat of hair on his chest. I recognized the other guy as a frequent cruiser in the gym and I knew he was looking for fun too. After a couple of playful glances later from the regular cruiser, the cute teenager in the middle was tenting in his towel (you know what I mean)! To cut the long story short, the regular cruiser and I ended up doing the act in the steam room, with the teenager in the middle watching us with his undivided attention.

I was supposed to leave it to dumb luck that a hot teenager was willing to play dirty with two normal-looking guys, but I saw him again after taking a shower so I tried asking for his number but he politely declined. Every now and then, I would see him alone at the gym working out. One day, he started going to the gym with another hot teenager who looked about his age. I do not mean to be judgemental but it seemed to me that something was going on between the two of them.

Just two days ago, I was watching TV and behold, I was shocked to see the cute teenager playing the support role in a telecommunications commercial. I did my research and found out that he is not just an unknown commercial model but he is an up and coming talent of a major network! He has a couple of soaps, an indie film, an apparel endorsement and other teenybopper gigs. I Goggled further and saw photos of him with the other hot teenager he went to the gym with. Apparently, he is a student of UP Diliman with a private school education and comes from a well-off family

Side note: How I wish he would come out in the open. After all, there are really many good looking gay men who are confident about their sexuality. He could really become a good role model for younger gay kids. (Am I being a Anti-P?)

That's pretty much it, I just needed to share this story with you. Love the blog, entertaining as hell!

XOXO

I Left My Heart in NYC

Last April, this actor and his actress girlfriend met up in New York City for their network’s U.S. concert tour. When work was finally over and the actor had free time to enjoy the city, he opted to hang out with some hot guys instead of his actress girl friend. His refusal to spend quality time with her in the Big Apple made her realized that she will never be able to change him. She entered into the relationship hoping that she will be able to reform him but the New York City incident was the last straw. She was also very frustrated that all throughout their relationship, he never attempted to be intimate with her because according to him, his religion prohibits him from having pre-marital sex with her. Right there and then in the City that Never Sleeps, the two of them finally decided that it was best for them to put their relationship to rest.

This story might come as a surprise to some of you who recently saw the two of them interviewing each other on a showbiz oriented talk show. I just do not know if you were keen to observe that after their interview, an acknowledgment of the brand that the two of them are endorsing immediately followed it. In short, the two of them were just pretending to be sweet to each other on air because they were obligated to do so.

GMA News Online Twitter Account Got Hacked?

A reader was quick to capture the screen when he noticed that the twitter account of GMA News Online was hacked. The tweets were deleted immediately after a few minutes.

Who Cut the Train?

This internationally-renowned veteran fashion designer borrowed an antique wedding gown from the grandson of a former president. It was the gown that his deceased mom wore when she got married. The gown had an extraordinarily long and exquisite antique embroidered train.

One day, this owner wanted his mother’s wedding gown back so he got in touch with the designer who borrowed it. He was appalled when he heard that the designer told him that he misplaced his mother’s antique wedding gown. He could not believe how this designer could have misplaced a bulky and heavy wedding gown with a super long train.

Years later, the designer got in touch with him one day and informed him that he finally found his mother’s missing wedding gown. When the gown was delivered to him, he got the shock of his life. He discovered that half of the antique embroidered train was already gone.

The same wedding gown was borrowed to be the centrepiece of an exhibit in a museum. It was displayed on a platform that showed the actual length of the gown's train. Thanks to the veteran designer, the visitors of the exhibit only got to appreciate the antique wedding gown with half of its original train.

Change of Heart

During the shooting of this film, a team of expert Filipino hair and make-up stylist was selected by the producers to create three different looks for each of the four leading actresses. Out of the four actresses, one of them insisted on using her preferred Indonesian hair and make-up stylist. The producers gave in to her demand despite the fact that this will mean extra cost for them.

While the Filipino stylists were busy doing the finishing touches for the third and final look of the three actresses, the Indonesian stylist suddenly approached them asking for directions. He was not able to get a clear response from anyone so he went back to the actress who hired him. A few minutes later, the flustered actress started bugging the Filipino stylists for assistance but all of them were just too busy to entertain her. Did she suddenly have a change of heart when she realized that her Indonesian stylist could not keep up with the Filipino stylists?

This incident showed that the Indonesian stylist did not do his homework prior to the shoot. Being the actress' chosen one, the producers expected him to perform better than the stylists they chose. At the end of the shoot, everyone in the production team agreed that the Filipino stylists have done a way better job compared to the Indonesian stylist.

In another instance, when the same actress was invited by a leading magazine for a photo shoot, the creative director/editor was very disappointed when she again insisted on using her Indonesian stylist. He was so frustrated that his vision for the shoot could not be executed accordingly by the actress' stylist.

You Know You Love Him: Ed Westwick is Penshoppe's New Lead Endorser

The new face of the Philippines’ leading fashion brand PENSHOPPE is none other than international star ED WESTWICK, better known the world over as Chuck Bass, an overly confident and sexy bad boy, in the popular television series "Gossip Girl," from Josh Schwartz ("The O.C."), based on the tremendously popular book series about privileged teenagers who attend an elite private school in New York City.

The announcement was recently confirmed by PENSHOPPE Brand Director Alex Mendoza stating that, “the selection of (Westwick) was for the British-born actor to headline the brand’s 2011/12 campaign in the Philippines as well as to introduce a fresh new face that will represent PENSHOPPE’s new and revitalized image,” he explained. “We believe it is time to appoint someone on an international scale. It’s time to show everyone that PENSHOPPE is upgrading itself to international levels. Someone like Ed fits the mindset and is admired by our market.”

Since the introduction of his bad boy character Chuck Bass in the popular series Gossip Girl in 2007, his alter ego has made a unique style impression that has since landed him in magazine covers as well as a style copied by men the world over.

“On its 25th year, PENSHOPPE is proud to have actor Ed Westwick as our headliner. His presence and charisma will definitely wake the Philippines to the fact that what is originally Philippine made can also be worn proudly by a worldwide icon as well as people around the world.”

Ed is set to fly to Manila first week of June to shoot the campaign with Australian fashion photographer Darren Tieste in cooperation with international publicity firm PR Asia Worldwide. The actor will endorse PENSHOPPE’s pre-Holiday 2011 to Summer 2012 collection. Mendoza shares, “Ed will embody the free and easy, sophisticated casual style that the brand is known for.”

Full Circle

The life of this former actress has come full circle. She grew up in a humble home before joining show business. When she got married, she decided to quit the business and became a plain housewife. Her husband provided her a beautiful mansion and showered her with expensive gifts like pieces of jewelry and designer handbags. All these changed when she and her husband had to flee the country because of her husband's alleged illegal business transactions. Leaving their riches behind, she is now residing overseas working as a babysitter. Her difficult life abroad makes her miss her simple life in Manila. She wants to come home badly but her husband's situation prevents her from doing so.

Once You Go Black .....

After reading the Take Home Beauties, a reader sent me a similar story that happened in 2009. According to her, she spotted this television reporter during the concert of this sexy British songwriter/singer. She even saw the reporter on TV the next day doing a story on this foreign artist. Apparently, while doing the story, the reporter managed to captivate the heart of this black artist with her beauty and charm. At his after concert party, he was spotted making out with the beautiful TV reporter. He even disappeared with her while the party was ongoing and just reappeared later that night just to send off his guests.

I always enjoy reading your comments and I got so curious when I came across a comment about the two sexy stars and the foreign artist who recently staged a concert in Manila. My curiosity led me to do my own research and I found this blind item written by Ricky Lo. In his article, he mentioned that the two sexy stars were invited by this artist and his hunky band member to an exclusive after party in the five-star hotel where they were staying.

Only in the Philippines - Part 1

These photos were sent to me by a reader. They made me laugh so hard when I saw them.

Dear Fashion PULIS:

Since I sent out an email to my friends regarding the various ways of cheating by this chain of stores, I have received several feedbacks from various people, all narrating their experiences of being short-changed at by this chain. The anomalous method remains unchanged, the prices posted on the shelves for some grocery items are different from the ones in the bar codes. Buyers are often unaware that such is the case and that they are charged more for their purchases without knowing it.

When my son and I purchased ice cream from the store's supermarket, the price posted above the freezer was 185 PhP per 1/2 gallon of Nestle ice cream. At the cashier while paying for the bill, we were charged 205 PhP for the half gallon. My son complained about this, so a supervisor came and checked the posted price on top of the freezer. She went to the freezer to remove the price and directed the cashier to invalidate the first receipt and issue us a new one.

Here are the other feedbacks that I received from different people after sending the email

Feedback 1:
This was about a big amount of  more than 3,000 PhP for a single item in the receipt which said lobster. When you do your groceries, you do not bother with the long receipt and trust that the scanned items are correct. As a habit, I leave the receipt in the car and which fortunately my husband browsed through while I was driving. He asked if I really bought lobster for more than 3,000 PhP. I was so shocked and true enough it was registered in the receipt. We both went to the supermarket and complained.

To make matters worse, the supermarket did not even carry that item! Of course there was no lobster in that supermarket! It took about 3 managers to check. Thank goodness this time I kept the receipt. They could not explain how it happened especially since they don't sell the specific item.

The second incident was when I had to get a few items and there was a vegetable pack I bought registered a different amount. The cashier was not aware and so I called her attention. When she had it checked, the item came back with a lower amount.

It is really just impossible to check each item when they scan it especially if you are buying a cartload or more of groceries!

Feedback 2:
If I were not alert and conscious of the tag prices on the shelves, I would have been victimized. I refused to buy these grocery items with discrepant prices, so I shoved them away. The cash register definitely records higher prices compared to those on the tags. You really pay more to the cashier.

So the lesson is to keep an eye on the cash register for each and every item you put in your cart. Do not be complacent to think that the prices you see on the shelves will be the same when they are scanned by the cash register.

Feedback 3:
My friend narrated that she bought a mono block chair at the department store. But when the cash register punched the price at 50 PhP more than the posted price, she complained and had the item returned and then invalidated from her receipt.

Feedback 4:
My friend purchased a piece of vegetable at the supermarket, but when this item was punched by the cash register, it was 10 PhP more. She complained and then decided to return the item instead.

Feedback 5:
When my friends visited the newly opened supermarket, along with other grocery items, they got a pack of Hall's candy worth 20 PhP. When they got home, they were shocked to see on their receipt that they had been charged 200 PhP for the candy. So they returned to supermarket, demanding to have the over-charged amount refunded to them. The customer service staff refused to return the money, saying that since they used a credit card, they would have to return after so many days so that the purchase could first be cleared. After 3 hours of wrangling with customer service, yes, 3 hours, and still not being able to get their money back, my friend created a scene by shouting angrily and loudly at the staff. In order to pacify him, a staff took out 180 Php from his own pocket and gave this amount to him
.
I hope you post this on Fashion PULIS so that your many readers can be more vigilant when they do their shopping in these stores. More power to the best blog ever!

Yours truly,
Mara

I am challenging the readers of Fashion PULIS to be as creative as possible in naming this chain of stores. Comments with letters or initials of the store, taglines or slogans will not be posted. I will be waiting for your comments. =)

Letter from a Reader: Another Perspective of the Bad Father

After blogging for more than three months, this is the first time that I have received an email from a reader sharing a different perspective about a story that was featured in Fashion PULIS. I think it is just fair for me to share this version of the story with all of you. Here goes:

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I am writing you in connection to the story of The Bad Father that was featured in your blog. I hope you can give me a chance to share with your readers another side of him that many people do not know.

When he was sharing the latest updates in his life, he mentioned that the mother of his daughter made an overseas call trying to ask more money from him. Apparently, she heard on the news that he has been travelling all over the world. He told us that his entire salary from the station automatically goes to the support fund of his daughter. He is one of the highest-paid talents in the station so you can imagine the amount of money that goes to the fund. He even told us that the mother of his daughter legally cut off his daughter's ties with him. This means that in paper, he is no longer the father of their daughter but in spite of this, she still asks support money from him. When we asked him if they (mother and daughter) know about what he is going through lately, he said they don’t even have any idea, and if but they did, and I quote, "For sure, they would be happy." When he told us this, I could feel the pain and emotion in his heart. He loves his daughter very much. Not many people know that he loves photography and he has displayed one of his greatest works inside his condo, a picture of his beautiful daughter.

I am telling you this because in my heart I know that he is a good person. He is completely the opposite of the image that he projects on TV. He is the sweetest, most generous and kindest guy I have ever met. Any girl in our circle of friends would gladly take the place of his most recent ex-girlfriend’s in his heart. People who do not know him have been quick to judge him. He is going through a very rough time now and it doesn't help that people keep hitting him. He seems like one tough cookie but he is soft to the core. I just hope people see past his image on TV and see the real him.

Thanks for your time, FP.

Yours truly,
Miss C.

P.S. Parts of the letter were edited to hide the identities of the characters involved in the story.
