Who Cut the Train?

This internationally-renowned veteran fashion designer borrowed an antique wedding gown from the grandson of a former president. It was the gown that his deceased mom wore when she got married. The gown had an extraordinarily long and exquisite antique embroidered train.

One day, this owner wanted his mother’s wedding gown back so he got in touch with the designer who borrowed it. He was appalled when he heard that the designer told him that he misplaced his mother’s antique wedding gown. He could not believe how this designer could have misplaced a bulky and heavy wedding gown with a super long train.

Years later, the designer got in touch with him one day and informed him that he finally found his mother’s missing wedding gown. When the gown was delivered to him, he got the shock of his life. He discovered that half of the antique embroidered train was already gone.

The same wedding gown was borrowed to be the centrepiece of an exhibit in a museum. It was displayed on a platform that showed the actual length of the gown's train. Thanks to the veteran designer, the visitors of the exhibit only got to appreciate the antique wedding gown with half of its original train.

    ang sure ko lang may konek ito sa pang walong chief executive ng bansa! Nakakalungkot lang kasi bitin na bitin yung train nung gown dun sa actual runway na hinanda pra ma-feature yung train :(

    i researched my way into getting to guess the details of this blind item. former president's daughter - check. wedding gown designer - check. museum wedding gown was displayed at - check. but i still don't know who veteran designer is.

    Is this the same gown which was exhibited at the National museum a year ago in honor of the legendary fashion designer S?

    Shocking naman kung eto nga yun gown na nakita ko sa exhibit na putol yun train. Ang haba ng train ng gown na yon, and it was exquisitely done.

    This is such a BIG chismis!!!!if i may be right the wedding gown is made by the Famous Ramon Valera! kairita ang designer, baka ginamit nya sa ibang wedding gown or damit tpoa ippress realease nya na kanay yung antique embroidery!

    I heard about this story before. Was this a SLim gown we're talking about? I still don't know sino yung designer naggupit ng train though.

    The exhibit is SLIMS at the National Museum. Salavacion Lim-Higgins created the wedding gown for Linda Garcia-Campos, daughter of Former President Carlos P. Garcia.

    It's probably P, since he's the only national artist for fashion apart from Ramon Valera. Well, he is kinda internationally-renowed (not of the same stature as De la Renta or Miyake, though). P's clients are all the aging alta sociedad sosyaleras--daughters of past Presidents included, so I'd say it's him....

    Oh my!! I saw the photo, and I don't think the designer even left half of the train. I guess it could be from the angle of photo, but it looks like only 1/3 or 1/4 was left! Grabe naman! Who does this designer think he/she is, doing that to someone's property? And, what makes this worse is that (1) it was a family heirloom, (2) it's a part of Philippine political AND fashion history, making that train irreplacable! The nerve of some people! The nerve!

    ang masama nyan kung yung pinutol nyang train ginamit nya sa design nya and claimed it was his. he should be stripped off the award given to him.

    grabe this is really one of the worst things a designer can do! walang galang at respeto considering the gown is a family heirloom with so much significance not only to the family but to philippine fashion history as well! grrrrr!!!! this story should be made known! dapat lang masira pangalan ni P!!

    Truly sad :( I didn't expect this veteran designer to do such a thing. From what the books tell, he's a very respectable designer but thanks to FP we're getting to know his other side.

    Sa totoo lang, there are many, MANY kasalanans this designer had done in their "illustrious" career, kaya lang walang nagsasabi sa press. Puro kopya at recycle ng gawa ng iba! Any designer in their 50s above would know yung mga crimes na gawa nito.

    i saw the dress during the exhibit and was wondering why the long platform for a short veil. A friend later told me the story. i never realized that stuff like this do happen. hehehehehehehe

    Sabi dun sa comment #39 eh ayaw daw ni Ramon Valera yung taong yun dahil he (the designer above) copies from him. Tsk... fashion churva pa naman ang turing but if this is true, parang desperate ang actions. :(

    Yes it IS "BROWN DICK" !!!! Do your homework!!! ANTITHESIS siya of what a REAL designer should be! ANYTHING for fame, publicity, positioning, status, legacy, networking (RING A BELL NOWADAYS ANYONE???)..... NOTHING about the actual work! Ano kaya, has anybody SEEN the body of work? Does it stand TEST OF TIME ? Parang hindi.... Dated masyado. And medyo pangit.

    this is the picture, as you can see the actual train was cut off to be used as another gown again. Ask me kung kanino na ang train nna yan na hindi na naisuot ang gown for fear of the scandal!!!
