‘Halfies’ is a slang defined as someone who has mixed-race origins. In most countries, like the Philippines, halfies dominated the field of pageantry, sports, and entertainment. The Philippines embraces these people as their own as they continue to bring honors.
Unfortunately, recent controversy has been sparked by the comments of halfies, Brandon Espiritu and Jether Palomo. Espiritu, Mister Supranational PH representative in Poland, said he was just being true by not speaking in Filipino as he is not from the Philippines. However, he was quoted as stressing that without halfies, the country would not have a chance in pageants.
The blatant remark caught the ire of netizens. Such a statement implied the superiority of halfies and belittled local contestants. It reflected arrogance and insensitivity towards the conditions of the country halfies chose to represent.
Meanwhile, Palomo, Mister Pilipinas Global 2025, pledged allegiance to the American flag in one of his social media posts. Espiritu seconded the post. The exchange was captured and posted on social media.
The exchange led to a backlash and some netizens called them as opportunists. After all, one of them already is a network talent. Espiritu issued an apology later. Palomo apologized as well.
Damage has been done, though. While many halfies have thrived in the Philippines as representatives of the nation, no one has stirred as much controversy as Espiritu and Palomo. Loyalty was never a question for most fans. However, after the Espiritu and Palomo, halfies will be under scrutiny when they build their fame using their Filipino heritage.

Cancel this bigot.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes and yes! 100% Kakainit ng ulo.
DeleteYung Jether isa ring ggss susme
DeleteThis is why I do not understand why a lot of Filipinos look up to this half bloods. They don’t even pass the standards here in America why they go there. Let us embrace our own. Allow the non hafies to represent us.
DeleteThe halfies are only attractive there. You go other countries the morenas are just drooled upon.
Deletethe nerve of these two THE WHO.
DeleteThose comments coming from Michael Cinco describing these 2 as ordinary looking, chaka, mayabang and acting superior gotta hurt. Bye bye Philippine opportunities. No one will touch you even with a ten foot pole. Tuck your tail and time to pack your bags.
DeleteHalfie na nga pero bakit ampapanget!?!? Nakakahiyang mga ganyang mukha magrepresent sa Pilipinas! Halfie niyo mukha niyo!
Layas!!
DeleteHe deleted his social media. Sana bumalik na sya sa Guam. And wag na sya bumalik sa Pinas ever.
Delete12:47 Binibigyan sila ng platform because of the warm reception given to halfies like them. Kung hindi din naman yan pansinin ng mga Pinoy, no business owners will evn take a second look at them...Kaya nasa atin na yun..CANCEL!!
Deletenapaka
ReplyDeleteHes the Perfect example on How to ruin yourself with Just one comment.
DeleteTRUE! To quote a news article regarding Jether Palomo - "I am fully Filipino and a dual citizen. Both of my parents are Filipino, I was born in the United States". Nakaka p_ny3ta feelingero di naman pala halfie. Di porke't US passport = guapo. Leave the PH.
DeleteBrandon, you wouldn’t have chance on any stage if you weren’t a Filipino.
DeletePANGET?
DeleteGet out of the Phils and never come back.
ReplyDeletemala James reid ang arrogance, may superiority complex..feeling above others. Pero in the long run, nawawala rin yan once these halfies start relying on the same audience they used to look down on—for money, clout and opportunities.
DeleteSi James Reid? Halfie nga, pandak naman.
DeleteI never thought JR was all that. I was even surprised he is popular in ph.
DeleteYou better pack your bags and go back to where you came from because you just shoot yourself in the foot. There won’t be any modeling, fame and easy money. You lost that opportunity. Back to reality working unglamorous job.
Delete@9:30 may face card nung JD era pero kulang sa height and acting talent is 🫤 now waley sa lahat nalaos sa kayabangan
Delete2:20 sadly, James Reid got away with that arrogance hundreds of millions richer...mga Pinoy din nag bomba ng hangin sa ulo ng mga yan...Tapos yumaman pa lalo yumabang
DeleteJuts man ngani, akala mo naman sinong paka-superior. Duhh.
ReplyDeleteHey Jether, you said this before “Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking about yourself less.” You're so full of yourself!
Ang lakas kasi ng loob nya to make that comment.
ReplyDeleteSooo true mamsh, my exact sentiments.
Nakakagalit talaga.
DeleteBut aint that the truth 2.06?
DeleteI am with you.
You don’t bite the hands that feed. You should get out of the Philippines. Every business , brand, community and allies associated with you should be ashamed at what you have done. Please do us a favor and just leave. We dont need ingrate “halfies” like you!
ReplyDeleteThe Michael Cinco has spoken and he is not wrong!
ReplyDeleteSa lahat ng lahi, penoy lang ang proud to be penoy pero di marunong mag salita ng tagalog or kahit na anong dialect sa penas :D :D :D Pero sa ibang bansa, kailangan mong pumasa ng read and write test just to be a citizen ;) ;) ;)
ReplyDeleteAre you 100% certain about that? You've lived your whole life en penas, and still do, but you always act like someone who doesn't belong there.
DeletePractice what you preach. Maybe it’s time to stop calling Pinoys penoys.
DeleteKahit nga hindi halfie, basta fpreigner , hangang hanga mga Pinoy..Db mga Brazilian -Jap models..yung isa nga went overboard na ginawa pang sugar mommy mga GF na Pinay..lalakas ng loob dahil na rin sa mg Pinoy who shows them too much admiration
DeleteHalfies did well sa international pageant because of the Philippine sash factor,
Balik amerika, let see kung may chance kayo don.
ReplyDeleteGrabe entitlement ni manong. Canceldt ka!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is Philippines will keep sending halfies like them to pageants dahil totoo rin naman ang mga sinasabi nila. Filipinos are suckers for anything/anyone foreign… tao man, gamit o culture.
Delete3 35 lip service = shallow nationality.
As if mananalo tong mga halfies nato if yung bansang proud sila ang irerepresent nila.
Kapal naman nitong dalawang “we’re so ordinary and we’re nobody in the US so let’s try our luck in the Philippines” na eto. You need the Philippines more than the Philippines need you oi.
ReplyDeleteThese halfies come to the Philippines broke. Pinoy-baiting is real and normalized. Once they gain followers, engagement, clout, and income from it, they eventually start feeling superior because we put them on a pedestal.
ReplyDeleteThis man is a perfect example! Broke in the US, instant celebrity in the PH lol
broke na naging instant celeb nga, so the system does reward them
DeleteKlaro namang nag apologize lang kasi may backlash. If walang nag react, wala ding apology lalabas. May "be better" pang nalaman. For sure dumaan muna yan sa PR machines nila.
ReplyDeleteEdit: Brandon is not even remorseful. He is scrubbing the backlash in his Instagram.
Both already apologized on their social media accounts
ReplyDeletethey only apologized bc there's backlash and their careers / businesses here are at risk. If this is how they conduct themselves in social media, imagine what they do close doors. This are the example of halfies who are truly opportunists bc they can't find decent jobs and are losers back home. Only pinoys when its convenient to their wallets.
Do not bite the hands that pay your bills fools as simple as that.
Sa Miss Universe na lang (since yan ang one of the biggests, if not the biggest pageant stage), for the last ten years ilan ang pure pinoy talaga?
ReplyDeleteAng problem dyan, mahingin masyado yang mga yan lalo with the way they delivered their comments. And him using that term na "halfie" isn't really something to brag about kasi most of those "halfies" have a parent na nag asawa na lang ng foreigner for an "easier" life.
From 2010 onwards,Shamcey,Janine ,Ariella,Maxine and Beatrice
DeleteHahaha panalo ang name comment! Lol. Mean sila? Makakahanap sila ng mga katapat!
Delete701 Off topic: Si Beatrice pinaka maganda for me. Ariella Arida next, pero mas mukha siyang latina
DeleteYung jether palomo yung sumali sa century tuna superbods diba? Tapos pinatranslate kay Marian yung tanong nya in English. Feeling gwapo at conyo
ReplyDeleteYes feelingero yan
DeleteNatumbok mo
DeleteI do not support Cancel Culture but this one is an exemption, unfollow, report and boycott these two halfies.
ReplyDeleteBut let's make rich all the other halfies because we love halfies so much!!!
ReplyDeleteHe can’t even find work in the US kaya andito sa pinas nagpaka-celebrity HAHAHA
Their apology is admission.
We deserve what we tolerate. Also, forgiveness doesn’t always mean welcoming back the people who wronged us. They can go back to where they truly belong, where their allegiance truly lies.
Hell no. Bawal linta. Bawal parasite. We should make them feel the consequences of their actions.
You are not welcome here, mga halfies na mapagmataas. 👋

Yung tipong kahit di sila marunong magtagalog at walang effort man lang to know pinoy culture at obvious namang opportunista sila eh okey lang basta sabihin lang nilang Im Pusong Pinoy ilalagay parin natin sila pedestal.
DeleteThat’s what you called ungrateful spoiled brats . Let them go back to the country they’re more proud to represent . To think they were given better opportunities in the Philippines than other full blooded Filipinos , the least they can do is be grateful and humble to the country and Filipinos that supported them . Learning to speak and sing in Tagalog isn’t that hard if you really are proud of your Filipino heritage. Let’s see now once they are canceled in the Philippines will USA and Guam give them the same support and importance ⁉️
ReplyDeleteTheir comments brought back some memories I chose to forget. My dad is mixed and kaming mga anak nya didn't get his "Western" looks. So yes, boycott. Lahat ng businesses who associate with them.
ReplyDeleteA not so famous model, tapos nag male pageant pa, malamang at baka nakabingwit kaya naafford ang mga negosyo.
Madami nang nagcall out jan. Insensitive, gaslighting, at misogynistic. Talagang nagsama-sama lahat ng masamang ugali.
ReplyDeleteproud to say that i was never a follower of any of their socmed accounts. naka-unfollow na ba ang lahat?
Otherwise, they wait tables para kumita. Kasing i g artogante ng presidente niyang Trump
ReplyDeleteAyan na naman yung Cancel Culture.. Naging normal na.
ReplyDeleteWhat he said is true
ReplyDeleteso true. his mistake is saying the truth out loud
ReplyDeletePlease cancel this guy and everything na affiliated sya.
ReplyDeleteWow Roblox! If you try ti represent your other half,do you think you will win? Nah..u wont.thats why you're here.
Whether or not degrading sinabi nya or masama ugali nya or pangit sya at pangit ako at pangit tayong lahat - the fact remains, sinasamba ng pinoy ang halfbloods. And pinoys are so butthurt ipokrito pikons that resort to trashtalk, kesa educating people, or realizing the truth themselves.
At least you guys see the toxic truth of pinoys.
Wala!
ReplyDeleteIto yung Pilipino sila kasi may pakinabang but once they get a better opportunity outside ph kandarapa yan umalis ng Pilipinas same with ordinary filipinos with dual citizenship. Pilipino sila pag may pakinabang but will always choose to be a citizen of another country pag wala na makuhang favor from ph.
Pero boy official time sobrang layo.
ReplyDeleteHalfies wouldnt be where they are if it werent for the Ph so maybe be grateful rather than this attitude
ReplyDeleteWhere is the lie??
ReplyDeleteindeed, where is the lie?
DeleteHmm.. ragebaiting si Kuya, gusto lng mag trending. O ayan, your wish is our command. You are now cancelled, Mr. Halfie! Go to your other half on earth and wag ng babalik!
But do I agree na sinagot nya pa yun? Sympre hindi, peroo theres a truth to it aminin nyo man or hindi.
ReplyDeleteKafafanget naman!
ReplyDeleteSorry , you just showed your true undesirable colors . We are not proud of you representing the Philippines. You don't deserve all the accolades.Get back to where you once belonged.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I think you are cancelled at this moment. You are not a good representation of the Philippines. Dont look down on us--- just because you are a halfie--
ReplyDeleteWala naman katuturan ‘tong mga taong ‘to. Feeling ko papansinin pa ‘to ng gobyerno. I-declare pang persona non grata tapos may interview sa prime time news. Haaayyyy
ReplyDeleteBigyan sna ng persona non grata ng immigration yang dalawang yan. Wag patawaren.
Pumirma lahat
ReplyDeleteMake it a requirement to all halfies auditioning for modelling/acting gigs and entering pageants to answer cultural sensitivity questions. I mean, no one can control anyone’s thoughts but everyone can control what they say in public. If they don’t answer correctly, x na yan. It’s not very pinoy to be that taklesa unless you are kris a or nay lolit.
ReplyDeletePag may bahid ng pagiging maldito/maldita give them extensive cultural and attitude training.
Dethrone him! How can you represent the Philippines after you said those words?!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is taking chances, the second one is just an opportunist. At sya ay oportunista.
HALFIES? They don't look like halfies esp ang right pic lol..feeling jusko..waley Ng career back to usa , back to tambay, o janitor
ReplyDeleteWhat he said was true pero may mga bagay na hindi mo na dapat sinasabi in public.
ReplyDeleteKaya nga ang shushunga haha
DeleteThis self obsessed man used to live here in Hawaii. Him and his gf back here were kinda famous in modeling industry. They called their partnership as “Hapa Couple” if you’re from HI you know what Hapa means. Anyway, his career never really got a chance to grow here but her ex gf is. She got most of the modeling projects here so I think thats why he tried his luck in pinas kase masyado nilang sinasamba yung mga “Halfsies” dyan. No brains. Just saying. Im just glad naghiwalay sila nung girl. I’ve known them personally. Close circle of friends. Thats all I can say.

The nerve of these two.
ReplyDeleteThe nerve of these two.
ReplyDeleteFilipinos, rip what you sow. Maybe next time support local representatives
ReplyDeleteSo true.
DeleteMay napanuod akong vlog or reel niya, grabe nuknukan ng yabang at sobrang ggss. Muka naman mabaho at maacm pag nagwwork out or run.
ReplyDeleteYes. Jether is not even a "halfie" lol pure pinoy yan na may dual citizenship lang idk why he even implies na he's better even when he didn't say it directly. Ano kasi raised in amerikkka? walang pinoy accent? He's friends FRIENDS with Brandon, same with Kirk, so they just feed each other off. If they're like this in social media, just imagine how they are during their "locker room" boy talks.
DeleteNOT TRUE AT ALL!!!
DeleteSi Brando and Jether are NOT even winners. Runners-up sila.
Eto ang mga PINOY WINNERS:
Neil Perez - Mr International 2014
June Macasaet - Manhunt International 2012

As a half / mixed proud Filipino born abroad with the best of both worlds. Don’t let these losers down talk you or anyone about the country or our culture. Believe me a 1000%. Guys like this ain’t shit back here so they go back home to flex and try to get away with it there. They will get their chin checked by many of us here 💯 percent. These guys are🫵🏽🤡
ReplyDeleteAgree. Can't make it in the US, so they go to Pinas where they are said to be 'better' than the locals. As if.
Anyways this is unfortunate, but not surprising that maraming mga FIl-Am, Filipino lng when it is convenient.
ReplyDeleteDapat pageants should require that Fil-Ams to be able to speak Tagalog, at least in conversational level, we need to digiity to our country and whomever wants to represent us should at least be able to speak a local dialect.
If totoo man na meh sponsor si Brandon, he will survive the whole thing. And don't be surprised if he shares the exact sentiment as Brandons, they are best friends anyways.
He got what he deserved lol
ReplyDeleteHindi naman gwapo yung Brandon. Lakas ng loob ha?
ReplyDeleteAng kakapal ng fes! I saw jether went I to the philippines this year and fyi hindi sya kagwapuhan and katangkaran. Sabi nya 6 footer+ sya, i don't think so. I'm 5'4" and matangkad lang sya ng konti sakjn. Baka 5'10" or 5'11" lang sya
ReplyDeleteDapat disqualified mga Halfies to represent the PH.
ReplyDeleteNyek, feeling superior dahil halfies, yuck! As if welcome sila at recognized sila sa bansa na half sila. Magkaiba yun boi.
ReplyDeleteHahaha 😅
Deleteno looks no brains
ReplyDeleteSee now this is why yall should fff stop treating these halfies as gods. He’s right yk, we always choose halfies for pageants! smh
Agree?
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteAgree!
DeleteHypocrites !
Gwapo dito sa Pilipinas because of his features na preference ng majority. Pero in reality average looking lang talaga yan. Nadala ng muscles. Being biracial mostly subject to racism, pero sa remarks napakaracist niya.
ReplyDeleteIf that is how they truly feel, what the heck are they doing representing Pinas? Opportunistic lang di ba?
ReplyDeleteMismo!
Deletechararat
ReplyDeleteboth undeserving. looks are below average, baka hipon lang yan
ReplyDeleteWala daw chance ang Pinas manalo sa ibang bansa without them halfies? Aba delulu. Hahaha.
Wow. Please vomit these two guys out of the Philippines.
