    1. I understand if professionals seek compensation for the work they did. BUT, this Ezra person is a little bit hypocritical. Why? He took photos of people in distress and rescue workers during the typhoon WITHOUT their permission that he will use the images for his social media content; AND what about the photo subjects’ compensation?

#BASTOS

    2. It's called photo journalism. It's a profession. Kung ayaw nilang magambayad ng photos, sila ang magpicture on their own.

      Delete
But that's the rule kahit nakakainis.

    5. I’m with you @4:40 #doublestandards masyado tong Ezra-whatever 💁‍♀️

      Delete
    6. Huh? 4:40 for awareness yung post niya not for compensation purposes. Unless for compensation o negosyo ni Ezra ginamit yung pic.

    7. so agree with 4:40PM. kung ako yung nabiktima nakakabadtrip yung may picture nang picture tapos wala naman itinulong sayo sabay hihirit pa nang ganito.

    7. It’s about time we call out practices like this, lalo na sa mga obvious naman na may budget at gusto lang magtake advantage. Maybe it wasn’t his/her call to allocate budget for photography.

  6. ddnt know taking photos and posting it on a public platform free for people to see and grab is supposed to be a business. pumunta ba sya dun para magnegosyo ng pics ng mga naghihirap nyang kababayan? i thought the pictures he took were for awareness tapos ngayon manghihingi sya pera para mapakita sa tv pics nya na may proper courtesy at credit? tapos ilambeses na nag sorry yung kausap nya tinatrato nya pa na parang ninakaw yung pics nya e ayan nga malinaw at magalang na nagpapaalam. kung dati pa pala sila nagpapaalam na ipost pics nya e bat sya pumapayag din ng paulit ulit. ngayon kung kelan may sakuna na mas kailangan ng tao ng imposrmasyon saka nya sasamantalahin. make it make sense naman.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Huy wag mo gamitin yung sakuna para mag-take advantage ng artists/photographers. Trabaho nila yan.

      Delete
    2. Teh photographer siya. Trabaho niya yan

      Delete
    3. he’s a professional photographer. It’s his talents and skills. Nag-i-invest siya ng time, pamasahe, equipment etc para for photojournalism sabay ang mga taong nasa bahay lang or opisina hihingin ng libre ang pinaghirapan nya? to think billions ang kita ng network. try mo kaya magluto tapos hingin ng tambay sayo yung niluto mo. make it make sense naman duh!

      Delete
    4. this!!! very true. siguro kung hindi sakuna ang pics or kung private e maiintindihan ko pa e

      Delete
    5. I think he took the pictures for awareness and because, well he is a photographer. Ano pa na people like them would risk their lives to take pictures na mga ganito para lang kunin for free diba? Its the same thing with artists who paints and draws, although some of them do it for pure artistry and as a form of expression, when you want their work you must pay for it, hindi lang dahil need nila money but because they have invested their time, effort and creative juices to produce it. Not to mention ang mahal din ng mga photographic materials such as a camera and its lens. Their hardwork is what you pay for. Its sad to think na dahil lang some people like you think “its just photos”, its okay to grab them and magpaalam lang. Especially when its even big commercial companies such as GMA which earns so much. Photographers are artists who does clean work, if people work for some things its common etiquette to pay them for their effort and hardwork done. Im not a photographer lol. I just want hardworking people to be treated well and paid generously.

Even on social media, napaka strict na nila pag walang credits.

      Delete
    7. GMA is not doing the news for free. Syempre may ads, etc yan. And yung researcher, reporter, editor, etc. may sweldo pero yung photographer hanggang thank you lang?

      Wrong is wrong.

      Wag ka nga!

    10. The photographer works for himself. How do you think he pays for his expenses? Of course he gets paid for these pictures and videos. Why don't you ponder over your comments 1:35.

      Delete

      Delete
    14. 3:43 mali naman analogy mo dahil ininform siyang ibebenta Natural me fee siya pag ganun. Ganito dapat. Ininform siyang IDIDISPLAY nila sa Coffee shop nila crediting him as the baker. Pero me bumibili nung cupcakes niya Kaya binebenta nila.

I feel like these poor individuals are just expedited. KMJS just leaves them in the same poor condition without extending any help while the network makes a lot of money by showing this interview through you tube.

  17. Those are editorial photos na binabayaran talaga. The photographers are considered visual story tellers. They make money by either licensing through stock photography like Getty Images or bayaran sila ng publication for exclusive rights for a period of time. Bago sana kayo magalit sa photographer, alamin niyo muna how things work in their industry.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

    2. 9:44 I’m sure the photographer is aware.

  18. Diba sa Instagram, if you post on their platform, wala ka nang copyright. Instagram is owned by Facebook, diba? Photographer posted on Facebook, I think rules apply equally. So, are pictures really still ours when we post them on social media? Feeling ko kasi talaga hindi na eh. Hehe. Or better yet, do not post them. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So you think babayaran ka na now that you just made it public? You could have been handled this better and requested to be paid in a professional manner. I think some photos (especially exclusive ones) need to be paid, but you just burned bridges with a client.

    2. Well, I'd much rather burn bridges with a freeloader who hasn't spent any effort, time or money to get these pictures. What have I got to gain. Besides, this freeloader has not done it just once but several times. Namimihasa na. Hindi na nahiya.

      Delete
    3. That's his livelihood. He takes pictures, if one wants to use it, they pay. Isn't it obvious when the researcher said "I hope you can waive fees" . It's a given fact that they pay for the items they want to use. What do you expect, 4:04. He may have made it public but no one has the right to repost it. They need to ask for his permission esp when it has to be shown on national tv.

      Delete
The bigger picture is magagamit yung mga pics para sa mga donation, for a good cause.

    1. Natural. At bakit hindi. That's his daily bread. He takes the pictures and videos and sells them to interested parties. In other words, he does the leg work. The network who does not want their feet wet can pay for these pictures to use for their news.

      Delete
  21. Idk ha, pero the photos as well as the caption brings info to the public, awareness kumbaga. I don't see why kailangan niyang magpabayad? In the middle of a tragedy? Besides, he said no, pinilit pa ba siya? In this time of fear and anxiety, sana be kind naman.

I noticed two Filipinas who would go from one stall to the other taking in not one but a few samples from each stall. I got curious so as I got closer, both are laughing and one person said "hayan, tapos na ang lunch break. Balik na tayo sa trabaho. These ladies are there for freebies for their lunch. I just smiled (typical Filipinos). However, they're forgetting that these are samples and not a BUFFET.

Images are licensed material, covered by existing copyright laws. Any researcher/media company worth their salt knows that. The problem is, dahil sa dami ng pumapayag na ctto na lang ang images nila it has become the norm instead of an exception. Alam nila yan, kaya nga they are asking for permission to use it in ALL platforms kasi pag ginamit nila ng walang permission, pwede mademonetize or matake-down yung videos nila. It's not as if they don't have the resources to pay no.

  39. Kuripot talaga ang GMA. Periodt. Me karapatang magdemand siya kasi pinaghirapan nya yan. Saka pwede ba sa nagsasabi na need nya permission hello he is telling a stort through photos to alarm everyone and to invite everyone to share their blessings. Pwede ba! Realtalk lang. Anong nice nice na nagpaalam? This has been a practice. Ano credit credit nalang? Juskopo!

    1. They just asked if they can use his photos. It was not like he was hired in the first place to take the photos first and then he was not paid for it. That's entirely different. He is disappointed that they did not use his photos that's why he took it out to social media instead. That's wrong.

  40. Ganid na show. 🤣

  41. Sa mga nagsasabing permission eh okay na, walang libre. the networks earn from their shows and the views. Trabaho niya yan so dapat bayaran sha if gagamitin. Naiintindihan ko kasi may photography business din kami at nakakabadtrip naman talaga kapag may nagtatanong kung pwede gamitin for FREE. alam niyo ba kung magkano ang camera? shempre may shelf life din ang camera so eventually, kelangan din niya magupgrade, gastos un. it is a decent job that deserves decent compensation. pay for the photos or take your own. geez

  42. Professional Photographer. Wala na dapat i-explain. Kailangan BAYARAN. I remember the singer Jamie Rivera ba yun? Nag speak out din before, kasi wala naman siya masyadong guestings, but everytime i bobook siya gusto FREE lang. Siguro pwede mag ask ng extra song, or extra picture. Wag naman lahat LIBRE. Lalo na kung may budget naman.

Anung akala nyo jan editorial photoshoot? Pang preview or Mega magazine? Shushunga.

  44. Ang OA nung photographer. kung murahin yung researcher eh mahirap din yung researcher. plus his work will be featured on the number one show in the country. baka sya pa dapat magbayad para mapromote trabaho nya. kung pipitsuging show eh di dapat magbayad siguro para umangat ratings.

  45. Dapat din kase wag pamihasain, learn to say NO, otherwise..in all aspects of life, aabusuhin ka tlga pag laging kang umoo.

  46. I get his point, pero in fairness sa staff na ka-message nya, he was politely asked, he could have also responded nicely also. And again, this is not to say na wala sya sa katwiran.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He is disappointed because it was then decided that his pictures will no longer be used for the show. Why did he take it out to social media? That's just wrong. It is very quick to judge, but is what the peson telling the truth?

He could have just said Sorry, my pictures are for sale.

Kailangan ba niyang magalit at mambastos?

  50. He asked for respect pero tinarayan nman nya un GMA staff who asked him politely. Anyway, now more people know his name now.
