  1. Depression isn’t an illness that should be taken lightly. Not just in Korea but throughout the world. A person maybe smiling today and tomorrow he’ll be taking his life away. Be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of the people around you. Open your ears to those in need of a listener. Slowly open your mouth and release all those bottling frustrations.

Rest In Peace our dear Jonghyun.

  2. My heart broke with this news dahil lang sa music kaya siya nagsuicide.. I think iba tlaga ang pressure with them to write their own songs. Kahit super talented na nya in the eyes of his fans ay for him sobra lack of skill pa din tingin nya sa sarile nya.. Kakalungkot.

    2. Anon 637. It was stated by a very close friend of his. He doesn’t have any problem with his family. It was the pressure of being an idol and musician that cause him grief. He felt that everything that he did is worth nothing. He wants to prove that he is better than his previous self. But human mind and emotion has its limit. It taken a toll on him and now he’s gone.

  3. I'm a diehard Shawol back in my college days (2012-2013). I'm so sad right now. Isa si Jonghyun sa masasabi mo may power vocals in kpop industry. It is so sad na feeling niya is matanda na siya and hindi na sapat ang talentong meron siya kaya sya nadepress ng sobra. RIP Jonghyun-oppa.

    1. That's not the reason. Mema lang ate? Depression isn't always about job or age. It's an illness.

    2. Suicide. His last text to his sister was “Please send me away. It was hard. Tell me that I’ve worked hard. This is my last farewell.”

The sister called the cops. He was already dead when they got to him.

Depression is no joke. You see them smile, yet their soul is dying inside. Tragic and very sad. Wish we could do more to help those who are suffering from this illness and all other mental issues.

I know non-Kpop fans won't and will understand kaya sasabihin 'OA, ang drama'. But I follow Korean entertainment more than our local's. And SHINee and Jonghyun are both really big names in Korea, even internationally, so it's really heartbreaking.

    2. Huh??? Grabe. Please be respectful, may namatay o. Fandom war mode ka pa rin while everyone, LIKE ALL FANDOMS REALLY, is mourning? Kung saang fandom ka man kasali, nakakaawa ang mga idolo mo having you as their fan. SHAME ON YOU.

  11. The problem with SKorean culture is that they’re very superficial and vain. They’re pressured to be good looking and skinny, well educated, to have a high paying job, and to be married to someone who you can boast around in the neighborhood.
SKorean culture is actually much more judgmental than Pilipino culture. Living there must be so stressful.

    1. Very true. SK entertainment industry and sasaeng fans are toxic. Very extreme. They love or hate the artist to death.

One of the worst I’ve seen was with Tablo many years ago, they threatened to kill him and his family because they refuse to believe that he went to Stanford. He even went there on camera to get his credentials and meet some faculty. He was traumatized, refused to go in public, stopped making music (he’s an awesome songwriter). It took years before the public settled down a little bit and the culprit put in prison. He is lucky he was able to do his craft again, unlike many others that continue to suffer bashings from knets.

    2. Naalala ko yung kay tablo, nakakaloka yun, from what I remember nag step in pa yata yung stanford para lang iprove na nagaral siya dun. Isa pa yung kay Kim Hyun Joong, apparently his ex girlfriend made false accussations of abuse and sinira siya talaga through trial by publicity. Seems like very unforgiving ang culture nila, pag di ka squeaky clean o magkamali ng konti eh parang you don't deserve to exist na.

  12. He had been receiving treatments for depression but never got better. I think the intense pressure from the music industry drove him to the brink. He was very talented but felt lacking.

  13. Commenters 1:38 and 11:16. Shame on you to use this tragic incident to spread misinformation and create/fuel fandom war. Your intent is transparent.

  14. Nalungkot ako nung kinuwento niya yung story sa isang interview(?) na one time nalasing siya ng sobra, tapos ginising niya ang nanay at kapatid niya and he asked them if they were happy.
