The local casino industry was jolted at the news that Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, Inc. (TRLEI) has removed Kazuo Okada as chairman of the board. Under TRLEI is Okada Manila, which was recently launched and is now being promoted with various attractions not only to gamers, but to locals who want to experience the offerings of the casino resort complex.

The removal of the billionaire Okada was based on a board decision emanating from a special stockholders meeting. This move was in response to the decision of Universal Entertainment Corporation (UEC) to investigate further Okada on an alleged anomaly. The initial investigation revealed that close to $ 2 million company funds might have been improperly moved by Okada.

Okada Manila is under UEC, Japan. According to reports, retired Justice Manuel Lazaro will replace Okada as board chairman, while Kenji Sugiyama will be president. Other personalities in the board are Rey David, Steve Wolstenholme, and Tonyboy Cojuangco.

  3. For a billionaire to improperly move $2 million worth of money? What was he thinking? For a meager amount, in terms of BILLIONS kasi nila. Parang weird lang.

  7. WHY would a well known billionaire Japanese businessman risk his reputation over 2 million dollars? Something's fishy.

    1. Another point is they all went into business together without doing research on their prospective partners and board members? Okada's reputation isn't exactly the most ideal from the start. Only now that the casino's up and running they think of ejecting him as chairman?
