The Secret to a Healthier, Longer Life

We all know that water makes up 70-75% of the body weight of an average human being. Fact of the matter, one can survive for up to 4 weeks without food but no longer than 3 days without water.

Water distributes essential nutrients to cells. It also removes waste products including toxins that the organs’ cells reject, and removes them through urines and feces. Water participates in the biochemical break-down of what we eat. Water has a large heat capacity which helps the body adjusts in a warm or a cold environment.

But do you know that there should be the right kind of water that we should be drinking?

This is Alkaline Water.

In a study and research done by a British journalist for the Guinness Book of Records, the world’s oldest documented living person is a 115-year-old man Shigechiyo Izumi from Japan. While on assignment, the journalist was amazed by Izumi’s vitality and the fact that he had worked until the age of 105

SHIGECHIYO IZUMI
(June 29, 1865- February 21, 1986)

In his findings, the journalist realized most of the islands’ inhabitants were physically fit, with long life spans and low incidences of serious illnesses. A remarkable discovery led them to the kind of water the islanders drank was different from water found anywhere else in the world. They were drinking from a preserved water source with unique characteristics. Not only does it contain many essential minerals, it is also very alkaline, with a pH between 7 and 8.5.

Researcher found this highly alkaline pH of the water to be very beneficial that it helped give the body an acid-alkaline balance.

It was also observed that in other parts of the world, like Hunzas of North Pakistan, the Tibetans, Armenians, Azerbajans, and the Titicacas of Peru, all live long and healthy lives, with no degenerative disease. Significant findings conclude the importance of the alkalinity and anti-oxidant qualities of the water they consumed.

And modern-age doctors, health practitioners and researchers attest that the key to good health is to have an alkaline lifestyle coupled with proper diet and exercise, to promote over-all positive well-being.

The same Japanese technology is produced in every IZUMI alkaline water ionizers, which is now here in the Philippines.

Distributed by AqualiPure Water Systems & Equipment, Inc., the IZUMI 5P ANTIOXIDANT ALKALINE WATER IONIZER is a convenient, economical, safer, hassle-free way to produce alkaline water by passing filtered tap water through a Water Ionizer. The Water Ionizer electrically splits the filtered tap water into Alkaline Antioxidant Water for drinking and Acidic Water for beauty & medical uses. The alkaline water produced by IZUMI 5P has antioxidant properties that help reduce oxidative damage, and because it is highly oxygenated, micro-clustered, it is good for faster hydration. Its alkaline pH level is good to neutralize acidic wastes in our body.

With the IZUMI antioxidant alkaline water ionizer, we can now already enjoy the health benefits of alkaline water in the comforts of our home or office.

And the List Goes On

The aftermath of the brouhaha involving Flawed Actor FA vis a vis an Amateur Talent AT proved to be too hot to handle for the people around FA. Reportedly, FA's handlers were turned upside down by the unexpected reactions of the public on the controversial incident.

Obviously, FA didn’t know the dire consequences of his actions, until everything just blew on his face. The incident so impacted on the netizens that people within the network had a hard time doing an awesome damage control to at least mitigate the situation.

One Major Star MS attempted to draw sympathy for FA saying that he was already so affected by the issue that his normal life was already so badly compromised. MS' stance could have been successful had FA not sighted eating with so much gusto in a restaurant. Apart from it, followers were outraged that FA's online posturings blatantly belied MS' claims, making them feel that they were being taken for a ride.

That is why when network major staff was instructed by the network to apologize to the public for FA, most people quipped that it was a major fail, a desperate attempt to salvage the people's growing uproar against FA.

Unknown to the public, FA was given a major dressing down by his superiors for his biggest blunder ever. They chided him for drawing so much negativity to himself so early in his career. Reportedly, FA was told that if he would not shape up, he would bear the brunt of all his notoriety.

Industry players and observers are now in a wait and see mode as to the fate that will befall FA in this latest notoriety added to his list.

Surely, FA haters can't wait.

Measuring the Distraction

Sometime ago, Skilled Actor (SA) seemed to be next in line to be built up by a big network. SA had the looks and the body that made heads turn. Moreover, SA was among the most talented in his network. He also had his share of fans. In terms of acting, SA was an actor who can do offbeat roles and had no qualms about playing roles that required much sensitivity.

As months passed, his exposure lessened. SA had already appeared as a lead actor in a teleserye that, unfortunately, did not bring the expected high ratings. Moreover, SA was hounded by rumors about his sexual preference and even an alleged partner. While these rumors might have affected his female following, SA remained popular among the bekis.

SA was once spotted working out in a gym. Obviously, his fitting get-up caught the attention of other people who were at the same place. His giftedness in that aspect was so noticeable that some got a bit distracted. However, instead of being approached, SA was left alone to do his workout. Perhaps, some were imagining how well endowed SA is. If another hunk had the guts to approach SA and gave hints, would SA give away his alleged true self? What do you think?

The hardest thing to do is to be true to yourself, especially when everybody is watching. -Dave Chappelle

Cedric Lee Caught on CCTV Kissing Deniece Cornejo Inside Elevator

Atty. Raymond Fortun Belittles Cedric Lee-Deniece Cornejo's Kissing Video

Lawyer Raymond Fortun on Friday said new CCTV footage showing businessman Lee kissing model Deniece Cornejo inside an elevator is a "non-issue."

In his Facebook page, Fortun reacted to various comments about the footage, which is now in the hands of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI):

“Maybe it's just me, but it looks like the girl didn't even want to be kissed. Others will think otherwise. What matters is, again, what I PERSONALLY KNOW," said Fortun, a spokesman of Lee.

"I have met with DC (Deniece Cornejo) and CL (Cedric Lee) in a meeting and over dinner. Di ko nakita nor naramdaman na close sila. For me, this is another non-issue because it does not prove or disprove the parties' version of events that night,” he added.

"I will NOT say that the CCTV lies. We all saw what we saw. And yes, I'm glad that you noticed that the big group was so relaxed when they went inside the elevator. So... Doesn't look like this group was heading for a fight, tama ba?” Fortun said, in a reply to another comment on his page.

He said he is objecting to the word “passionately” to describe the kisses Lee gave to a smiling Cornejo, after the mauling incident of actor Vhong Navarro on January 22.

“I would object to the use of the word ‘passionately’ then I would pull out the definition from the dictionary. Then I would pull my wife and kiss her in a passionate manner to prove my point. I expect to be sustained by the judge,” he said.

Fortun also believes that the CCTV footage will not affect the case.

“First public statement of CL that they are just friends? As I said, it seemed that the girl didn't even want to be kissed. CL didn't even embrace her, nor did she embrace back. So... the kisses on the cheeks aside, it (won't) affect the case,” he said.

Is It Game Over?

Whatever this Veteran Host VH does often gets talked about in the four corners of showbiz. No longer as relevant than when he was during his heyday, VH now allegedly tries to stay afloat and important amidst controversies and strong competition.

Observers say that VH should have learned when to step down years ago, when the applause was still there. Now people call him pathetic as he seems to really overstay his welcome.

Reportedly a Network Executive NE had already sent VH feelers that his show would be up on the chopping board any moment. The argument is that his show had ceased to be profitable, with hardly any advertiser coming in.

On learning this, VH reportedly threatened the network people concerned that should they chop his show, he would be compelled to pull out all his talents in the network and that he himself would resign.

NE rationalized that not only is VH show not earning anything, but its continuous airing has been bad business for so long, encurring huge financial drain for the network. Overhead expense is just too high.

But people privy to VH said that his strong sentiments for the show is so understandable. For years, VH has been using the show as an avenue to hook young boys for his earthly desires. Allegedly, he spoils them to death, at times even prioritizing their needs over his.

Interestingly, a handful of them are now very successful in their respective careers and endeavors – politics, music, showbiz, among others. Could HV have taught them well, including being clean and sleeping more? After all, it’s a shining, shimmering, splendid world out there. Say you?

Filipino Skater Makes It from Mall to Olympics

Michael Martinez nailed the bow at the end.

Four bows, to be exact, though no one could blame him. He didn’t seem to want to leave the ice Thursday night, and no one was going to blame him for that, either.

This wasn’t the shopping mall in the Philippines, where he learned his jumps and spins while trying to avoid parents and their kids skating by on family outings. This was the Iceberg Skating Palace and this was the Olympics, where the teenager was desperate for the skate of his young life.

He had less than three minutes to prove himself in the short program and make it to the men’s free skate final.

If he didn’t, he might have to be thinking about the next step, perhaps working for his family raising vegetables to sell to Japan.

The expenses had become too much. The mall had contributed some money, but in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan there wasn’t much the government could do for a figure skater, the nation’s only competitor in Sochi.

The family home had already been mortgaged to pay for his skating. There was no more to give.

“We’re hoping he makes it and some companies support him,” his mother, Maria Teresa Martinez, said. “Otherwise he will just have to stop. We cannot afford it anymore. It’s just so expensive and we can’t do another four years.”

In a sequined and braided black and white outfit donated by a designer in New York who saw his Facebook plea for proper Olympic attire, Martinez took the biggest stage of his life, skating just two spots before the great Evgeni Plushenko was supposed to go in front of a capacity crowd at the Olympic arena.

He acknowledged the polite applause, gliding to the center of the ice. He paused, struck a pose, and then began the most important skate of his career.

“I was so nervous,” he said. “This was such a big event.”

He had reason to be. At 17, he is the youngest skater in the program and the only Filipino figure skater ever in the Olympics.

Still, Martinez was sure he would prevail. The gangly kid with the mop of black hair had to, because this has been his life ever since he walked by the rink in the Manila mall at the age of 9, saw the skaters, and declared to his mother that this was something he wanted to do.

He fell on his behind that day, but that didn’t stop him from coming back the next. Neither did the asthma that put him in the hospital many times and kept him from playing sports outdoors.

“I WILL make the free skate,” he declared after practice the night before. “Because I am prepared.”

Preparation, though, only counts so much. So on his Facebook page, Martinez asked his friends to “Please pray for me.”

He began his skate by hitting a nice triple axel, drawing applause from the crowd. But on his second jump he didn’t finish the rotation on a triple lutz and triple toe loop, lowering his marks from the judges.

But his spins were good, the rest of the program nicely skated. Most importantly, he didn’t look like a 17-year-old making his Olympic debut.

In 2 minutes and 39 seconds, Martinez showed he belonged. And now all there was to do was to wait.

“I’m very happy and proud,” he said. “I missed just one jump but the rest of the program was good.”

In the kiss-and-cry area, Martinez waved his jacket with “Philippines” on the back to the crowd, drawing cheers. He sat with the Russian coach his mother — who learned skating along with her son so she could save money by coaching him herself — had hired for him, flashing a thumbs-up sign as his score was posted.

It was 64.81, his best ever. But Martinez would have to wait again to find out whether it would be good enough to be one of the top 24 skaters who make it to the free skate.

“I think so, maybe half and half,” he said. “I’m a little confident, but then I’m not.”

Nearby, though, some of the other early skaters were struggling. Some fell trying jumps, others made mistakes that lowered their scores.

Plushenko himself fell on a triple axel in warm-ups, hurting his back and ending his bid to add another medal on home ice to the four he already won.

Suddenly, the math was starting to look good. It wasn’t official yet, but Martinez had made it in.

“I feel like a real champion,” he said.

For one night at the Olympics, that’s exactly what the kid from the mall was.
