Ever Dependable

Supportive Male (SM) received a call from Troubled Talent (TT) asking for urgent financial assistance. SM was surprised as TT seemed to be having a good life away from troubles. TT said he was in an unexpected bind that could ruin him if he would not be able to raise the money to pay up.
Allegedly, TT read wrong signals from Another Person (AP) and the misreading resulted in an unforgettable moment. TT thought AP was all in, but he was not. The moment changed TT and AP. However, the repercussion would be detrimental to TT and his reputation would be tarnished once details are leaked. AP wanted compensation as TT’s alleged act affected his future.
Legally, TT was at a losing end and the recourse was to address AP’s financial need. Hence, SM was called to help. TT knew that SM would keep his mouth shut and things will proceed smoothly without people knowing.
SM could not keep quiet and confided all details to Dependable Female (DF). DF was worried and checked on TT to make sure he was okay. TT again asked for secrecy. The good heart of DF was not only verbal, but material as well. DF sent financial help to TT to make sure he had a good place to sleep in, as he was supposedly kicked out of his home by a lover due to that moment.

To avoid any unneeded confrontation and subsequent ill-feelings, Resourceful Woman (RW) gave in to the request of Exploring Boy (EB). Over the years, EB has been dependent on RW on his needs and transactions. When he came to the right age, he expressed wanting to be more independent and explore more of life as an adult. The first step was to have control over money.
RW suspected that EB might have been influenced by Elder Personality (EP). EP’s connections with EB strengthened the suspicion of RW. EB assured RW that he will still provide for her in the future. This time, he wanted to make decisions on financial matters so he could gain sufficient experience that could prepare him later in his life. Thus, as RW adhered to EB’s request, she made sure EP knew about it.
Meanwhile, RW cannot just rely on the word of EB and side hustles. The side jobs can only pay so much and RW has to ensure her own lifestyle. A once-in-a-lifetime offer came that could make RW allegedly earn more than enough within a short period. Nonetheless, nothing is easy, as there was a catch.
Although RW agreed to the lucrative offer, she needed EB’s support to fortify the outcome of the offer. EB was not ecstatic with RW’s proposal. He allegedly declined giving his support, a response RW could not bring to tell her future benefactors. For now, the waiting game begins if EB would give in to RW or not at all.

Female Celebrity (FC) and her Best Friend (BF) shared an admirable relationship that was praised by their fans and colleagues. Their friendship seemed genuine and strong; that was until Gorgeous Man (GM) entered the picture.
FC and GM hit it off. BF kept her distance as the two were becoming serious. One day, BF found herself knowing about the existence of New Dude (ND) in the life of FC. She kept quiet, minded her own business, but defended FC and ND. Meanwhile, FC and ND did their own thing in secrecy. The rumor reached GM and he stayed away from FC.
Soon, BF and GM found themselves together, which was perfect for FC. However, FC wanted GM to say something positive about her. He said he was busy. FC formed her conclusion that BF might have said negative things that made GM distant.
Time passed and FC and BF grew apart. The rift widened as they pursued diverse interests. Later, BF heard about a comment of FC that seemed to put malice in her personal life. Instead of confronting FC, BF dismissed the statement as she would rather live in truth and face her numerous commitments.

The lack of publicity on the appearance of Versatile Talent (VT) left many in wonder. Usually, social media would hype new talents making an appearance in a network’s various programs. In the case of VT, the silence was enough to catch the attention of Influential Head (IH).
VT belongs to the celebrities who, instead of remaining idle and waiting for projects, decided to risk their careers. In other words, VT sought assignments and created opportunities.
Nonetheless, the risk was high for VT. Although VT had several projects, visibility was insufficient to ensure a place among the A-listers. Slowly, VT’s relevancy seemed to lessen. VT took action and approached IH. IH’s team was excited to have VT, but realized their venture lacked support from Higher Heads (HH).
IH talked to his contacts who told him that an order came from HH not to make a big deal of VT. IH learned of a misunderstanding allegedly attributed to VT’s camp that placed HH in bad light. Hence, VT cannot even work with HH. Realizing the importance of HH, IH apparently intends to reach out to clear the gap between VT and HH. After all, VT would still be a valuable asset in the future.

Guess Who's Playing Joker This Halloween?
Trick or treat!
Actor/director David Chua gamely took on the challenge of cosplaying one of his favorite characters, and with the scenic Escolta district as his backdrop, recreated some of his favorite scenes from the iconic DC Comics movies which starred Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix.
With his longish hair and lean, muscular physique, David was a natural shoo-in for the part, his menacing smile and ghostly clown face in stark contrast to his wildly flamboyant wardrobe aesthetic. It's a look that definitely made him a clear standout as he and his glam team turned the idyllic Manila district into a Gotham City of sorts. Good thing no one turned on the Bat Signal.
So, what made him choose the Joker for his Halloween look?
He says, "The Joker has always fascinated me. He's a good soul, a victim—not really the bad guy. He's like a lunatic, destructive clown with no filters on the outside, but still a child deep inside."
Who did better justice to their silver screen portrayals: Heath Ledger or Joaquin Phoenix?
David muses, "Ledger's interpretation isn't as multi-dimensional, probably because of the script, but for telling the Joker's story as a human-being-gone-wrong, it's Joaquin Phoenix 100%."
What was the inspiration behind the out-of-the-box location for the photoshoot?
David explains, "I'm a true-blue Batang Maynila. I think the city is beautiful despite its imperfections. It has so many stories to tell. Here, you can still find the restaurant where Andres Bonifacio and his wife went to eat in. It's still open."
"The history of Escolta, in itself, reminds us of who we were and who we can again be. There is a parallelism between Manila and The Joker. It's either you survive or you don't," he intones seriously.
Asked to pick his most scenic Manila spots, David singles out Intramuros (for its Jose Rizal references), Jones Bridge (for its European vibe), the baywalk area (for its picturesque sunset), and Chinatown, for its food and culture. "Mainly the areas with the old, elegant architecture," he points out.
Despite Manila's gradual decadence over the past decades, David feels lucky to see a drastic makeover, thanks in large part to the efforts of incumbent Manila mayor Isko Moreno.
Referencing his Joker character once more, he quips, "In the same way that Gotham City needed a hero, Manila needs a hero as well, and I think Isko is doing a pretty good job at it. If he can do that for the city, I'm pretty confident that he can do it for the country. He definitely has my vote."
For his part, David has been doing his share in contributing to the welfare of the cityfolk, particularly during the lingering pandemic. Among his humble efforts are his food relief operations in some slum areas.
Although not too keen on running for public office, David feels that he can do a lot more on his own. He points out, "Given a chance, I'd like to support the development of cultural and artists' hubs in the city. Before the Covid crisis, Manila was already transforming into a cultural hub with coffee shops and art expos left and right."
With his humble but noble vision for his city, seems like there's more to David than the anti-hero cosplay character that he picked for his Halloween inspiration. Who knows, he might end up being a superhero of sorts in his own right?
As the local showbiz scene slowly returns to normalcy, David is also thankful for the big breaks coming his way. He has recently auditioned for a major role in a TV reboot of a popular and long-running movie series.
For his Joker photo shoot, David credits his team which includes renowned fashion photographer Doc Marlon Pecjo, stylist Gee Jocson, hair and make-up artist Gabby Laxamana ("who seems the BFF of my wild head of hair") and his trusty handler Ethan Leyson from ALV Talent Circuit ("if you want efficiency, that's Ethan!").

Youthful Talent (YT) possesses one of the most amiable faces among his contemporaries. He keeps a low profile despite having spent many years working for various productions and endorsements. Moreover, YT has kept much of his personal life away from the public eye. He shuns controversy and shies away when asked for his opinions on relevant matters.
Meanwhile, Versatile Actress (VA) has struggled with her career since she started. Her patience and determination paid off, as she was given a break in several dramas of a network. With a growing reputation and popularity, VA was able to explore other endeavors and not be tied to acting solely.
Sometime ago, YT and VA hooked up. They hit it off given that they have common friends and workplace. Although nothing serious or at least relationship-status was heard about the two, they maintained that they are friends. Thus, the inner circle was shocked to find out that YT and VA were not simply friends. They were intimate. Both are single, which probably added to their immediate attraction to one another.
What was controversial was that their fun times resulted in a shocking experience for YT. Allegedly, YT got sick and VA was not off the hook. YT assumed VA might have had other dating partners, but then he could not confront her seriously, as they were merely casual partners. Asking her about her dating might offend VA. YT learned that he should have been wiser when going to bed with anyone and think beyond lust.
