"Mr. Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano said he feels that his son, Gab, was not ready when he married blogger-model Tricia Centenera.
Gab married Centenera three times – in a civil ceremony in the United States in 2014, and in Tagaytay and Boracay in 2015.
In an interview on ANC's Headstart hosted by Karen Davila on Friday, Valenciano said he thinks Gab was "trying to keep up with the Joneses" when he decided to tie the knot.
"I had to apologize to him because there were times that I felt even before they got married that perhaps, Gab was trying to keep up with the Joneses. Because Jericho Rosales got married, other friends of Paolo (Valenciano, Gab's brother) got married, Paolo got married, and now Gab was left behind," Valenciano said.
"So when they finally did get married, even before that, I would look at my son Gabriel all the time and just watch him. And I have to trust because he seems to know exactly what he wants. So that's when prayer really became so much a part of my life. As in a different kind of prayer... which was, 'Lord, you just have to guide my son and touch his heart,'" he added.
Valenciano said the things that his son and Centenera went through in their marriage would probably "drive many people crazy."
"Gab and Tricia have both been through so, so much. I mean, many people, it would drive them crazy," he said.
It was in September 2016 when rumors about the couple's marital woes first surfaced. This as Centenera shared on Twitter a quote about "making something new."
She has since confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Valenciano wanted to end their marriage, and claimed that the young singer-dancer has been "emotionally abusive to her."
Gab for his part, has said that he wants to deal with his marriage problems privately.
In October last year, Centenera revealed that her husband Gab has apologized for cheating on her.
