A Kid Might be Arriving
Could love be sweeter the second time around? The reconciliation of Male Celebrity (MC) and Female Discovery (FD) surprised many of their followers in the same way as their breakup that happened years ago. At that time, MC and FD were madly in love with each other even though they were not being paired in any project of the network. MC had several leading ladies for his various projects, while FD seemed to be geared towards an individual career. Then, just like that, MC and FD called it quits, and FD was most affected allegedly.
With MC facing difficult career choices then, FD was relegated to second and thus, was no longer his priority. While her career was moving well with their station, the lure of seemingly greener pastures tempted MC. Thus, FD had to heal her heart and thus, took on an uncanny rebound relationship with Versatile Talent (VT). Throughout that time, MC was not rumored to be with any female personality.
Time and circumstance conspired to bring back MC and FD. This time, the two are more mature and after what they have undergone, are believed to be wiser. However, rumors are circulating that their passion might have been a bit too much. When FD was allegedly seen at a Women’s Clinic, speculations hovered on the idea that she might be infanticipating. Thus, her social media accounts are now closely being watched, and her followers are hoping that FD would provide obvious clues on this matter. Without any reaction the said rumor, her recent postings are being interpreted as signs that she is indeed expecting a bundle of joy with MC.
As this year is a make or break year for MC given his controversies, this news might affect the way he has so far handled his career. With an alleged new inspiration, MC could perhaps already become more serious with his career, as this time, he might have to do things no longer alone. As for FD, she is quite independent and if such rumor were indeed true, she would definitely be accepted.

‘Seklusyon’ to Release Director’s Cut Version
Hot on the heels of its successful run at the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival where it ranked as the only consistent blockbuster nationwide, Erik Matti’s acclaimed horror thriller, “Seklusyon” will re-open in limited cinemas starting January 14 (Saturday) with its complete Director’s Cut, rated R-16 by the MTRCB.
Also known as the film’s international release, the Director’s Cut of “Seklusyon” is the original version that drew rave reviews from various Hollywood publications, The Hollywood Reporter and VARIETY after its well-received world premiere at the International Film Festival & Awards Macau (IFFAM2016).
Calling the film “a grainy, gory parable about the triumph of evil,” The Hollywood Reporter’s Clarence Tsui wrote, “[‘Seklusyon’] drips with a ferocity about how false messiahs manipulate meek minds who, as the film's finale suggests, then propel even more malicious pretenders onto the pedestals of power. The film is Matti's call for an awakening, and it certainly stirs with spine-tingling moments aplenty.”
Meanwhile, Maggie Lee of VARIETY notes, “The film is veteran Filipino genre director Erik Matti’s skillful reworking of the “Omen” conceit, in the elegant, nostalgic style reminiscent of Spanish horror films like “The Devil’s Backbone.” SEKLUSYON recalls the hushed horror of Matti’s earlier ghost mystery “Pa-siyam” as both draw on Christian orthodoxy and indigenous superstitions to unmask human hypocrisy. Here, the film’s sardonic denouement hints at what’s at stake for democracy in our so-called “post-truth generation.”
Director Erik Matti says his version of “Seklusyon” delves further into the relationship between Anghela Sta. Ana, the mysterious child with miraculous healing powers played by MMFF Special Jury Prize winner Rhed Bustamante and the equally enigmatic Madre Cecilia portrayed by MMFF Best Supporting Actress Phoebe Walker.
The Director’s Cut of the film also further expands on the backstory of Madre Cecilia and her particular effect on one of the deacons, Fabian played by young actor, Dominic Roque.
Shot with a modest budget of P25 million, “Seklusyon” is both a commercial and critical success at the MMFF. The film went on to gross nearly P100 million at the box office and consistently ranked number 2 among top-grossing films in Metro Manila and in the provinces.
It also won the most number of awards in the MMFF with a total of eight honors that also includes Best Screenplay (Anton Santamaria), Best Cinematography (Neil Bion), Best Sound Design (Lamberto Casas, Jr. and Albert Michael Idioma), Best Production Design (Ericson Navarro) and Best Original Theme Song (“Dominus Miserere” By Francis de Veyra).
“Seklusyon” drew rave reviews from local critics which contributed to the strong word of mouth that made it the number one trending topic on social media throughout the film festival’s 10-day run and its subsequent five-day extension period.
Set in post-war 1947, the film follows the story of four deacons (Ronnie Alonte, Dominic Roque, John Vic de Guzman and JR Versales) who are required to undergo a one-week retreat in a seclusion house prior to their ordination as full-fledged priests. Trained to resist the devil’s temptations, the four are instead forced to confront their inner demons. Their stay in the seclusion house is compounded further when they are joined by Anghela and Madre Cecilia.
Produced by Reality Entertainment, “Seklusyon” also stars Neil Ryan Sese, Lou Veloso, Elora Españo, Jerry O’ Hara and Teroy Guzman. The R16 version opens Jan 14 in select cinemas.

Doubtful Reaction
One of the latest trends that seem to add prestige to the status of celebrities is venturing into publications. Over the past months, a number of celebrities have launched their books that covered insights to their biographies. Others have even authored children’s stories. Thus, another dimension has been added to the talents of these personalities.
Riding the bandwagon is Celebrity Model (CM) who thought it was time to share to the world some words of wisdom that she has garnered from her experiences. With several exciting moments that delved on triumphs and tragedies, CM has lived a colorful life. She has had her share of milestones and even life events that were envied at first, but disdained the next.
Thus, when CM launched her masterpiece, she decided to go to the trendy style of inviting social media writers to help promote her project. Naturally, most of these writers have set expectations on the flow of activities of the launch. However, they were very disappointed at the way things turned out. First, they noticed that their food was different from those served to VIPs. Obviously, the VIPS had better food and the writers were given the usual. Then, no materials or even copies of the book were distributed free. Hence, most of the writers deliberately did not write in their usual way when it came to CM’s project.
With low publicity, sales did not pick up. Rather than remain in oblivion, CM allegedly started purchasing her own book and started giving copies as her Yuletide present. This year’s gift was a far cry from the usual posh items CM gave away. Nonetheless, one of these recipients was Traditional media Personality (TP). During one of her visits to the network, CM bumped into TP and asked her how she found her gift. With her amiable personality, TP replied that she loved everything about it. To which, CM further asked which specific part did TP like. To get her out of the jam, TP repeated her response and stressed that she loved it.
Given the expected response of TP, CM could not help but doubt if the former had indeed given her project time. Well, what TP did not know was that a close friend of CM saw her assistant holding on to the gift and perusing it. No wonder TP could not reply convincingly; someone else had the book.
