Heneral Luna is one. Pag maganda ang project at matiyaga ang marketing, susuportahan yan. Aba, you have to make it worth people's time and money ano?

      Delete

      Delete
    6. I THOUGHT SHE WAS FAMOUS, TOO? MILLIONS DIN ATA FOLLOWERS NIYA DI BA SA IG?

    7. people will watch what they want to watch.

Ako manunuod ng panti sisters kasi magaling ang casts and I would not spend a penny on vice ganda movies.

Just sayin.

      Delete
That’s exactly her point. Judging a movie by its trailer. GURL

      Delete
    11. 5.10 gurl trailer nga e..kaya nga dpat sa trailer pa lang naenganyo na yung manonood..if You are a producer dapat sa trailer pa lang nashowcase mo na yung ganda ng movie kung trailer pa lang waley na bakit pa ko mag aksaya ng pera panoorin yung movie kung wala naman pala mapakita maganda?

      Delete
    8. 3:56 anong di marunong magtagalog? never watched her on Showtime? Never seen any of her tagalog shows? nabubulol lang siya minsan pero kaya nya magsalita ng straight na tagalog. Lol!

  3. The thing is, some are big stars because they earned it. Kaya sila big star kasi magaling sila. Kaya sila gustong panoorin kasi magaling sila magkwento. What good is a good story, no matter the hard work you put into it, if the delivery is mediocre or wala talaga. what people will look for is credibility, the veracity of the material, it’s ability to convey what needs to be said. These big stars can do this kaya sakanila pumipila ang tao. Earn the trust of the people muna iha bago ka maglament ng ganyan.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're wrong. Some big stars are not even that good.

After that, hype nlang ng abs.

      Delete
    3. Very few exceptions though

      Delete

      Delete
    6. Not necessarily. Just look at the movies that do well right now, most are loveteam movies. And let’s be honest, these loveteams aren’t the best actors, they’re just very popular. Popularity doesn’t alwyas equate talent.

      Delete
    7. 10:42 bakit nga ba lumaki fanbase ng artista? malamang dahil sa talent and charm.

      Delete
If you know what I mean.

      Delete

      Delete
    10. 3:40 dahil gullible and uncritically thinkers ang karamihan. They won't question the movie, the acting, the plotline...basta relatable yon movie, may kilig or hugot moments at sympre charming yon bida pasok sa kanila lalo na pagidol pa nila.

      Delete
But basically, same formula.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. But I would like to point out that not all mainstream movies are trash, and not all indie movies are golden.

      Delete
    2. Agree 1257. Just because it's indie doesnt automatically guarantee quality.

      Delete
    3. I agree. Wala actually distinction sa characters played except for their names & character background.

      Delete

      Delete
  5. Kaya nga sa award giving bodies dito sa Pinas, nilalast nila ang Best Actor at Best Actress kasi mas inaabangan yun kesa Best Picture o Best Director. :(

    ReplyDelete

He even said that Angelina Jolie is not that good in acting dahil nahihirapan parin siya sa mga takes nito at naka ilang takes pa siya para lang ma perfect yung eksena. Napagtanto ko din na mananalo ka lang pala ng Oscar awards not because you are talented pero madami ka dapat commercials and back ups. Just look at Johnny Depp sobrang galing aktor kesa sa iba pero wala pa din Oscar award until now. So, yes popularity is rampant both on Hollywood and in Asia. So yes in entertainment industry popularity is always there maoa Hollywood man or mapa Pilipinas.

  9. Let’s face the fact na producers are businessmen. Most of them will invest doon sa sure returns.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It is because of Monopoly. Why??? Because there's something manipulated everything.

  11. I DISAGREE. Movie goers are smart. Take, for example, Kita-Kita Movie. No considered “sikat” starred in it, but because of GOOD ACTING, storyline, the Manoood including the Kabataan watched it. It seems like she is already making an excuse that if this movie do not make the “financial cut” sa takilya - blame on the “Kabataan”! SERIOUSLY?!

      Delete
  18. Hindi rin. Case in point: Kita Kita and Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think she is pertaining to certain celebrities. But fame isn’t the only factor na tinitignan ng viewers. It’s all about marketing strategy. And for sure, movie stars earned their fame kasi magaling sila umarte which is why mas pipiliin ng viewers panoorin sila rather than risking their money of getting wasted.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It’s a sad reality for moviemakers everywhere. Just like Kita Kita and Heneral Luna among others.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow ha, puyat at pagod as artista. Part ng trabaho nio yan. Parang yun mga shift work/job .

Usually yung mga fans out of love you kaya nanunuod.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I disagree. The producers are banking on that.

Why? Kasi maganda yung material. Then saka sila sumisikat. Yung GOT, most of the cast were unknowns.

So sana mag improve ang writers natin. Ibang usapan yung mga indie films or films na made to receive awards.

    1. They all have to work harder than ever if they want to succeed. Sometimes I even see Filipino celebrities going crazy to the extent of promoting Koreans than our own.

Our writers should step up their game/imagination, try to see highly acclaimed movies/series/books. Meron nag suggest dati na instead of teleserye na every night gumawa sila ng tipong series with 10 episodes me nakinig ba? It should start with TV before movies. I have seen Kita Kita and andun ang feeling na parang French movie ang pinanood ko.

People are watching series from Netflix na di naman nila kilala ang celebrities meaning in the end it boils down to good stories and execution.

      Delete

Itong mga taga showbiz they blame the moviegoers and the government but not themselves. Ilang years na nila sinanay ang audience sa ginagawa nilang halos pare pareho so if they really want a change umpisahan nila and wag basta mag expect na overnight okay na ang lahat. It will take time. Gamitin nila ang mediums available within their reach.

    4. Speaking of Filipino writers writing mainstream stories, may Filipino author akong nabasa sa Kindle. Young adult fantasy ang genre niya. Parang I Am Number Four ang dating na may pagka Percy Jackson adventure style. As in very imaginative and original ang world-building and the characters are unique naman. Nakakakilig sobra pero hindi cheesy, as in.

      Delete
    5. 10:18 agree! Daming factors bakit napag-iiwanan tayo sa movies and TV: one is I think limitado ang galaw ng actors, writers and directors dahil uso dito yung may mga exclusive network contracts. They have little to no room for collaboration, they tend to work with the same team kaya stunted ang creativity. Notice how networks hold media conventions to sell upcoming shows to advertisers, for them to place their products sa primetime slot, or how they keep on extending the show kasi mabenta, dibale nang magsuffer ang storyline. May nagmention na sana i-try dito na ilang episodes lang ang i-shoot, then sell the finished product, then make another season pag pumatok. If they do this, pati artista at crew makaka-pahinga.

Wag isisi ang lahat sa viewers. Vicious cycle kasi yan eh: basura ang ipapakain, tapos they expect to nurture a “healthy” audience??

I hope they make something fresh and out of the box. Yung magugulat naman ang mga tao.

    1. I tried watching "That Thing Called Tadhana" in Netflix. Although the concept may have been refreshing at that time, it was actually tedious to try and finish the movie. There comes a point na nakakapagod na yung pagiging self-absorbed nung character ni Angelica. And the never-ending hugots? At the end of the movie, I became more sympathetic na dun sa character ni Joem Basco, lol. And you're right 1:14. Yung mga romcoms sa atin, very tiresome kasi lahat na lang ng characters nagre-revolve lang around the angst of the lead. Wala man lang silang back story sa other characters. As if wala silang buhay at all.

  29. Hard to say, but the mass audience, patronize mediocrity.
They only watch movies based on hype. But to actually balance Sue's argument, may that also be a challenge to the producers, script writers, directors to hone their craft and improve much more to produce quality movies na tatangkilikin ng tao.

  30. sorry sue pero di ba isa ka din sa tumatangkilik ng international artists like kpop group? bumibili ka pa ng ticket para sa concert nila ryt? so its a matter of choice yun... di mo naman mapipilit yung isang tao na panoorin pelikula mo kung ayaw nila... i fnd u really hypocrite sa sinabi mo...

  32. It depends kasi kung audiences are after the celebrity or the actor, magkaiba yun. Mostly they are after the celebrity and not the capability as an actor and the story the movie tells. In reality, recycled and not out of the box mga pinoproduce kasi alam na nila formula for box office returns. Sa totoo lang mas magaganda pinoy movies ng 70s, 80s and 90s in terms of quality, story and acting.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oops! May point but let's view it the other way around.

May that also be challenge to every produces, actors, script writers to hone and improve their craft by thinking outside the box. Granted that you put blood, sweat and tears to a particular craft but expect that not everyone will like it. Movie industry is a business where producers actually prefer revenues more than quality films.

True enough but a painful fact that, not every movie is worth watching. It's not always about how big the actor is, but rather how the emotions are delivered or portrayed, how the lines are written and spoken, etc. Its how a movie tells a story.

One moview, Uge Eugenio's Barber's Tales. Uge isn't really a big star back then until just recently. But her craft received a standing ovation and recognition internationally.

    Ewan ko sayo Sue.

Yung nasasalamin yung buhay nila. For example, the 2 to grossing films, simple lang ang premise hindi complicated, but it was well executed. It's true that it might be rehashed, but alin ba ang hindi.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Instead of blaming the audience, Sue and other industry people like her should point their fingers at the industry itself. I get na kulang sa budget but it's an opportunity to be more creative... but studios go for the ones na sure silang kikita and it's what gets heavily promoted. People are just here to spend their time and money on whatever they think will entertain them para mabawasan naman ang stress sa buhay-buhay. Pressure the bigger studios to take bigger risks, creatives should unionize or whatever. It's an industry problem, not the audience's. Start offering better things on a wider scale(big productions) and people might change their thinking or stereotypes about the quality of Pinoy movies. Hindi audience ang kalaban nyo.

He had to put the thought into perspective for her.

  42. Most movie goers watching pinas movies are younger women and they only watch the usual love this-love that nonsense movies. It’s too funny and sad.

    1. Oh. I'm sorry that your taste is far too refined compared to the majority of people. Maybe you should join in with your so called high society people who have so called high society taste in movies and just intermingle amongst yourselves. Unless you're paying for it... you have no right to judge people and the movies they like.

    2. You are right. They seem to like really bad movies. It’s embarassing.

  43. Pinas used to make good movies by directors like Brocka and Bernal. The local movies now are just awful garbash. Waste of time and money, especially because there are so many really good foreign movies on streaming services.

    1. So true. I’ve watched some of their old movies and they are really good.

  44. Ang bawbaw kasi karamihan sa pinas. Nakakahiya lang talaga.

Our money, our rules. Don’t force us to watch or like your movies kung ayaw naman namin.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow, blame it on the kids? May kanya kanya tayong taste, you can’t force simeone to like a certain film kung di naman nya feel yun. Hindi lahat ng tao pare pareho.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I have watched your movie na allergic sa wifi and hindi naman sya maganda. Stop audience blaming. Bakit nyo kami pipilitin manood ng ayaw namin.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Unfair for you kasi movie mo ang di nila pinanood? Eh pera naman nila yun? People want to be entertained, kung tingin nila maeentertain sila sa movie na gusto nila panoorin, why blame them?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  51. You worked hard for the movie. Kudos. Awesome for you. But, my money, my time, my choice. If I want to watch a movie because of a famous celebrity, it's my choice. We live in a free society and the choice to watch whatever we want, no matter how trashy it may be for you or how shallow my reason for watching it is.

  52. I agree sa mga comments dito na... Hindi naman sa lahat Ng pagkakataon Yung big stars ang nagpapablockbuster sa isang movie...kahit sabihin natin na majority Ng pinoy Yun sikat ang sinususuportahan, pag ang isang movie ay may quality, maganda ACTING and storyline...pumapatok pa din through word of mouth like Kita Kita, general Luna....wag Naman sisihin at maliitin Ng sobra ang mga moviegoers,sa Mahal Ng sine ngayon... talagang Yun dekalidad na movie or Yung IDOL na artista Lang nila ang paglalaanan nila Ng Pera...

Ang producers kase gusto sure money palagi Kaya kahit ligwak and rehash ang storyline basta sikat ang Bida...go na...masabay tuloy Tayo sa ganun na kalakaran.

  53. Sows!

  54. Ang mahal na rin kasi ng price ng movie ticket eh kaya ayaw gumastos ng iba esp kung di sila sure kung magugustuhan nila yun movie or not.

  56. Bakit sya Reklamo? Pano papanoorin movie nya ng young audience eh parang soft porn maryosep

    1. Hindi din kase I went to see Kwaresma it’s one with Sharon and Arcilla maganda solid ang story pati twist, hindi blockbuster. Walang promo masyado. Sayang. Hindi lahat, swerte, swerte lang tlga.

  58. Am sorry I don't agree. Filipino moviegoers now are smarter and can discern the good movies with or without big stars, from the bad ones. Kita kita is an example.

    1. 11:56 kita kita the exception. This is the only movie you can claim to support your argument because in reality kita kita was fluke opposite to big production movies.

  59. The problem is the loveteam culture. You cannot make it big in Philippine showbiz without first starting off from a successful loveteam. Just look back at all the famous actors then and now (Vilma, Nora, Sharon, Judy Ann, Claudine, Bea, JLC, Piolo, Angel, Kathniel and Lizquen), everyone has started from a loveteam. Filipinos are in love with the idea of love, that kilig feeling, thus why lt movies do so well and will always continue to do so. Quality films will never take precedent over lt/kilig movies.

  60. it depends on the movie & let’s face it mahal ang sine & it’s their money so wala kang K para sabihan saan gagastusin & sino panonoorin.

  62. Well girl, hindi ka kasi charming and likeable and the image you project is pasexy and pacool pa. Marami ka pa kakaining bigas. You are lucky to be given projects, work hard on your craft. Someday it will pay off.

  68. i really dont like you thats why i will not watch your movie...

what if "sikat" kana.. edi maiirita ka na sa sarili mo nun kasi ung movie mo nalang tinatangkilik ng mga bata????

  69. Meron namang kumikita kahit walang big stars. Kita kita is an example.

Kasama dun yung magandang story, word of mouth, tapos pag ineffortan din yung marketing.

  71. Magaling kang actress Sue. Just hang in there and you’ll do well

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  73. Parang ang bitter bitter naman ni sue. Of course, manunuod ang tao ng gusto nilang artista. Kahit maganda ang kwento if di ko like yung bida, Ill never spend money on it. Bakit? I pay to be entertained. It is my koney and I get to decide who I spend it on.

  74. Hay naku, I think they only make movies in pinas for the fantards. And they are all the same bad, cheap, shallow and repetitive nonsense movies.
