Repost: Inquirer Issues Statement on Request of Removal of Articles on Pepsi Paloma Incident

INQUIRER.net US-based columnist Rodel Rodis has posted on his personal Facebook account a copy of the letter by Senate President Vicente Sotto III requesting that two articles he wrote in 2014 and has since been posted on INQUIRER.net be removed from the site.

Rodis also commented that if Inquirer agrees to his request, this would set a dangerous precedent.

INQUIRER.net believes it is within Sen. Sotto’s right to make this request, citing particularly his claims that the articles contain unverified facts and baseless allegations. Also, to be fair with the senator, he has relayed this request to INQUIRER.net much earlier through his staff.

We had received and have been receiving similar requests from people and organizations to have articles written about them and posted on the site be taken down, citing reasons ranging from inaccuracy to being unduly vilified in public and threatened with harm not only to them but also to their family. Some had filed libel suits. We have acted on these requests judiciously and made decisions based on our own investigation and based on our journalistic values and principles.

In relation to Sen. Sotto’s request, INQUIRER.net has not made any decision. This is also the reason why we’ve asked Mr. Rodis to comment on the request. He has replied to us by email which we received today (June 16, 2018). But his act of posting this request on social media is his own decision. INQUIRER.net has nothing to do with it.

    1. He is not guilty of the rape, he is guilty on getting the 3 criminals off the hook. Para na din syang accessory to the crime after the fact.

    2. Not enough evidence and baseless allegations that dont have solid back-up. If the rule of God is the law today these people would have been dead for bearing false witness but since its Satan's rule of law at work kahit anong isulat ng mga writers pwede nang walang consequences!

Magsama sama sila! Ginagawang tanga mga tao dahil pinagdidivide! Dapat mawala mga ito!

    4. 11:35 Pwede ba ang Libel dito? Kasuhan ni Tito Sotto kung hindi totoo!

    5. If, indeed, he did bear false witness against Sotto and his cohorts, then he will just have to wait until the time comes when he meets God, right? God’s justice, you say, also finds a way in our world. Yes, but it applies to all or everyone, even Sotto and his cohorts.

Shady....

    7. @12:40 Why wait? Obviously you are already conditioned by the system that Satan rules that was established by your religion the Roman Catholic. Ask yourself this why is it that The 10commandments is not the law of the land instead You have a constitution made by the Jesuits and Masons under Satans command?

    9. 1:15, are you suggesting that we implement a brutal sentence of death by stoning or public execution against the Inquirer writer who wrote about the story? Because according to you his articles were bearing false witness against TVJ.

    1. Not always. God is watching us, even from a distance. In the end, the golden rule still applies. What you sow, you reap. There's no escaping the universal rule of karma

    2. how did god and karma become connected?? different countries po ang pinanggalingan nila 😂😂😂. if ur god is truely a loving god, why is there suffering??? a loving god will not let his sheep die or suffer.

    3. 11:11 respect the beliefs of others. Di naman lahat naniniwala na God and karma is only applicable in certain countries gaya ng sinasabi mo. Evil exists kaya may suffering!

  6. 11:35, wrong. There was a strong evidence of a cover up. That was clear.

  7. If hindi totoo why be bothered? For several years the story was once classified as urban legend but now the truth is coming out. Even if the article is removed, the ghost of the past will haunt him forever.

    1. According to Tito Sotto, the allegations are baseless and stain his reputation. If I were in Tito Sotto's shoes, I wouldn't want to be linked to negative stories if I didn't do anything wrong. I am just replying on your comment from Tito Sotto's perspective.

    2. If they remove it, then the story will become about “the deleted stories and articles about Pepsi Paloma And Tito, Vic, and Joey.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

    3. Elle, if it was baseless as you claim it, then WHY DID VIC, JOEY AND RICHIE D HORSIE KNEEL DOWN ON EAT BULAGA TO ASK FORGIVENESS FROM PEPSI? Di ba admission of guilt na iyon? Pati sa newspapers noon, they issued a public apology for their "errors"? Kung talagang not guilty sila, then why have they been so silent through all these years? Bakit hindi nila idinemanda si Pepsi, Inquirer and the author of these articles? Bakit umamin yung henchman nila na si Ben Ulo for the disappearance of Pepsi after the incident? Dito daw binisita ni Tito Sotto ang 14 year old Pepsi to withdraw the charges against his brother and cohorts in exchange for a public apology, of course, with a loaded pistol on the table in front of her. LOL, in preparation yata for this ambition to become the next President. Unfortunately, it backfired.

    7. Truly @ 1059 I was a kid in grade school when that happened. Noong araw naman basta lunch time halos lahat naka tune in sa noon time show nila. In my young mind then takang taka ako bakit pwede na hindi sila makulong. Nalungkot pa nga ako kasi I liked TVJ as a kid. Meron pa ako picture with all 3 of them when I was 4 years old before all this happened. 1978 or 79 yun nag show sila sa Lantaka hotel sa Zamboanga, andun din kami that time and dami ko pictures with them. Madami from Generation X those born between 1961-1981 aware sa incident na to.
