Were you expecting eloquence from a less fortunate person? You couldn’t understand that other people who have less education tend to have difficulty expressing themselves? The fact is: you and your friends just simply DO NOT UNDERSTAND true compassion and empathy. No matter how poverty-stricken another person is, they should still be accorded respect to preserve their dignity, but you and your friends failed to understand this truth. Charity is inherent in certain people’s hearts, there are those who can genuinely understand the plight of the poor, regardless of the situation or lack of eloquence of the person in need, their charitable heart would never find another person’s poor life laughable.
Gretchen and her friends truly showed that this “gift-giving act” is exact that—An Act.
