The Liar + The Borrower = The Stylist

Many readers informed me that they were very much entertained by the story of The World's Biggest Liar. Some felt weird that he did not do his research before fabricating the top ten lies. Due to the overwhelming response of the story, I have decided to write a sequel and entitle it "The Borrower."

The stylist fabricated the lies to impress the people around him. He lies for the purpose of social climbing, for the people to think highly of him. Seriously, does he really have to impress other people because he is a stylist?

He is smart enough though to know that his lies will never be sufficient to convince people, so he had to use another deceptive strategy called borrowing. He borrows almost anything that he can use to show off to people and make them believe that he actually owns them. His list of favorite items to borrow would include cars, designer handbags, shades and other fashion accessories. Besides these material objects, he is also known for borrowing money and never giving it back.

Apart from his borrowing tactics, he also buys things from friends but never pays for them. Like this Hermes Herbag that he bought from a friend who is a bag seller. When the seller sent him messages, following up on the 90,000 Php payment, he informed the seller that he lost the bag. Does this mean that he no longer has to pay for the bag because he misplaced it? The seller was so surprised as to how he can lose such a big bag. Why can't he just return the bag? Did he sell the unpaid bag to get cash out of it?

In fairness to this stylist, his social climbing efforts have impressed a few gullible people in the fashion industry. One person I can think of is the editor in chief of a high end magazine who is actually considering him for a fashion editor post. I guess he is really an excellent actor for the editor to believe him. I just hope that mister editor does his assignment before making such a big mistake. This might be the worst decision of his career.

  1. I don't know the guy and I also don't want to know him either.
But guys like him are the reason why the people who are into fashion here in Manila have bad reputation for some.
For me, fashion is actually a form of luxury like entertainment. It isn't like food that we need everyday to live. But for me, a world without fashion is a bland life. A life without spice, without passion.
Guys like that are into fashion just to get into a higher social standing. As we say, "the social climbers", they have no love for fashion whatsoever.
    So pathetic.

  2. omg! I own a store in Legaspi Village, and a stylist borrowed from me for a shoot for FHM. Since she belongs to a good family, lives in Essensa, their family used to a own a chain of fast food local brand, and her pics are in the society pages and one fashion mags, I relented. She is also close to one top publishing company with many fashion/men/family mags under its umbrella. Nakakauto din ng mga editors in chief.

Much to our horror, no acknowledgment was done on the magazine, and she never returned ALL the items she borrowed worth 15K. If not because her brother and sister are my friends, we would have reported her to the police.

Daming napaso na stylists na sa amin. I only lend to people I know.

  5. Guys in fairnezz mabait at hindi at all kapal-muks si fastfood heiress/designer/stylist naman, baka kailangan lang siguro i-contact dun sa nakalimutan niya ibalik. Baka tuliro sa dami ng pinagkakaabalahan,

Yun namang: "May isang designer na nakasama dun sa listahan na yan na kumokopya lang ng mga designs sa magazine pati sa designers tapos she's going to claim na design niya yun, kaya pa la lagi may bago sa multiply site ng brand niya."(from Anon)---TOTOO YAN! MALDITA YANG BATANG YAN NAPAKA MATAPOBRE AT BINEBEFRIEND LANG ANG MGA "Co-Mayaman" PEOPLE NA FEELING NIYA KA LEVEL NIYA/KUNG DI KA "Co-Mayaman" PUES MAKE SURE I-FEATURE MO SIYA or mag Co-llaborate kayo AT BFF NA KAYO. Mahilig siya magparinig na kinoCOpyahan siya pero diba sino maniniwala na kumopya sa kanya si HERVE LEGER (hello bandage dresses!) at nangCOpya pa siya sa isang Co-emerging talent rin niya na si NL. Owell, lets all just try to Co-exist peacefully nalang.

  8. STYLISTS need to understand that the clothes they pull-out take up more than a day's work for some and could go up to a week's work for some pieces. Clothes don't magically appear when the designer wants to. We pay for fabrics, pattern- cutters, beaders, sewers, food, rent etc. That's why i take it personally when a stylist gets stuff from me and forgets to return or to give credit. It's a business. Stylists need to understand that if they are busy, so is the rest of the world. The world will actually continue to revolve w/o stylists, like it did not 15 years ago. But designers, ah the designers... Let's just say we were here before the age of stylists, and we'll still be here when they're gone.

  9. Masyadong maraming stylists na feeling, it's ridiculous.
There's probably only one out of all the famous ones (a guy) I haven't heard a bad thing about.

  10. That is why waivers are given out during pull-outs--they bond that person to a kind of responsibility.

  11. Guys about the heiress/stylist, of course she didn;t forget to return. That was 2-3 years ago and we begged her to return or pay. May promissory note pa. As my stylist friend told me, babes, 15k is peanuts to them, but that's a lot for you who's running a business.

I reported her to the magazine to no avail. They are not responsible for stylists period.
Most stylists who ruined our items paid up no questions asked. Itong si heiress makapal talaga.

So what about mabait? mabait sa lamok? Ako ang mabait bec di ko makaya na the police will go to Essensa to pick her up.So young and full of promise na napapako. And what face will I show to her brother whose been a long time friend na madalas ko ma bump into sa social gatherings, like at the Town and Country launch?
As a matter of fact, I saw her shadow there. Sige na nga, mabait pero makapal. WT. Di ko talaga kaya siyang ilublub even if that 15k would help me pay for rent and salary.

  14. @GG, I wasn't referring to you. I just took offense to a poster here that said huwag ng isama ang mga mababait. For me, Michael's blog is the great equalizer. Yung mga feeling untouchable or they think they can get away with whatever crimes or stupidity they are doing and sweep them under the rug, well, they better think again because Fashion Pulis is here.
@Fashion Pulis, it's already obvious who we are talking about. Just dig some more. :)

  19. GUYS, please be fair about comments regarding the sisters you are talking about. I know them personally, and have had several pieces made by them. All I can say is:

    1. None of my dresses/ or the pieces I have seen have ever been copied. And they refuse to copy. All items I own of their brand are made with care. Detail and attention was poured into them.

    2. Some imply that she was put on the list because of her "friend" - well, all i can say is that: IF SHE WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH, then she would NOT EVEN HAVE BEEN considered for the list at all.

    3. Professionalism wise, I have never had a problem with them - they are always there, very friendly & accomodating, a. HINDI NAGPAPA-ADVANCE *ahemmm* - (ACTUALLY, they never asked me for down payment even (!) until my dress was finished). b. They are always there personally to attend to you. c. They are nothing like the scary / flaky designer who re-labels (at all!!!)

    4. Both sisters are pretty in their own unique ways. I can't believe even looks are have gotten involved in this!

    5. Regarding their attitudes: I have never had a an unpleasant encounter with them. Maldita, Feeling, Matapobre.... I don't know where all of this is coming from (!) Especially low blows about their private lives as well! =)

    6. These are my personal opinions on all my experiences with them. They are a duo who are great to work with. They make beautiful pieces and have good professional manners and exceptional talent.

I love reading this blog, its super juicy! but it's when you encounter people whom you know personally being talked about like this! =(
    Sad =(

Makes me wonder how many commenters actually bother to be accurate with their statements.
