To Save Face, Actor Rushes to the Side of the Producer

To come up with an excellent movie, the director has to maximize available resources and that includes skills in motivating performers. That task is not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes, the ego plays a significant role in the flow of behind the scenes of a movie. When a performer believes in his/her superiority over the director, he/she might resent the way the latter gives instructions.
In a movie, Famed Director (FD) got challenged in motivating a talent in a movie. FD, having helmed some of the better movies in the industry in the past decade, could only work with what the producer has provided. While FD did not have any problems with the other talents, Proud Performer (PP) almost did.
Frustrated at the inability of PP to follow instructions, FD started giving PP a mouthful. The talk was obviously aimed at motivating PP to exert more effort. Similar scenes did not happen just once and FD did not mince words to draw the best from PP. However, when FD was again spewing at PP, PP noticed the presence of reporters on the set. Obviously, the reporters watched and heard everything FD said.
When PP realized the potential effect of such scene in write-ups for the movie, PP directly went to the producers. PP informed them that FD caused a scene that embarrassed him and he did not like it at all. Therefore, PP feared he would be again subjected to negative write ups on his acting.
To save PP’s face, the producer informed the other actors to say only praises at the acting improvement of PP if they are interviewed by the press. However, when it came to FD, any interview or speaking opportunity was immediately prevented. In short, FD was not allowed to say anything on the acting skills of PP.
