Investigations are often met with resistance, as the presumption of guilt seems to be synonymous with such action. However, investigations are also meant to clear anyone from accusations. Instead of ignoring leads, news departments evaluate the potential story behind a tip before going all out with resources to search for the truth.
When a network received a tip that Top Personality (TP) was allegedly included in an infamous list of drug coddlers, the station immediately, but quietly, took action to investigate TP. In addition, TP was allegedly part of the paylist of certain drug lords. Like other networks, the prestige of an independent news department is essential to the credibility of the station. Even though the network has top rating entertaining shows, the news department is its top priority. If their news department becomes tainted with biased reporting or investigating, the reputation of the entire station would go down the drain. Thus, the network is very careful in making sure the truth is set free.
What aroused doubt in TP, other than the alleged tip, was his attitude towards the issue of drugs. Instead of showing a strong stand against the drug menace, he often remains neutral in his discussion in his non-news shows. Moreover, his shows seem to avoid tackling the issue even though the drug problem, addicts, and other related cases are hot topics. While other public affairs shows in his network tackle drug matters, TP never does. Instead, his shows focus on other subject matters that are unrelated to drugs.
As of the moment, the investigation is still underway and TP is still appearing in various shows, as if everything is normal. Besides, the controversial list has yet to be released. In case the investigation turns positive and evidence supports the allegations against TP, then his entire career would definitely go down the drain. The network might ask him to leave quietly despite the fact that he is among the more popular personalities in their roster.
