Movie Review: My Rebound Girl

The love story centers on Rocky’s (Alex) misfortune in her relationships - that of being a consistent rebound girl by her exes. She soon gets tired of her predicament and decides to set rules for herself so as not to be trapped again in such a situation.
Rocky and her friends are setting up their coffee shop business and everyone takes pains in the nitty-gritty details to make it a close to perfect venture.Trying to find that perfect coffee blend takes a major turn in the story.
In comes Rich, a coffee farm grower who wants to salvage their family farm from being sold by his mother. He strikes a deal with Rocky’s group to be its coffee supplier and partner at the same time.
Both Rocky and Rich have just been through their breakups from their respective exes and despite provocation, they try to avoid falling for each other. However, it proves to be easier said than done, as they soon begin to show interest towards each other.
Deliberate or not, it is easy to note that Rocky’s character seems not far-fetched from Alex Gonzaga’s real image and persona. For the most part of the movie, Rocky keeps shouting and making faces, and shouting and making faces again - it’s a challenge to enjoy and be entertained by this movie. Save for the concluding part, there is hardly any scene that Alex’s character is sober. Indeed, there’s a big difference between being cute and being annoying.
Compounding it even more is her bossy character towards her business partners. Rocky seems to have the last say in everything, from the coffee blend to the coffee shop’s paint and interior - everything has to conform to her taste. Now who wants a business partner like that?
My Rebound Girl as per its press release says the movie will inspire people to not give up on love so easily despite the odds. Rich and Rocky are supposed to have fallen for each other but it’s hardly felt as the movie fails to capture that ’romance ’. Making it worse is when his ex, Sophia wants him back and he immediately succumbs to her spell, totally forgetting his commitment to Rocky. What inspiration can be had from that?
The movie is a bore, in fact, most scenes are filled with lengthy and irrelevant scenarios that you struggle not to fall asleep while watching.
Expectedly, Marco’s well-defined abs got its exposure in the movie, but it can only go so far. It cannot salvage the character that is lacking in his performance. For one, he is ill-focused and so self –conscious. It takes more than the physical to get things right – and that’s a no brainer.
Had the movie been carefully well-thought-out, the viewers would have been treated to a fresh-faced and unconventional love team, a breather from the ones we are constantly fed and conditioned to like. Unfortunately, Joseph Marco and Alex Gonzaga just don’t have the chemistry to pull it off.
If at all, the beautiful, refreshing shots at a coffee farm in Benguet prove to be the movie’s redemption.

Negating the Enthusiasm and Delight of Fans

A few weeks ago, fans were disappointed when a Famous Couple (FC) did not even bother to notice them prior to a show. FC was invited to perform at a venue in the premises of an upscale mall. When some workers of the mall heard that the celebrities were coming, they became excited. As fans, it would be such a treat to see FC up close and personal and within a real environment without cameras in tow and the regular groupie in the background.
Thus, the limited number of fans went to the path FC will walk by to reach the venue. Although the mall is busy, the pair was led via a not so crowded way. Hence, only those fans knew where to position themselves. Armed with their smartphones and other devices, the fans lined up ready to snap a photo.
As the organizers saw the small group was gathering, they immediately told the fans that what they intend to do was not allowed. Hence, the fans moved to a location that would enable them to see the couple, but without interfering with their way.
The fans were excited, as they knew the couple was on their way. Like typical of the fandom of FC, these fans were ready to scream, which was normally done. However, they were very disappointed. As FC walked by, they did not turn their heads. They looked ahead, no smiles, and not even a wave at people who had gathered to see them. Thus, any photo op was negated, as the small group of fans felt they were snubbed by their idols, no less.
Someone even remarked that the reason why the couple behaved that way was that no press was around and no network camera was there to capture their reaction. Moreover, the couple behaved similarly while abroad allegedly. Hence, the fans could not help but think that the couple was so different from the friendly and fan-loving pair they projected in front of the cameras.

Armed gunmen broke into Kim Kardashian's Paris apartment, taped her mouth shut and stole more than $10 million in jewelry and the emergency rippled quickly all the way to New York ... where Kanye bolted from the stage mid-concert.
There were 5 gunmen, posing as cops, who threatened the concierge and made him open the door to her room.
Our sources say at least 2 gunmen bound and gagged Kim with handcuffs and tape and then put her in the bathtub. We're told Kim begged them to spare her life, telling them she had babies at home.
The gunmen knew exactly what they were doing ... we're told they beelined it for her jewelry and took a $4.5 million ring and a jewelry box.
After the gunmen left she was able to break out of the restraints and called for help.
We're told Kim was badly shaken but unharmed, calling it "the worst moment in my life." She was interviewed by police and then hurriedly left Paris by private jet.
As for Kanye ... he was performing at the Meadows Festival in Queens, NY -- Yeezy was jamming in the middle of "Heartless" when he cut the music and made the announcement, stunning the crowd.
Hours before the robbery Kim posted video of her showing off outfits and wishing Blac Chyna a happy baby shower.
She was staying in a luxury apartment complex, in a room similar to this one.
