A classic example of the high cost of the meddling of a management team is the experience of a talented network discovery (ND). When ND became popular, the network thought ND was going to be their milking cow. The screaming fans seemed to be endless and they adored ND. However, even before the career of ND could fully take off, his management team started issuing demands. When the network could no longer stand the demands of the management team of ND, no project was given to ND. Thus, in a few months, ND was nothing but memory.
As no one wants to end up like ND, celebrities work harder these days. Besides, fans are now more demanding and want to be as near as their idols as possible through social media. Thus, Hot Talent (HT) has been moving from one assignment to another. HT does not even seem to mind the close proximity of his activities these days, as he continues to work hard.
During an out of town event, HT was invited to add more prestige. As the event was taking time, the Major Handler (MH) of HT started to ask if it would be possible to have HT perform earlier in the said event. The discussion was ensuing and thus, the director was called to resolve the matter. The director said that his best will be done to improve the pace of the event. However, the director insisted that HT should appear in a segment that was part of the original agreement.
Finally, a production assistant politely informed MH that HT would be next. Unexpectedly, MH said a mouthful at the staff and allegedly questioned the assistant if he knows him. To make matters worse, MH told the staff not to hurry them. At this point, the staff retorted that since he does not know MH, there was really no point in knowing him. Tension filled the air and instead of the event smoothly flowing, the audience had to wait. Meanwhile, as the discussion was going on, HT kept away and did not intervene. This lack of action on his part did not at all impress the people who witnessed the tension. They believed that things could have not reached too much tension had he stepped in.
When HT finally rendered his two songs, the backstage people were shocked when he gave a third song. After all, MH insinuated that they were in a hurry and the third song performance added to more time spent in the said event. The presence of a local political figure in the audience was deemed to be the reason for such performance.
To make sure HT lasts long enough in the business, perhaps, an assessment of the attitude of MH should be done. After all, lessons should be learned from previous experiences of almost-celebrities, such as ND.
