    1. But still, adding "I think" does not make any difference. Pia thought of it. Pia said it. Was it opinion? Yes. But what made it look like a fact is her addition of statistics kuno.

      Delete
    2. 1:22 SHE SAID 'I THINK' meaning she is not sure of the statistics. IT MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENCE when you're stating a fact, which GMA had made it sound like and merely conveying your opinion. There is a thin line between the two that's why she called their attention about the 2 words which made all the difference..

      Delete
    3. 1:22 you are stupid..what do you THINK?

  2. Hay naku! Ano pa nga ba aasahan nyo sa balitang may kinikilingan? Lol

    3. The fact na sinabi ni Pia yun eh embedded na ang "I think" sa statement nya. Why say something you don't think of anyway?

      Delete
    4. REALLY!?

      Delete
    5. Hahahah. Sarcasm at it's finest.

    7. Bigas from abscbn?? Where the hell did that come from. Last time i checked, it was gma bribing people from squatters area with noodles and sardines. #fact

      Delete
    8. Kalma lang pipol,i think this comment is just being sarcastic. And yeah, pia was really a class act,but even if she puts the words 'i think',doesnt change much what she's trying to convey. So not much harm done. I thought gma news was trying to distort her statement but then, she affirms that she made these pronouncements, the only difference is,it's just her opinion. Well pia,it's safe to say, majority of Filipinos share your sentiments. We are pro-American and we love anything that is from America. Anybody who says otherwise is a hypocrite.

    9. wag mo delete yang comment mo ha jake. "jake llevares: Bigas from abscbn?? Where the hell did that come from. Last time i checked, it was gma bribing people from squatters area with noodles and sardines. #fact" hahahaha

  4. Basta political issues madami aattack sayo pag nagkamali ka kahit sino ka pa. Kaya dapat wag magkakamali sa pagquote

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She should have steered clear of the issue, wag na nya idamay yung ibang tao sa opinion nya. She could have just said "Most people I know" instead of giving a percentage. She's not an expert on the matter, and it's a very sensitive topic.

      Delete
    2. 2:25 strongly agree, she shouldn't have said that. What does she know about this matter? Unless she was working with the NSO.

      Delete
    3. Kaya nga she said i think.

      Delete
    4. Agree. If she does not know the facts then she should not be quoting percentages. Why talk about political topics in the first place?

      Delete
    5. 6:41 Obviously she thought wrongly! She needs to learn the art of diplomacy, especially in topics that are highly sensitive. No amount of "I think"'s will change the fact that she stated a percentage and a position which she is not an expert of, and has to solid facts to back her up. She doesn't have to sell the US bases too much kahit na nasa US siya. She could have easily said that she doesn't mind having the US military in the Philippines but she will leave those discussions to the powers-that-be. And end it there, next topic na!

      Delete
    3. I do not understand paano sila napahiya. In this sense, mas nahihiya ako for Pia for suddenly playing safe with what she said.

      Delete
    4. 1:20 true. Biglang hugas kamay.

      Delete
  6. then you shouldn't have said it Pia. Much as i adore you, "I THINK" talking of something you have no basis about should be avoided as it will reflect on you indeed. what is your source for thinking about that 1% anyway?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Exactly. What is her source? Her own opinion? It is still what "she thinks" anyway.

      Delete

      Delete
  7. The "-@PiaWurtzbach" is as good as the "Pia Wurtzbach thinks.." Doesn't make any difference for me.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. the difference is you don't claim it as a proven fact if you put "i think"

      Delete
    2. Same banana 2:25, you think it then obviously you believe it and it will still reflect on you.

      Delete
    3. 2:25 even if you didnt claim it as a fact, it was just a quoted statement in which she really did say... I think

      Delete
    4. Huh, 2:25? So every opinion should be added with "I think" just so that the reader assumes it is not a fact?

      Delete
    5. anong kuda mo naman 2:25? i think nga diba eh di for you it is a fact. you dont think nman baks

      Delete
    6. infair, may point si 2:02.

      Delete
    7. iba un opinion sa fact. hay naku.

      Delete
    8. 2:02 she said na she's not sure. so I THINK it's not a fact. and I THINK she used "only 1%" as a metaphor.

      Delete
    9. 1:19 yeah I guess so.. sa dami ng gullible ngayon. tamo marami na kagad nag assume na fact yun sinabi ni pia.

      Delete
    3. 5:09, ikaw ang magtigil. Opinions that are ill-formed, uneducated, with the goal to misinform and discriminate are totally wrong. Freedom of expression has limitations, just so you know.

      Delete
    4. politics and religion are sensitive topics. If shes not 100 percent sure she could have used "it looks like majority of Filipinos..." sya na kasi nag sabi she wasn't sure..just a thought

    1. I do not see anything wrong with what they did.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Huh? Anong difference, ate? San mo naman natutunan ito?

      Delete
    2. Anon 1:16 p.m.

Personal opinion (and everyone has one) is just that. Their opinion. Personal opinions are not supported by personal or professional fact, they are what you THINK, your suggestive idea, you’re “Hey, if I was in your situation I would try or do this” – but should end by saying that it is only their opinion!

Magbasa at mag observe.

      Delete
    3. 1:10AM and 8:12PM, Having an opinion is one thing, but backing her opinion with a 1% statistical figure that was just taken from the crevices of her imagination is another thing. This is just not proper.[what if it was followed by this question: What makes up the 1% in your opinion?

Hello, Pia is also human. Why can't you guys accept that she makes blunders too? It's politically incorrect to give stats to such a sensitive topic, and I'm sure she's mature enough to accept this, hope her fans are too.

    1. Because she is Miss Universe 😊

      Delete
    2. 1:59, yes, because Ms Universe really plays a big role in the development and implementation of governmental policies.

    3. Ay mga beks, do not forget what Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta once said,

"I think pageants like the Miss Universe pageant gives us young women a platform to foray in the fields that we want to and forge ahead, be it entrepreneurship, be it the armed force, be it politics. It gives us a platform to voice our choices and opinions, and makes us strong, independent that we are today."

      Delete
  19. You should not have said it anyway Pia. You're playing semantics. Having "I think" in the statement would not make a big difference

    ReplyDelete
  20. Pia, adding "I think" does not change what you have said. Though yes, it is polite to add "I think", it only means you are afraid of the possible attack you may receive by making that uneducated opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  21. nung nabasa ko yan, it really caught my attention. pero instead of thinking about it negatively, it lead me to reading more of what it really is about. pia has a point nman in correcting, pero for me mas na curious ako sa kung anong content ng news. and besides, very minimal yung error and way way better naman ang gma news compares sa ibang local media.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pia, it makes no difference. Lasing ka ba?

    ReplyDelete
  27. duh...kahit ilagay mo pa ang "i think", that statement still came out of your mouth as it is. walang pinagbago.

    ReplyDelete

I still go for GMA sa news.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Whether you are sure or not, what you say is what you think and believe, Pia. What's to correct on the tagline then?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, it's true.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Haha, putting an 'I think' made no difference because you stated it anyway. And duh, you speak what's in your 'mind' -- redundant pa kung ilalagay pa.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wag puro kuda. may difference ang paglalagay ng I think sa statement, it means opinion niya yun, it could be right or wrong since walang factual evidence to support the claim. Very smart siya in pointing that out. Know the difference of I think, I know and I believe mga bakla para magets niyo yung point bago kayo kumuda.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Whatever you say is what you think, unless you are pointing out that someone said it or you have a source. The word "I think" will just make it redundant.

      Delete
    2. Girl, I have consulted comm practitioners about this. Wala talagang difference. Adding "I think" is redundant already kasi it is more of claiming ownership rather than saying it is a plain opinion (badly stated because without proof at all). It could have been subjective without the percentage, pero meron e and it became objective.

      Delete
  34. Yeah, headlines/tweeted headlines are meant to be catchy or sensational one liners, clickbait sometimes. I just think that by tweeting to GMA, Pia wants it be known/to emphasize that it's her opinion lest there's a backlash.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Nagiingat lang si Pia sa mga grupo na sobrang nagingay sa sagot nya about US presence.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Haynako, pia. Even with the "I think", it's a very misleading quote. Di ka authority dyan, and I bet you didnt study the issue in depth. We're proud of you but just refrain from making political statements, please.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kahit anong news outlet pa yan, kahit anong station, newspaper o tabloid.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 4:58, ikaw mag-isip isip. Even if you remove "I think", the fact still remains that she made that comment - with statistics pa. "I think" is never synonymous with "In my opinion." If she made the latter, then it would be better. Still, adding "I think" would put the burden of finding the evidence on her. What made her "think" and say that way? See, walang difference. And te, everyone thinks before they speak.

My professor makes "I think" statements because she is an expert on the topic, that is the complete difference here. Pia is in no way expert on what she said.

      Delete
    2. ANONG MAY DIFFERENCE? Teh, kahit may "I think" pa yan o wala, sinabi pa rin niya un.

Sige, gamitin natin yang chismosang kapitbahay mo. Kahit sabihin niya na "Patay na" or "I think patay na", it will generate the same response - "Paano mo nasabing patay na?"

      Delete
    3. So base sa logic mo baks, assumera pala si Pia ganern?! LOL LOL

      Delete
  38. It's just right that you called their attention regarding this matter. If they're going to quote you, they should've used your exact words WITH NO EDITS. Fix this GMA!

    ReplyDelete
  39. If this was ABS-CBN's headline e madami na namang froglets ang magpapaaki ng issue to the point na i-question pa ang credibility!

Sa totoo lang, sa Current Affairs show lang like I-Witness magaling ang GMA (read: sensationalize pa more) pero sa nNews e hindi naman masyado. Hindi ko ma-take ang pag deliver ni Mike Enriquez and Mel Tianco to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Im actually disappointed with what the current miss u is doing. Rather than hosting gigs, shouldn't she be spending her time doing her advocacy?

    ReplyDelete
  41. If you said something then you have thought about it. So GMA doesn't have to put the words "Pia thinks". LoL.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The fact that you said something means you have thought about it so GMA doesn't need to change a thing in the quote.

    ReplyDelete
  43. One of my profs in college would immediately call the attention of the student who would begin his/her answer with i think.he would say i dont care about what you think im asking you what is.so i think theres the diff

    ReplyDelete
  44. Including 'I think' in a sentence would not change the meaning at all but if you include,'im not sure' then that it would give a different totality of the statement...and its not misleading its just trying to be mysterious as to attract readers.. the most important is the article itself. it must be composed as how Pia told it as it is.

    ReplyDelete
  45. She still gave a percentage so may mali parin sa sagot niya, kahit may "I think" pa yan. She's the Miss Universe. People might believe everything that she has to say, personal opinion man yan o hindi.
