Mother Knows Best

“ In the performing arts, a stage mother is the mother of a child actor. The mother will often drive her child to auditions, make sure he or she is on the set on time, etc. The term stage mother sometimes has a negative connotation, suggesting that the individual is prone to obnoxiously demanding special treatment for her child, or suggesting that the individual has placed inappropriate pressure on her child to succeed. Some believe that a "stage mom" is vicariously living out her own dreams through her child. “
It’s a fact known to most. No matter how some showbiz mothers deny it… wittingly or unwittingly …they become stage mothers in the course of their children’s showbiz career. The temptation and pressure are just so great – and for obvious reason – her child star’s interest.
Stage mothers do everything in their power to protect their children. Which is why, as the she and her child begin to get more familiar with the industry, some mothers would level up - and designate themselves to be the child’s official manager — representing her child in all professional negotiations and services.
Showbiz watchers quip that The Mother TM of Teen Actress TA is one who kind of fits the label of a stage mother. Where you find TA, TM cannot be far behind. TM is described as overprotective of TA which is quite understandable at some point. To be fair, TM has not been dubbed as demanding ever since – until an Aggressive Star AS came into the picture.
TM and her camp have been allegedly annoyed with the comparison/s being made between TA and AS. TM feels that the image of her daughter TA is being compromised with the overzealous camp of AS who TM’s camp feels is riding on the popularity of TA.
Reportedly, since AS made her presence felt, there was alleged uneasiness on the part of TM. When TA was invited to guest in a television talk show, TM reportedly talked to the show’s host who is quite close to her. She allegedly made a specific request to the host not to compare TA and AS and to not make mention of TA’s alleged similarities with AS.
Instead, TM pointed out…and insisted… that AS’s real lookalike is not TA…but a half Filipina who won a singing contest abroad. Yes it is, no one and no one but TM knows what's best.
Case closed.

Turned Cold Feet

For years, Network Star NS had made it known publicly how she adheres to her strict upbringing. There is nothing she would do unless it had the green light from her parents. She is by and large, a very obedient daughter of very controlling parents who had gotten used to such. This explains why, unlike her peers, NS doesn't get to enjoy life and adventures that they do. In fact it was quite late for her age before she was allowed to have a Boyfriend BF. And when BF finally came, there was no turning back.
NS and BF were the epitome of an almost perfect relationship, one that was ideal. She was envied by girls for having the ultimatel partner in BF. Many even think that he was too good for her, as if saying that BF's caliber was fit for someone else better.
Amidst some challenges, NS and BF breezed through their relationship peacefully proving to one and all that they were made of sterner stuff. Observers were quite in awe of BF for his patience and bearing in handling their relationship. However, towards the latter part... privately...BF was getting to feel the heat. It began to dawn on him that things were not right.
For one, the restrictions set by NS' Guardians NG have been anything but pleasant. Hardly did BF feel he was someone they could trust in spite of the countless times he had proven otherwise. He felt that the years he had to put up with NG's tough and harsh conditions seemed nothing at all. Thus, little by little, BF was beginning to lose the excitement in their relationship.
But years earlier, he was reportedly considering proposing to NS, but he felt that the idea seemed unwelcome for NG as the 'environment' always felt discouraging. Gradually, BF was feeling that NS were either not comfortable with him or with his proposal - until the idea drifted away.
But of late, NG is allegedly sending quiet feelers to BF that the proposal is now okay and timely - but unfortunately, BF had allegedly turned cold feet. If at all, he would want it when he wants it - at his own terms and not because somebody else pushed for it. But reportedly, the truth is that the idea no longer excites BF as he is now belatedly beginning to realize what a life it would be to belong to such a family. Uh oh...
If at all, where will this leave NS? From hereon, do we expect a bombshell forthcoming?
