Arrogant Talent

Cute Talent (CT) gained fans because of his charms and a successful, but already defunct love team. The fans stayed on to support CT. CT has the looks and talent, and expectations were high. However, when CT was part of a show, reality set in.

During rehearsals, a Production Lead (PL) had a hard time with CT. Apparently, CT could not follow the routine. PL kept rehearsing the number as CT could not get the steps. Tired and irritated, CT fumed at PL and said that the demand for perfection was too much and they were not idiots, as they were performing to no one. The studio had no live audience due to the pandemic.

PL was shocked at the outburst of CT. CT calmed down and said he was just kidding. Too late. PL was hurt and did not bother with CT’s apology. PL stopped the rehearsals and said the number was to be stricken out of the final lineup.

When Major Head (MH) found out the decision of PL, an investigation took place. PL said that CT was hard to teach and had the gall to say awful statements at him. MH called CT, who admitted he was tired as the moves were too complicated.

However, MH could not allow the number to be removed. MH called Willing Substitute (WS). WS immediately learned the steps without any problems. Thus, the incident paved the way for his entry and the call slips were no longer sent to CT.

When Confident Actress (CA) found herself between staying and leaving, many factors led her to a life-changing decision. CA spent years under her Previous Management (PM). PM risked resources to build up CA from a nobody to a respected talent. PM gave CA challenging projects; some were hits and others were misses.

CA was offered a project by PM, which was considered another risky investment. CA was hesitant and sought counsel from Influential Elder (IE). IE allegedly advised CA not to accept the offer given the uncertainty of the times. IE presented CA an offer to work with the team.

CA informed PM that she decided to leave. PM tried to stop her by presenting her projects and assuring her status as a regular talent. To the shock of PM, CA wanted a guaranteed contract, which would assure her continuous pay regardless of project assignments. The higher bosses found out about CA’s demand and they felt insulted. They gave opportunities for CA’s career growth for many years. Besides, they had never let down CA in the past. The difficult times made her request inconsiderate. With CA’s attitude, they let her go.

Incidentally, the project CA turned down has already been rewritten for a new talent entry. PM can indeed move fast to ensure that talents will have breaks, as loyalty seems to be important these days.

Learning to Trust

Over the past weeks, Worrisome Actress (WA) and Cool Partner (CP) used the time to go on dates and make memories. As WA and CP are between jobs, they have time to bond and deepen their relationship. However, WA knows that CP will soon return to work and be locked in for a project.

The project included Hot Newbie (HN) and entailed daring scenes, as the target slot was for the night owls. Such scenes alarmed WA. WA worried that CP might be carried away with the scenes with HN. CP might enjoy himself too much and charm his way to HN.

To appease her apprehension, WA called a Production Staff (PS) and joked about PS looking over CP and ensuring he keeps his focus on work. PS did not mince words. Directly, PS said that WA’s request was difficult given that CP has a mind of his own. WA was stunned at the indifferent response. WA saved her face by saying she was joking. She merely wanted to ask how the production team was doing because she misses work as well.

Plan A did not work and thus, WA had to go to Plan B. This time, she tried to convince CP to drop out of the project. CP said that request would violate his contract and besides, they have done pre-production work already. If he backs out, he might not be given any more projects, as the network has too many talents wanting work.

As both plans failed and WA cannot keep an eye on CP, all she could do is trust him to behave and remain faithful until the completion of his project.

Over the past months, showbiz fans witnessed the moment of talents as a direct effect of the pandemic and other issues. The talents who moved cannot be blamed given that they were presented with lucrative offers and opportunities for career growth. Most talents who transferred needed the financial gains or visibility of their new station. Those who stayed put were lucky to be given work and thus merely took advantage of what was presented to them. Still, others opted for loyalty more than anything else and they remained optimistic that they will be given assignments soon.

Meanwhile, talents who made the move are realizing that the grass is not greener on the other side. Their efforts were futile in drawing viewership and advertisers. In a snap, things changed and the real picture was clear. Regardless of previous reputation in gaining fans, many talents were proven wrong. Despite good intentions for an industry that has been severely affected by the pandemic, the bottom line is still the return on investment. With expectations on viewership and advertising not met, heads started to roll.

The grapevine is abuzz that another program will soon be on the chopping block. Apparently, a program can be terminated any time if it does not generate revenue and the production will not have any liability. Hence, the talents and the team need to be on top of their game. The said program comprises talents who made the move despite having roots at where they left. Competition in the slot is tough and only the show that catches and sustains the audience dominates.

Water Under the Bridge

Words are powerful. Consequently, words of a celebrity can lead to rewards or consequences. Sometime ago, Involved Celebrity (IC) posted a few words, which may have sounded innocent and dismissed as a mere reaction by many. However, those words reached Seasoned Talent (ST) and his camp.

Persuasive Personality (PP), whose loyalty to ST is unfathomable, was much pained as well and thus, began the quest to get back at IC. Close relation of ST took time to communicate with PP and relayed their feelings. After the talk, PP vowed that IC will never be seen nor heard in the premises of the workplace.

Using contacts, PP talked to Higher Management (HM) and gave the cons on having IC stay among their ranks. HM felt PP was unfair, but did not push the argument further. PP retorted that the management was placed in an unfavorable position with IC’s project performances.

Allegedly, a threat to pull out ST was said if IC will remain in status quo. HM knew the consequences of PP’s words and extent of capability. PP’s words can wreak havoc in the big picture. Subsequently, the binding document was allowed to lapse and IC felt the lack of plans and support for the future from HM. Decisions had to be done and loyalty was cast aside.
