Kindly educate me and sorry agad di na naka review sa chika, what is the prob against the movie? Bakit naging controversial and may mga against sa plot? Sorry po uli di lang updated. Mejo busy sa life haha
I just discovered that the executive producers of the film are E.A. Rocha and Fernando Ortigas, both coming from long-entrenched Spanish mestizo landed families in the Philippines. This is not about personalities or making accusations against them as individuals. This is about understanding the powerful historical context behind who gets to shape our national narrative.
During Spanish colonization, the Philippines was controlled not directly by Madrid, but through local spanish elites, mestizo families, friars and landholding clans who accumulated vast wealth and political influence through the encomienda and hacienda systems. Under colonial law, land was often granted or claimed by these elites using the principle that as far as the eyes could see, land could be declared theirs. Indigenous Filipinos and native communities were dispossessed of ancestral lands, reduced to tenants on their own soil and placed under systems of tribute, forced labor and rent.
These elites were not passive observers of history. they were active beneficiaries and enforcers of colonial rule. Their influence carried through the american period and into the modern era, where landownership translated into political power, media influence and control over cultural institutions. Many of today’s largest estates and business centers originated from these colonial land grants. For example, Ortigas & Company traces its roots to these historical estates, which eventually developed into Ortigas center.
This is why it matters who produces films about Philippine history. When descendants of colonial-era landed families finance or shape films about our past, it is reasonable to critically examine the lens through which that history is being told. We must ask: Is the narrative aligned with the truth of our struggle against colonization or does it subtly sanitize, glorify or reinterpret events in favor of elite perspectives?
This is not about attacking individuals. It is about recognizing that throughout history, those who hold economic and social power have also controlled the writing and filming of history. If we do not question these narratives, we risk consuming propaganda disguised as patriotism. History is not just what happened; it is what we are allowed to remember.
Totoo yan sa ibang bansa ang focus from kinder to grade 3 are reading and story re- tell or tinatawag nating comprehension na you challenge young readers to explain the 5 W ‘s of retelling a story and every kids must demonstrate improve reading and comprehension skills as they move up a grade.
