      Delete
    6. go asians... last year crazy rich asians ngayon parasite nman ang trending. both mahusay infairness.

      Delete

    1. So? Kapag nakisawsaw sa panalo ng American films. Feeling american? Haha.

Yet wala namang comment sa mga taong mahilig sa Hollywood, Anime.. it’s basically the same thing. Just different country.

We are just happy for others success bawal na ba ngayon yun?

      Delete

      Delete
    4. Wag nman ganyan teh. Malaking karangalan mag best picture Ang non English film Tapos Asian movie pa!! Proud Lang peg namin

      Delete
    5. Proud ako na nanalo ang Parasite kasi Asian ako and partly they represented us (minority) sa Oscars. Isang magandang push to sa mga Asians to dream and do better. Who knows?!

      Delete
    6. huh? Wala naman yan sa nationality. Just let them appreciate quality cinema.

      Delete
    7. Grabe nman feeling korean agad???

      Delete
    8. Hindi pakikisawsaw yun. Asians deserve to celebrate this victory dahil yan ang kauna unahang Asian film na nanalo ng Best Picture sa Oscars. This will inspire more Asian filmmakers na gumawa ng magagandang pelikula. Hindi ba't Asian din ang Pinoy? Wag kasi masyado pairalin ang crab mentality.

      Delete

      Delete
    10. Bitter mo teh. Di ba pwedeng masaya lang mga pinoy na first time na nag best picture ang isang asian entry. Dahil dyan mas maraming asian actors and actresses, directors from asia ang pwede mabigyan ng break.🙄

      Delete

      Delete
    12. Wala namang masama dun. As a kdrama lover, happy ako na narecognize ang film nila kahit di ko pa napapanood yan sa dami na ng awards na nakuha nyan malamang maganda.

      Delete
    13. 2:50 OA rin kasi sa pagsamba yung ibang koreaboo to the point na binabagsak nila ang kapwa nila Pilipino

      Delete
    14. Sobrang sawsawera lang talaga ang mga Pinoy

      Delete
    15. 5:01 problema mo? Yung pagkapanalo na yun meaning it can open doors to other asian films like filipino films as well.

      Delete
    16. The foreign media are even calling it an “Asian win” but go off i guess

      Delete

      Delete
    18. Di ako nanood ng kdrama and never been a kpop fan. But I’ve seen only one korean movie, train to busan & it was good. But am so happy that a korean movie like Parasite won cz they somehow represent Asia, parang 1st time nangyari yun. All nominees deserved it but mas maging Happy tayo nanalo ang neighboring country natin. Huwag ka nang nega jan.

      Delete
    19. I've started watching kdrama since Winter Sonata. There are a lot of movies and tv series that are being adapted by US tv networks, one of those is The Good Doctor. The plots and storylines of the shows are really good. Cinematography is awesome, too. One thing I've noticed, they do not need to be love team or sell that there something going on between the lead actors just to get the ratings high. Pag hindi click sa Tao ang storyline or hindi gamay ng leads or supporting, makita agad sa reception ng tv viewers.

Pinoy cinema used to be great. We used to produce a lot of good quality movies, ngayon mangilan-ngilan na lang, pag nasali pa sa mga festival sila pa yung natatanggalan ng cinemas. Wny? Because people buy love teams and same old storylines. It will be difficult to have a good one to break into the mainstream cinemas.

I'm happy that Parasite won. It is not just because I love the actors but because of the story itself. And, most of all, it represent Asians. It is hard for Asian actors and actresses to get a break in Hollywood, this may be a way of saying, Asians can make good movies, too!

      Delete

      Delete
    21. Para makasawsaw lang ang sasabihin naman ngayon proud to be Asian

      Delete
    22. I rarely post anything in soc med. Pwedeng happy and proud lang since Asian tayo at kung napanood mo yun movie at nasiyahan ka.

      Delete
    23. 2:35, 2:06 di ko alam kung anong pinaghihimutok niyo sa pakikisawsaw ng mga pinoy dito? why the need to gatekeep? is it that deep?

      Delete
Well deserved. Wag kang bitter!

      Delete
    25. Wrong ka, we are also movie goers baks. We have the right to compare all the nominated movies. Gets mo ba yan.

      Delete

  5. Parasite desserved all their wins. Love Marriage story but Laura Dern's performance isn't that oscar worthy. I'm here pretending she won this for big little lies lol.

    2. True. Florence Pugh shouldve won or ScarJo for Best Supporting

      Delete
    3. I was rooting for Florence Pugh for best supporting actress too. But I already have a hunch that Laura Dern would win since she has already won from the other award giving bodies for the same movie.

    1. The Academy just wanted to stay relevant. Lalo na ngayon mas malakas ang clamor for diversity and equality dito sa US.

      Delete
    2. 4.35 Sad but true. I really liked the film and the message it wants to convey. And I really believe it deserves all the awards. Pero more than anything, it's the Academy trying to be relevant rather than being truly revolutionary. Let's see in the next years kung magiimprove ang representation.

      Delete

      Delete
    4. Yes this is true. Sometimes ang nanalo na films ay may kinalaman sa agenda ng Academy or ng industry during that year. It has always been like that. Also, may malaking financial backing (CJ Films) ang parasite to promote the movie.

      Delete
    5. Omg same sentiments!!!!! But good timing din for Parasite

    10. Iba kasi ang atake ng film. It was dark, disturbing and unusual. It doesn't get you entertained, it makes you think. Most people don't want movies like that.

      Delete
    11. i watched it last year with no expectations at all and no idea what it was... i was shocked to my core after watching it... it was a master class for me... how the movie is delivered and its underlying theme is truly amazing ... after i watched i told my friend it is something that will really make you think about life... does the end really justify the means?
its a dark deep movie, a true masterpiece

      Delete

      Delete
    13. That's your opinion 3:35. But after watching the film, I must say that I've never watched something like this before. It's so original. It's not the same old plot na pag mahirap api-apihan ka na lang. At kapag mayaman, dapat matapobre ang character.

      Delete
    14. 3:35 Baka pinanood mo lang siya on the surface level. Ika nga, "It's metaphorical."

      Delete
    15. Ganyan talaga baks! Only the intellectuals can appreciate it.

      Delete
If you have not seen the rest of the films, keep your opinion to yourself. If you have said that 1917 or Joker or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is better than Parasite because you saw all the films, you would have earned my respect. But no, dun ka sa nabasa mo lang at nasabi lang ng iba. Highest rated movie ang Parasite sa Rotten Tomatoes among all nominees at 99%.

      Delete
    17. Hmmm, it’s just the right time I guess because of diversity issue in Hollywood. Na guilty siguro and academy members kaya pinili nila.

    18. panong overated? eh it happened naman talaga. sample na lang ang mga ofw na kagaya ko na jumojowa ng foreign just to be rich. im pretty sure marami kayong kilalang pinay na may jowang afam. the question is bakit? is love or money? be honest.

    1. Yes! I thought “Joker” Ang mananalo. Napanood ko din Parasite, 1917, Ford vs Ferrari and The Irishman. I was surprised na Parasite ang nanalong Best Picture.

    2. If you have kept yourself abreast of all the awards shows before Oscar you'd know Joker didn't have a chance. The award was already locked in between 1917 and Parasite.

      Delete
    3. a long-deserved oscar for joaquin! dapat noong gladiator pa yan. but shall i say congrats to my fave brad pitt? deserve niya talaga! ❤️

      Delete
    4. It’s a good movie but feeling ko di talaga manalo ang Joker. Oscars usually picked movies with morale value ang ending.

      Delete
    5. Parasite os hands down the most deserving sa 9 nominees

      Delete
    6. Uy! Napanood ko din Joker. Galing ni Joaquin. In that movie, I realised kung bakit naging bad si Joker. I feel bad for him somehow. Parang he wasnt accepted and loved. :(

      Delete
I think Joker was great. It really was. But the message of Parasite was just more universal. Joker is the lowest rated movie among nominees sa Rotten Tomatoes, this coming from critics. But it's good that people see most of the movies for comparison not just one movie and say that's the best movie. I respect you for that.

Minsan parang trying hard. Minsan paulit-ulit din theme.

I love Parasite since before na mas napansin siya because of being nominated. Kaya I think to each his own. But parehas namin nagustuhan yung Parasite.

Ang taas ng expectation mo sa movie, but if you watch it during sa regular play sa sinehan, you kinda appreciate the movie. It’s just for me ha, observation lang.

      Delete
    13. Omg, 2:16! I am obsessed with the Before trilogy. Super passionate ako about those movies. The best movies but yeah, they're not for everyone. Those are intelligent movies, hindi sila pang shallow na audience.

      Delete
    14. True. It’s just showing the gap between the rich and the poor in South Korean society. And it’s not really a drama either, it’s a black comedy. 1917 should have won.

    15. Ano yung Before trilogy? Before Sunset, Before Sunrise? Loved them. No 3 act structure but I really enjoyed their conversations Jessie and Celine. But I felt bad for Before Midnight the marriage ruined the romance hahaha. All of a sudden the magic was gone between Jessie and Celine. That’s life

For me that's the reason medyo na iba sila.

The odds were in their favor. Pati na rin Kay Sam Mendes.

Hindi Lang talaga meant to be ang Oscar's Para sa kanila

    3. Flat lang yung 1917 for me. Hindi ako napaisip or naentertain. Hahaha. But maganda naman yung pagkagawa.

    3. At 5:19 PM - Napaisip din ako sa sinabi mo. Sa Pilipinas parang wala pa ngang director na mahahanay mo talaga sa ibang magaling na Asian directors like Akira Kurosawa, Chan-wook Park, Ang Lee, Wong Kar-Wai at etong si Bong Joon Ho. Si Brillante Mendoza siguro? Lino Brocka? Who do you think?

      Delete

      Delete
    5. 1.55 Lino Brocka made a name during his time. BTW, when I said "sensibility" it's not to demean out very own. What I'm saying is we don't have anyone who have the same style as BJH.

Also, if you've watched the Oscar's, Micky Lee, one of the producers pointed out the importance of the Korean audience in pushing the boundary of their filmmaking. They support their own. If we want to have storytellers who are as good and who can compete internationally, you need to build smarter moviegoers.

      Delete

    7. 3.32 Wealth gap in Korea and US is extreme. New York even has one of the highest rate of homelessness in the world. So no, the portrayal of what they call "ghost towns" in Seoul is legit.

      Delete
    8. Sadly 10:39, if the Korean audience demanded for better stories and films, ours back home seem to remain complacent with the unremarkable and mediocre films being churned out. With the same formulaic stories, predictable dialogues and actors selected more for their star quality rather than acting abilities. Not saying all as we have a quite few gems that do crop out from time to time. But generally, its still a long and arduous swim upstream for us if we want to compete internationally or go mainstream. And for that to happen, we need more discerning and intelligent audience.

    3. 5:08PM, 12:52AM Please don’t stereotype or put cinema fans in boxes. I enjoy the MCU and the ever incredulous Fast and Furious series, but I am able to appreciate films like Parasite as well (2019’s best film for me). Diversity in genre and interest may not be as common, but this generalization of yours isn’t a good look either. This is also the type of attitude that puts off an audience who may have some initial interest in learning to appreciate these films.

    4. I love Pulp Fiction but don’t like Parasite.

  24. Phoenix deserved that oscar. He should've won before for The Master.

Renee? No comment bc i haven't seen Judy yet.

Brad Pitt deserved that oscar for Ad Astra.

Laura Dern? She's good but not oscar worthy tho. JLo and that old woman in The Farewell are much better.

Parasite deserved. I was kinda hoping 1917 or FordVFerrari will win.

    1. Renee did a marvelous job as Judy Garland. I'm a huge fan of old MGM films, watched documentaries and read biographies kaya I can say, maganda yung portrayal niya kay Judy especially those years before her death nung struggling at laos na siya. It was a really sad story. Medyo distracting lang yung bibig ni Renee kasi parang she's always pursing her lips. Performance-wise, even the singing, she had it down to pat.

    2. Renee's acting was deserving as well. kuha nya ang pes at actingan ni judy garland talaga, pati yung singing voice.

  26. Congratulations to the cast and crew of Parasite! I've watched all nominees except Little Women and lahat magaganda. Joker's strength lies with Joaquin's performance and I'm not surprised he won. I'm glad he did. 1917 naman, incredible cinematography esp with one-camera technique used. Parang walang cut cut but the story has tremendous plot holes. Once upon a time, on the other hand is like a long montage to a gone era of hollywood and although not the most career-defining performance of Brad, his subtleties in the movie is a treat on screen. Jojo rabbit is one of my more personal favorites although its light-handed treatment of Nazis may put off some. Marriage story is an incredible depiction of divorce. Two popes and irishman, ford v ferrari-great din pero others are better.

Point is, matindi din kinalaban ng Parasite so for them to win is really an amazing feat. Its story is universal, it could have been made in anywhere but the message will still resonate with everyone. And they did it brilliantly. Regardless kung anong agenda ng Oscars for giving it to them, we can't discount the fact that it's a masterpiece. It may not appeal to everyone but I'm very happy with this year's results.

And yes, even yung kay Katherine Hepburn at June Allyson napanood ko na pati yung kay Winona Ryder kaya it was a bit of a challenge to garner some interest to see another adaptation when you already know the story so well. Plus back in my time, it was a required read.

  29. I super enjoyed this movie. Wala akong idea what this film is all about nung pinanuod ko kala ko it's about the spread of a disease because of the title na Parasite. Ako stand ko pareho lang sila, it's a parasitic relationship.

  30. There's a couple of past foreign films way better than Parasite such as Life Is Beautiful and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Nakajackpot lang ang Parasite ngayon because there's no tough competition this year and also may diversity issues and all so there's a huge element of luck for Parasite to have won major awards.

He got the Oscar recognition at his age where he looks at the world with a different perspective now Check out his Golden Globe speech when he won for Johnny Cash he talked differently. Now at his age, may lalim na. Check out also Joaquin’s speech for Screen Actors Guild recently where he won for Joker medyo comedy ang speech nya.

Kala mo simple lang story pero if you analyse the movie through its metaphorical layers, grabe mapapanganga ka sa sobrang talino, kahet pa comedy thriller ito. Sadly, this kind of movie will never happen in Philippine Cinema.
