    2. No this is a real issue you should educate yourself. At liza did admit Her mistake and will try to do better .

Mag-iiba tono mo. O

    4. are you black? no. that’s why your opinion is s nonfactor at this point. you cannot tell who and who should not be offended. you missed the point.

    5. Liza didn't even need to use Afro wig to look like Mel B, they could've just curled her hair with tight locks and high volume then let her wear leopard skin suit. Same effect without offensive undertones.

      Delete
    6. You need to get educated too.

Intindihin nyo kasi yung concept at context. Yun bang ginawa ni Liza e, meant to ridicule or mock the culture of black people? mas na-offend pa kayo kesa kay Mel B!!! I'm sure si scary Spice, she wouldn't mind, kasi it is actually a tribute to the Spice Girls. tingin nyo si Mel C, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton, would also raise hell because of that ad? e di ba sila rin ginaya ni Liza dyan? dami nyong alam e. di ko alam bakit kayo ang na-offend, di naman kayo spice girl! duh?

    8. Nothing offensive with what she said, masyado lang politically correct ang karamihan sa mga tao ngayon. Pag sinabing white facehindi offensive, pero pag black face daming nagrerecact!

    9. This is why I love this girl Liza! She owns up to her mistakes and humbly apologizes. None of which her contemporaries has the guts to do.

    1. False equivalence ginamit nya. Claiming na hindi lang black people ang pwedeng mag afro. fyi in history kasi white people used afro to demean and ridicule black people. Check images of gollywog by Jim Crow. It's a racist symbol.

    2. Sayo wala. Sa real world maling mali. You dont use the word black face. Try nyo kse magbabad mag aral kesa comment ng comment ng walang alam.

    1. In a way it’s insulting kasi if you want that “ black look”, why not get an actual black person? Why get a model with lighter color then make her black?

      Delete
    2. If a non black person purposely wanted to look black like putting on darker shade of foundation. Most black face literally used BLACK foundation to mock.

      Delete
    3. Black face, kaartehan ng mga pa woke. Yung di naman issue, ginagawang malaking issue.

      Delete
    4. Kaya nga. Ano ba yan?

      Delete
    5. Simplehan nalang natin kung hindi ka black ang you tried to be black. Parang pinaitim mo sarili mo dahil you are trying to be black ganun sya. In her case black face talaga yan kung nasa hollywood lang sya for sure nasama na sya sa cancelledt na tinatawag kase she’s trying to be MEL B e black yon.

      Delete
    6. 1:03 So black people often get ridiculed for wearing their hair naturally like an Afro but when someone of another race/ethnicity does it, it’s seen as being trendy or edgy. There’s a double standard.

      Delete
    7. This is more than that it is deeply rooted into racism and related to black culture. It was made to mock and degrading the black community by their oppressors so yes this is a big deal.but I believe liza made an honest mistake in her replies. Acting like Mel B was not the issue for me. Her replies were but she apologized for it so it is OK.

      Delete
Lalo na if youre endorsing huge companies.

      Delete
    9. Blackface is when you dress up as a black person or a person of color. As in super extreme na magppaint ka ng skin mo close to their skin color. I don’t what she did was blackface. She embodied Mel C in a respectful way naman. She didn’t do it to mock her race in any way. Siguro na off sila sa afro wig but that’s part of Mel C’s persona e.

      Delete
    10. Offensive yan. Sa Hollywood noon, very rare ang black na artista tapos some white actors paint their faces soot black with white lips and dance around. Even Judy Garland was guilty of this, search mo cya movie is Everybody Sing 1938.

      Delete
    11. 1:33 hindi naman si Liza ung nagsabi ng "black face" ung nag comment un nagsabi nun nireplyan nya lng kaya nasabi nya din ung word na black face kasi hindi pa nya na gets nung una na ganun pala un at nag sorry na sya dapat daw hndi na sya nag reply and she's thankful to everyone educating her about it

      Delete
    12. 1:12, Sana bago ka nag-comment ng ganyan. Inaral mo muna yung history ng black face. Liza apologized because what she said is wrong. Not unless, she's not sincere.

      Delete
    13. It’s an insult and cultural mockery.

      Delete
    14. 1:12 you say “pa-woke” like it’s a negative thing. i understand you love your idol, but this is not your argument, you are not black. black people had been ridiculed for years, and still are - even in the philippines, the aetas or anyone of darker/ mixed ethnicity (whitney tyson, wilma doesnt, etc) look around you. why not be like liza, and get educated?

      Delete

    1. 1:06 No need for you to say that she still has a lot of learning to do, because she already said that herself. People nowadays, can’t even get past the mistake even if the person has already apologized. Tsk tsk.

One, there’s no such thing as white oppression or reverse racism as what she tried to justify. Second, calling it a “costume” is offensive for it is part of the black culture. The afro hair is part of the black culture and having a white woman do it is a cultural appropriation.

Hindi namam nyan niriridicule yung black people or culture, it's just the way MEL is, mas offensive naman siguro kung iportray nya sya as white person. And please, stop telling other people to educate themselves, kayo aside from bekng educated, use your commkn sense din to discern what is offensive and what is not.

      Delete
  12. The post is harmless, but I’ll admit her second response wasn’t the best, I can see how it can be offensive despite her not intentionally meaning to do so. But the fact that she apologized and admitted needing to learn more about the subject speaks HIGHLY of her🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Others in her position would’ve never!

      Delete
  14. Glad she admitted her mistake. What she did or her make up artist did was indeed black face. And comparing the movie White Chicks to cultural appropriation just aint it. I dunno what came to her mind to even compare that. They couldve pulled off a Spice Girls parody without blackface, the Scary Spice hairstyle was a give away anyway. I hope her fans educated her too, not just netizens because her reasoning it out with White Chicks is just plain dumb of her.

Just be more understanding of the sensitivity of such kind of themes. I think Liza raised her point so if some disapproves it, there's nothing she can do about it.

    3. 2:19 by your logic, MJ was a black person who had a skin disease so he whitened it to conceal the skin disease. Anyone who impersonates MJ is at fault at cultural appropriation since he is black. Those caucasian white people who dress like MJ on holloween are at fault too. Can't people find some ground to not get offended easily?

      Delete
    4. 11:15 we are talking grimming your face here. When your white and using a dark tone is blackface. MJ was black but as you said become white for some reason. People dress as him did not have to change the color to match the character because he was already white. You need to understand first what blackface is really is before saying that. But I agree this subject is sensitive enough and whe need to find a fine line about it.

  42. It's very wrong. Liza should know better. She should have just apologized and admit she's still less educated about this. Her explaination symbolizes why people need to start being sensitive about these things. Education is the key. It should start with you, Liza.

  43. Yup blackface is racist. Pero di naman nya alam and nagapologize sya. Yung may mali dito yung magazine na gumawa nyan.

    1. The afro wig and her responses which were off are the issue here. It is not blackface but blackfishing.

    1. Kasi te walang reverse racism! Nagegets ba niyang utak mo yun?! Whites were never oppressed the way blacks were and still are. Cultural appropriation means stealing the culture of the people na inoppress, tapos they were mocked because of that very same culture na ninakaw sa kanila. Kelan sila minock on a systematic level ng dahil sa looks nila? Napaka ignorante mo nakakairita.

Susme. Facts over Feelings tayo mga bakla.

    2. Your comment reeks of privilege. So wala na pakelamanan mg bansa ganun ba te?

    3. 2:16 i remember one korean variety show na ginawang katatawanan ang pananamit ng mga native americans. Guess what? Laking issue niya. Hiningian pa sila ng public apology. Good thing kumabig ang idol mo. Remember, second strike na niya to. Remember the immigrant and refugee thing?

  52. cultural appropriation, cultural misrepresentation, racism, white privilege, third gender equality, religion etc - these are just examples of topics that i dont engage in becasue they only make everything complicated and make people fight. simply NO ONE owns anything. we are all made up of 23 pairs of chromosomes (except with aneuploidy) and when you die the texture of your hair or the color of your skin or your religious belief or your gender does not matter because we will all rot so dont be overly sensitive about it

    1. Ohh that's sweet you must live in wonderland to think like that because in real life these issues are real.black people are fighting these everyday and get stigmatize just for their skin color so your speech is really dumb.

      Delete
    2. 2:23 and you speaking for Black People is offensive. You think they can't voice out their opinion? Not all Black People think the same, so unless you are Black then you don't have any business telling everyone how they feel. Assuming Black People are offended is racist.

      Delete
    3. wow how disconnected and privileged that you have the option to not engage in these conversations. must be nice. you do not get to decide on how other people take this. to say that we are all the same to oppressed people (in any aspect) and poor people? that’s the same arguments that oppressors use to dismiss the oppressed. “equality”, yeah SUUUURE. you have it sweet.

  53. People nowadays stress themselves with anything and everything under the sun. The girl apologized, what else do you need from her? A lot of immature fans on social media especially twitter are dragging her name to the ground like she did a mortal sin. People, its a harmless comment. Yes, it was insensitive in her part. I am Liza’s fan and I can admit that it was insensitive of her to answer that no good basher but she owned up to it. She apologized. Get a freaking life! I’m pretty sure you all are just making a big deal out of this situation as well because she’s freaking Liza Soberano. Do your research, go back to other celebrities who literally did “black face” before before you castigate this person because she was just given a task for her TV ad.

    1. 2:55 for every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. For every comment, there will be a response and so on and so forth. Just like you, anybody who wants to comment will comment. Can I also tell you" get a life"? Dapat nga matuwa ka at May bago kang learnings, but i guess your idol can't do wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  55. To anyone accusing Liza of doing “black face”, you guys must be color blind because she did not make her face darker at all! All she did to portray Mel B was put on a wig!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Saw the commercial and she didn't do black face. However, her comments regarding black face and cultural appropriation is ignorant. But that's all it is, ignorance. So I'm glad she apologized and expressed that she is still learning about issues like this. More concerned that ad agencies here still don't have memos NOT TO DO BLACK FACE IN THEIR CAMPAIGNS.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Problema kay Liza, mahilig siya sumagot sa comments without assessing the situation first. The liability wasn't hers in the first place, coz IDK how this concept went thru several marketing and still got a heads up. Pero her defending it was what got her in trouble

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh please. Stop being offended for other people. This is so out of hand and annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  59. ilang beses pa ba magiging ignorante at tactless si liza regarding different issues... and then she'll get away with it kasi "maganda sya" he he he he

    ReplyDelete
  60. She did black face. Sa mga culturally ignorant, magbasa muna kayo before making 'pa woke' comments. Id rather be awake than stupid. Blackface is when you try to look black, paint your face black plus wear an afro. Blackface is meant to degrade the black skin color lalo na before. And yes, blacks can mimick white girls as much as they can call themselves the "n" word but if any other race calls them that then it is offensive. Blacks were at one point the most racially discriminated color. Wag feeling inosente ang iba dito, you all even discriminate kulay natin na kayumanggi, and because Liza is white and pretty you put her beauty on the top and put down the rest.

Even the way Liza answered was full of attitude, ang yabang. The white chicks movie is racist as well pero whats her point? Na she can do the same thing without being called for.

Her apology is a nice gesture but I can tell she is just alarmed na maraming nabwisit sa comments nya. Alam na, ayaw madumihan ang santang image. But cant stand the fact she thinks this was not blackface at all.

    ReplyDelete
Oh google what is whitewash ha. 😂

    ReplyDelete
  62. Whats with people nowadays, ang daming sobrang sensitive and pa-woke effect. FYI, she’s portraying Mel B, so paano magiging realistic yung portrayal if she cant look like Mel B! Wag kayo masyadong maarte at sensitive, because truth be told, ang mga Pinoy ay obsessed sa pagpapaputi! Kahit morena ka pa, wish you pa rin na fair-skinned morena, and not too dark!

    Ang aarte ha.

  65. the fact that she called "Mel B" look as a costume screams of so much ignorance... very much like her 'sinigang' comment. ganda lang tlg.

Kaya paano yun?
