    1. Hopefully you will never have to go through the struggle.

  3. Lea, hindi fat shaming ang ginawa sayo. You had to be a certain weight for the role. Don’t actors sometimes lose or gain weight for certain roles? Ikaw na mismo nagsabi na kim is supposed to be tiny. You already bagged the role, so stick to the weight.
Smh.

    1. So putting her weight on a chart up on a wall for everyone to see isn't? She auditioned for the role they loved her voice they already saw her so they knew what they were getting. You're such a hater. Grabe

    3. It takes such a small, limited mind to focus on that part of her message. She understands that and the level of scrutiny that came with it. It shows how she knows what it feels like to be judged for one’s weight. Please read the whole thing and see the positive message around it. As someone who has been struggling to lose weight to be healthy, I appreciate this very much. Knowing that Not only am I not alone in the journey but there are strangers who silently cheer along.

    4. Very true. They are hired to fit the roles that they are playing to be believable. She expected to be special yata.

    8. 2:53, Saying that she needed to stick to an acceptable weight for the role was not judging her, she had to be reminded to conform to what was expected of the role. I could say the same to you, that a small mind couldn’t grasp that that was not judging a person. There are rules to follow. Jeeez. Yes, her words are inspirational, but to make herself an example is so farfetched. She got the job as kim, therefore, stick to the rules of maintaining the weight, and if she was reminded all the time, then take it with a grain of salt. Look where it took her...She’s renowned all over the world. I don’t think those reminders about her weight have done any damage to her. She’s so confident in her own skin and it has been that way right from the start.

  5. Hmmm....but James calls himself as a fat person all the time. He makes jokes of his weight constantly. What gives?

  6. Well, if you are under contract to maintain a certain look, then you better honour that contract. Don’t complain after your hired.

  9. May subtle message yun.... Bawal tumaba at mataba... Yun lang yun

  10. Not to be mean but she is supposed fit the role. After all, Kim is a prostitute. She’s supposed to look good and appealing.

  11. Eh Ateng Lea hindi naman kasi kapanipaniwala na may chubby na dancer from Saigon during that era. War time yun and halos wala makain mga tao kaya nga napasok sa ganung work yun mga girls, out of desperation. Ewan ko sa yo. And baka ginugutom ka nila para mas lalo mo ma feel Yun role, o effective naman nanalo ka ng Tony.

  14. It was your responsibility Lea to be slim for Miss Saigon. Again key word is “responsibility”. It wasn’t fat shaming. You can’t be onion skin with the production’s procedures to monitor your weight. You ought to be professional. You exactly know what professionalism means.

  15. It wasn't fat shaming. From the beginning that was the requirement of the role that was given to you. If you can't abide then you shouldn't have taken on the role. Dinamay pa si Cameron McIntosh na nagbigay sa yo Ng opportunity.

  16. Ateng Lea own and be ready for the consequences of your post-- people in theater production who had helped you become who you are today.

    1. She was obviously gaining weight, that’s why they had to monitor her. Gets mo.

  19. Meh, she is talking apples and oranges situations here. It was her responsibility to maintain a certain look for the role as per her contract. Corden is talking about something else.

    ReplyDelete
  20. She even mentioned before in an interview that she was gaining weight specially around her thigh area. She was portraying a role where expectations has to be met, that was why she was monitored, it was a high stake production after all. Her example does not match the message she was trying to convey.
