      Delete
  2. Wrong Erik, the movie that makes money is the one that appeals to the viewer one way or another. Doesn't matter much how good or bad it is, it is still up to the viewer who decides to part with their money to watch it.

so purke di kumita e good movie na ?

    7. Another “bitter post” from Direk Matti.

      Delete
    8. Challenge dapat yan sa'yo Matti na gumawa ng pelikula na may quality at the same time susuportahan din ng masa. Gawin mo, wag kang magreklamo. Wag mong sisihin ang viewers.

      Delete
    9. But Hollywood films earn millions and most are not bad? So saan ilalagay ni Direk yun?

      Delete
  3. Para na Rin nyang sinabi na Pangit Ang Darna which will be a sure hit! Inunahan na Kasi Hindi na sya director.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Darna isnt shown yet. So there’s no comparison if it will make money or not. And how sure are u that its going to be a hit?

      Delete
    2. 12:53 because it's Darna! It's going to be a sure hit. Lalampasuhin nya ang vice movies and thou.

      Delete
    3. asa pa 12:42, umay na sa darna

      Delete
    4. 5:16 ok sabi mo e. halata ka kung sang fandom. somehow these toxic fans find a way to derail a post.

      Delete
Kahit sino pa hawing darna kikita becoz classic sya. Plus pang MMFF yan. Walang talo!

  9. I always judge a movie on how much I enjoyed watching it. Pag nasiyahan ako at gusto ko ulit panoorin, then for me maganda ang movie.

Parang sa pagkain lang... no matter the presentation, the question is always: masarap ba o hindi

    1. Gusto ng tao garbage, feed them garbage. Ganon 1:04?

      Delete
    2. Wow naman 8:23 AM, garbage talaga? What people enjoy watching e movies that are entertaining, di naman basura yun. Ive watched several of Vice's movies, and although di naman siya pang award, it was entertaining enough to be cosidered as basura. And if you ask me, mas mahirap magpatawa, comedic timing is difficult to achieve, it takes intelligence din.

      Delete
    3. 8:23 kaya ka siguro ganyan kairitable dahil puro ka pa intelligent nawalan ka na ng sense of humor, In short boring kang tao.

      Delete
    4. You nailed it, 10;19.

      Delete
    5. Agree! Gusto nalang mag de-stress ng tao, yung tipong no brainer, not because bobo sila, kundi dahil gusto lang marelax or ma good vibes. If he's after money, eh di alamin nya gusto ng target audience nya. Yung gusto ng masa. Eto namang si direk, gagawa ng quality movie nya, tapos eexpect for everyone to like it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. tanggapin mo na 2 ang kwalipikasyon ng movies. May mainstream at may indie movies.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I liked his last movie, the one with Anne Curtis. Buy Bust was good and I watched it sa sinehan.

    1. Poor thing. It's so boring. Di ko tinapos, naka 1/4 yata ako

      Delete
  15. But who are you to say it is a bad or good movie unless you've watched it without bias. The primary goal of movies is to entertain, now if your movie has a different goal it might not cater to all, thus does not make much money. If a movie is entertaining and viewers are satisfied then the movie has achieved its primary goal of keeping you momentarily away from reality and takes you in a creative/imaginative journey.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sure, but the people will get stuck with the same old kind of nonsense. Don't you want to elevate people's minds?

      Delete
    2. 8:27AM at the end of the day, it's the viewers choice if they want to elevate their minds. It has already been seen when Vice's and Vic's films werent shown during MMFF, di ba bumaba ang ticket sales? So meaning, tao pa rin masusunod kung ano gusto nila panuorin.

      Delete
Mind your own money!

      Delete
    4. 8:27 again as I mentioned the primary purpose of movies is "To Entertain" and the primary reason why moviegoers watch is to be entertained and momentarily escape reality. If you're looking for thought provoking materials then wait for them to produce one but as a business entity film outfits' secondary goal to entertain is to earn profits. Basic economics, if there is a market and high demand for such materials there will be willing suppliers. Mainstream movies cater to the demand for entertaining materials not thought provoking or what you call elevating people's minds. Also, you don't get to blame people for choosing to watch entertaining materials since it's their own money. If you want producers to put out what you want then support and attract more viewers with the same taste as you. You can't impose on people just because you want it to be sensible and elevating minds. Stop the attitude of belittling other's work and taste just because you think you are woke af and have set standards different from others.

      Delete
Who are you to dictate which film people would watch? ikinatalino mo yan???

      Delete
    6. 10:27 And how can you elevate their minds if they are conditioned to it through constant bombardment (short of mind conditioning) of low quality shows. Nakakaawa sila sa totoo lang.

      Delete
    7. Elevated na 12:48. Happy Christmas

      Delete
    8. Anong nakakaawa dun, 1:14? Their money, their choice. Not because it’s not ur cup of tea eh ganun na din dapa lahat.

      Delete
    9. 1:14 When people don't want to watch "thought provoking" movies, it does not necessarily mean that they don't want to elevate their minds. Daming sources to elevate their minds, like reading books and attending classes/seminars etc. Sometimes people just want to be entertained...nothing more, nothing less.

      Delete
    10. 8:27 do you think people will spend a lot for a movie which is experimental? kung gusto niyo i elevate ang kultura, ipapanood nyo yan sa mga tao for free.

      Delete
  16. Walang pangit na movie. It’s all relative. They’re made for entertainment and thought provoking purposes. If they achieved those Keribels na. Bonus na yung box office results. If you find it offensive sa taste mo, then don’t watch it. Obviously, they were made for people na trip ang mga ganyang movies. So wag na bitter. Merry Christmas!

  21. It’s called life Direk. Ganun talaga ang buhay. Fair or not, it is what it is, but doesn’t mean you work harder than these people whose movie are not your taste. It may not be your kind of movie but it is to others. There’s a lot of factors why certain movies make more than yours. Ganun talaga.

    2. 2:34 punta ka Hollywood or Bollywood.

    4. why would they care if rotten movies earns millions? it is inggit naman talaga di ba? they want to earn millions din but will not bend over backwards for the demand of buying public. juice colored if walang bumibili sa tinda mo dapat change tinda ka na di ba? if gusto mo kumita.

      Delete
  26. lol nothings wrong naman kung kumikita ang bad movie kasi they were produced with the profit in mind. ung mga ainasabi mo direk na good movies eh hindi naman kinoconsider if magigustuhan sya ng manonood or hindi so wag na kumuda if hindi kumita ang good movie mo kasi sinu ba target audience mo? wag mag paintellectual if naghahanap ka ng profit sa movie sinple as that. we the buying public will watch what we think is worth it sa money namin. hindi kayong mga producer at firector ang magdidikta kung anu ang dapat namin panoorin. ginagawa na nga yan dati sa mmff puro quality movie anyare? wala pa ding nanood di ba? kasi pera namin iun. wag mu kami bentahan ng ayaw namin dahil hindi kami mapipilit na bumili.

  27. ang hirap sa direktor na to, kala nya maganda mga movies nya. ang chaka ng BuyBust (watched from Netflix), hyped.. trying hard to be The Raid from Indonesia. Well, though I agree mas kumikita mga commercial movies, sad truth.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

      Delete
  28. It's a capitalist world mati, where the artistic value of the work needs to balance it's commercial aesthetics. Our world is chaotic enough that is why people often spend money to be entertained to escape from their daily lives. If you are really a brilliant director, give us a film which is a mixed of entertainment and intellectual artistry.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Paano ba masasabi na good o bad ang movie? Nasa nanonood yan diba.

Kung kumita man ang isang pelikula, its not because its good, pwedeng madami lang supporters ang mga bida. Kung di kumita, its not because its bad.

Direk, sorry ha pero I dont watch your movies. I dont think your movies are good.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Movies for me is something that should be enjoyed specially among your loved ones. Yung parang sa pagod at hirap ng araw mo, makakalimutan mo ang araw mo for just a couple of hours. I watched tons of movies that others didn't like. You are aloud to make an opinion pero wag igenaralize na everyone will think the same. Magkakaiba ang pagiisip natin.

    ReplyDelete

Let’s see!

  36. It is people’s right to spend their money and time on what they want. Money rewards the most entertaining and there are awards for films that achieve artistic excellence. A lot of the crap that modern artists pass off as “insights” are useless anyway especially now, most of these are to do with nonsense social justice issues

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  38. What is a good and a bad movie to begin with.
