In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual on Wednesday, Sta. Maria said it was her personal choice to wear a suit to the ball this year.
“It’s okay. I don’t mind. As long as naging komportable naman ako sa sinuot ko and happy naman ako sa suit na ginawa ni Joey Samson. Kung may mga tao na hindi nagkagusto, okay lang kasi opinyon naman nila 'yun eh,” she said.
Although some fashion observers found the androgynous look too drastic, Sta. Maria said what’s important is that she she was happy about her outfit.
“It was actually my idea na mag-suit. Basta sinabi lang namin na old Hollywood and we trust naman Joey Samson bilang batikan na designer. Maganda din and magaling ang kanyang work. Hinayaan namin siya sa sarili niyang rendition ng outfit,” she said.
“I don’t mind. Okay lang sa akin. Ang importante is naging masaya ako sa sinuot ko. Alam ko naman na hindi ko naman mapi-please ang lahat,” she added.
Sta. Maria said she felt the need to change her red-carpet style because for the past eight years, she has been wearing long gowns to the Star Magic Ball.
The idea of a suit is ok. I just dont like the crotch part.

DeleteI agree. Kung sa project runway nalait na ito. Maganda ang idea pero pangit ang execution. Siguro hindi nakapagfitting to.

DeleteThis is why I love Jodi. Humble and down to earth. Di gaya ng iba dyan na kailangan pa magsulat ng telanovela dahil hindi nila matanggap ang opinion ng iba. Deadma na lang diba? You can't make everyone happy.

ReplyDeleteOkay lang naman ah. Kakaumay din kasi na lahat na lang sila naka-gown. Hindi ko lang trip yung slacks, parang ill-fitting.

ReplyDeleteIts not bad at all! Not perfect, but not bad! :-) Siguro, kulang lang ng 'vavavoom' factor. Maybe tight fitting pants, deep neck, no tail - perfect na.
ReplyDeleteSana may maka remake ng suit na to, para mkita nila na maganda ang concept na to for jodi,ahit yung cape ok lang tlaga. Kaso joey samson really failed on this, ang pgka gawa ta cguro yung choice ng fabric. Sayang. May bago sana sa ball hindi luro long gowns.

ReplyDeleteI actually prefer her style statement to the typical laced and froufrou gowns starlets love to wear, some too tight, often quite skanky. She's an independent thinker, I like that,

ReplyDeleteFyi, the ball's theme is old hollywood, kaya ganyan ang suot niya, not sure though if ganyan nga mga pasyown noon, kesa nmn sa mga maka-flaunt ng curves and dresses eh wla nmn sa theme, what for pa na may theme ang event kung di rin lang nasunod, karamihan pa safe ang suot at pa-glamour, si bea,jodi and maja lang ata ang nag-stick sa theme di lang sa damit kundi payi sa hairdo. Ganernnn.
