Lovi Poe Finds Ally in Managers’ Group in Row with Erik Matti

A group of managers expressed their support for actress Lovi Poe and her manager Leo Dominguez after director Erik Matti’s scathing post on Facebook.

Members of the Professional Artist Managers, Inc. (PAMI) recently met and discussed the “social media tirade” of the director against Dominguez, a PAMI member, and Poe.

“After careful deliberation, PAMI expressed its support to Dominguez and condemned the reckless, arrogant, and vulgar statements of Matti in his social media account,” the group said in a statement to media.

Present during the meeting were Dolor Guevarra, Ethel Ramos, Norma Japitana, Girlie Rodis, Leo Dominguez, Aster Amoyo, Malou Choa-Fagar, Popoy Caritativo, Carlo Orosa, Veana Fores, Manny Valera, June Torrejon Rufino, Shirley Kuan, Ricky Gallardo, Angge Lee, Arnold Vegafria, Chit Ramos, Bettina Aspillaga, and Rowena Salido.

More than a week ago, Matti ranted on Facebook about Poe’s decision not to join the sequel of “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles.” Poe was originally the leading lady of Dingdong Dantes. However, in the sequel, Poe will only be part of the opening sequence which was supposed to be shot in just two days.

“For months now, we, the producers and the production, have been struggling to negotiate with Lovi and her managers to shoot the opening sequence. Over a month ago, we got word that she does not want to do it because it was just for two days,” Matti said in his post.

He said they tried to convince the actress to agree even if her signed contract stipulated that she should be ready to do three films.

“The final straw that made us decide it would be impossible to get Lovi Poe to do the role was when they said yes but demanded a ridiculous amount of money for it,” he added.

In his post, Matti said he did not want to put the film in a bad light but decided to reveal what happened because they could not find a replacement for Poe.

“I am pissed that a starlet like Lovi Poe would have the gall to go against the contract she signed just because she does not want to do a two-day role,” he said. “Just want to vent out my frustration at how these managers and starlets think so highly of themselves.”

He slammed Poe for allegedly claiming to be a “serious actor” after doing an independent film.

“This will be the last time I will get a talent from Leo Dominguez,” he said after pointing out that the sequel’s lead actress was Isabelle Daza who is also a talent of Dominguez.

    2. i don't agree with what lovi/her camp did pero hindi rin ako agree sa ginagawa ni erik matti. if he considers lovi a starlet and he looks down on her (based on how scathingly he used this adjective on her) why did he get her in the first place? and why was he willing to get her for a second and possibly a third installment pa? why go to all these lengths to destroy a starlet? kung mababang uri si lovi, ano na lang si erik matti? may kasabihan nga tayo, mas t*nga ang pumapatol sa isang t*nga...

  3. It just shows na mas makapangyarihan pa rin talaga ang kahit sinong artista (regardless kung starlet pa) over the director. Di nila na-gets yung point ni erik matti. Sana kasi natututo ang mga artista natin dto. Nakakalungkot lang

  5. Erik Matti has reach an all time low with his rant. A directorlet like him makes him cheap with his tirade. So unprofessional. Like a kid who lost his birdie. If you deem thinks that a starlet is unreplaceable. You should be willing to up your game and pay! That's how you do business especially show business.

    4. Walang napatunayan? Standing ovation sa Cannes ang OTJ. Plus the only film bought by an international distributor and bought by Columbia pics for remake. First film on netflix!

    9. Walang napatunayan? Kawawa ka naman, wala kang ka alam alam. Direk Eric's latest movie On The Job was critically reviewed by The NY Times, Hollywood Reporter, and Variety, among other things. Although I do not like Lovi Poe, because her demeanor screams, "sosyal ako", I find her a competent actress. Curious tuloy ako kung magkano ang TF na hinihingi nya.

  11. Please. "Moneygers" - sino ba kakampi kundi ang mga mukhang pera rin na 'yan?

And anyone who actually thinks Erik Matti is a "directorlet" or "wala pang napapatunayan" obviously have no idea what they are talking about and have no idea what real cinema is.
