Take It or Leave It
However, FE is indeed too good to be true. Prior to agreeing on a concept, FE has set ground rules. This basic rule is non-negotiable and sort of like a ‘take it or leave it’ condition. FE has said that he does not want to work with any of his former girlfriends. Although FE has great chemistry with his former lovers, his condition sticks regardless of the offer.
So far, advertisers have respected this condition. The reasons behind this requirement are two-fold. First, FE does not want to have awkward moments, as his former girlfriends all seemed to be the one. However, just as when the public thinks FE and that woman will settle down, the next day’s news is that they are no longer an item. Second, FE brings his Present Partner (PP) during his tapings, and potential encounters with the ex-partners of FE could add tension to the situation even if all parties have claimed to have moved on.
Sometime ago, FE made a decision that surprised his followers. The management announced a lineup and his name was not included. Thus, speculations emerged as to why FE decided to leave. According to the grapevine, FE hinted to the management that if he is going to be involved in the show, Other Talent (OT) should be dropped. In another ‘take it or leave it’ proposal, FE risked his future, and contrary to expectations, the production team did not take his bait. This time, he was told that OT could not be removed, as she does add a certain dimension to the show. Besides, their interaction would be minimal. Well, FE has his pride and no longer pursued this project. One thing was clear, the management chose OT over him. After all, they knew that FE had this condition to make sure PP would not be dragged in awkward moments.

As the concert day was nearing, the producer was worried as ticket sales were dismal. Accommodations and other arrangements were already made, which meant the producer had to recoup the investment. However, only a very minimal number of tickets have been sold at regular prices. Thus, the producer had no choice but to implement a discount scheme to attract buyers. Still, the sales were low. The fans were not buying tickets. The reality that the producer would encounter a loss was inevitable.
On the first night, the concert opened to a handful of fans. Most of the VIP and the orchestra sections were vacant, and the upper box area had few people. As a professional, WP performed and did not show her disappointment at the very low turnout of her concert. She performed with enthusiasm and as agreed upon. Nonetheless, the producer had no choice, but to cancel the second night, rather than subject WP to the same embarrassment.
Although WP had her fee, what bothered her was the low attendance of her concerts. Rarely does she go abroad for concerts and the turnout was disappointing. The expectation was that her overseas fans missed her enough to patronize her show. Sadly, that was not the case. The producer overestimated that WP would still be able to pull in the crowd, which usually happens during her Manila concerts. Sharing this disappointment was WP herself. She has long believed that despite her years in the entertainment industry, her fans, wherever they are in the world, would be eager to see her. The eagerness, however, did not materialize in ticket sales for that concert.
