Disheartened Actor DA is full of hurt these days. He thought he was given a new lease on his career after his last movie unexpectedly hit it big. DA was so thankful as the movie’s success came at the most opportune time, like a shot in the arm, just when he was already considering a plan B. It was a major turnaround for DA as the movie’s success paved the way for his current Television Series TS project.

However, DA never thought that the initial euphoria would be so short-lived. Soon TS’ ratings became discouraging – and alarming. Heard from the grapevine that a TV Executive TE had “notified” DA of the figures, citing reasons that TS may not be hitting its mass appeal. In showbiz parlance, it subtly meant that the ball is now on DA’s court to help fix it or else … see its untimely demise.

DA acknowledged, but he believed that had he been given enough support, things would have been different. Reportedly, DA gripes that unlike other network soaps where there’s a gathering of major stars, TS seems like an orphan left to survive on its own. With hardly any bankable star to help sustain viewers’ interest, TS is now gasping for breath…and rightly so. It’s short of saying that DA felt that the burden of TS’ ratings was left solely on his shoulders.

To be fair, DA did his part to nurture the show very well, but he said that he could only do so much. There was a problem with one production head which was remedied by replacing him, but it did little to arrest the ratings issue, as the script is allegedly ill-suited as well. Hence, DA reportedly raised his hands up and left it to TE and the production to do what they deem best.

Will we see TS bidding us adieu soon? Uh oh …whatever will be, will be.

Class or Crass?

As it is said, no amount of success or riches can compensate for failure in the home. Indeed, at any given time, peace and harmony in the family are non- negotiable. In typical Pinoy culture, we try hard in every way we can to salvage family relationships, because no matter how emotionally strong we are, failure and animosity at home can bring us down, one way or another.

But that is not so between Beleaguered Woman BW and her supposed Close Relative CR. The animosity and never-ending saga of these two personalities date back years ago when showbiz/gossip media would feast on them like vultures to its prey. Actually, anything about BW and CR is always good copy and juicy to the bite, so to speak.

There is no love lost between BW and CR as they have been at odds for so long. Their gap has been brewing for years and widened to unthinkable proportions - at the expense of their public reputation. With all the verbal tussle between them, friends of the family believe that damage to the relationship is already irreversible at best.

The two try very hard not to be in one place together, or worse to be seen together in public. It had been the situation for so long such that many important family occasions had to be sacrificed as a matter of course.

There were unconfirmed talks in the past that more than CR, it was BW who was more open for “friendship,” at the very least. BW knew well enough how it would happily impact on her loved ones. But unfortunately, there was no opportunity to bring it through, or no one brave enough to act as go-between for them.

Then one day, something came up surprisingly that could have conveniently realized it. At a certain place, they were surprised to see each other from a distance and both of them would be crossing each other. BW reportedly prepared herself for CR and got ready to at least acknowledge the latter. What happened next, although half-expected, still surprised BW.

When their bodies were about to face each other, CR just passed by BW as if she didn’t exist, and with chin up, haughtily looked up in the air. To those who saw her, it was yet another grand snub by the matriarch.
