He brought home 5 golds, 4 silvers, and 2 bronzes for the Philippines. An Olympian. A champion. A symbol of national pride. And yet… he still waits for his allowance. He still isn’t paid well. Meanwhile, there are people who do nothing—no training, no sacrifice, no flag on their chest—yet receive more support through programs like those (underserving) 4Ps members This is not to shame those in need, but to question: Why do our athletes, who give their blood, sweat, and tears for the country, get less than those who never had to fight for it on a world stage? We celebrate them when they win, then forget them when the applause fades. How long must they keep begging, while carrying the weight of our flag? The Filipino that the Philippines failed. And if this is how we treat our Olympians, what hope is there for the rest? 😔
