Just Making A Statement

For someone on the rise, every appearance is an opportunity to shine, prove, and gain momentum for his/her career. Thus, when Rising Newbie (RN) was informed that she would have a number with Popular Talent (PT), her reaction was that of excitement. PT has always been admired by fans and her performances are eagerly anticipated as well.
Prior to rehearsal, RN allegedly convinced the One in Charge (OC) to give her the highlights of her performance with PT. OC connived and gave RN the challenging parts of the song. When PT learned of the division of the lines, she did not pull rank and just said she was fine with the idea. Despite having more professional experience than RN, PT was very pleasant to her and did not display any diva attitude even though if she had, people would understand.
As the song was familiar with PT, she thought she was prepared for the number. However, RN had other things in mind and she took that few minutes like someone about to slay a dragon. She raised the bar two notches higher, which was not part of the instructions given to the band and RN. They did not even rehearse for that. The live band had no choice but to follow her lead, and they were quite upset because they had to make sure everything sounded right. The most surprised was PT, and she was in shock at the backstage for a few minutes. The production head had to appease her.
After the performance, the production head reprimanded RN for her stunt, which seemed to show that she was the only one in the segment. RN’s action was not well-received by the critical audience. Most feedback focused on how RN treated a guest badly. Instead of cooperating and blending, she seemed to have intentionally embarrassed PT. RN excused her performance by saying that she was carried away by the song, which was a flimsy excuse, as perceived by some.
PT was scheduled to appear on the show again. RN proposed for another showdown and said she will give way to PT for the high notes. However, PT refused to be in a number with RN and would rather not appear if the production would push the idea. This time, PT was given a solo number and RN was not in sight.

Cost of Caring

Despite many things said about him, Generous Son (GS) has always had the welfare of his family in mind. At a young age, GS joined showbiz for the fun of it and the public liked him. Since that point, GS continued to work and finally evolved into a highly competent performer. During those years, he traveled around with his parents and they eventually settled down overseas, as GS pursued his career in the local scene.
With his earnings, GS decided to purchase a gift for His Mother (HM). As his family would often come home as well, GS opted for the practical and invested in a unit in a highly popular city location. GS thought accommodation would not be a problem when HM comes over to visit, as there was already a place waiting for her.
At that time, GS was in a relationship with Network Talent (NT), who was influential in his mellowing down. As Close Relations (CR) of NT needed a place to stay one time, GS kindheartedly thought of his unit. His relationship with NT was a sure one and he felt that her family was his, so having CR stay there was not a major issue. It was supposed to be a temporary setup.
One time, HM came home and proceeded to her unit. She was shocked to see that someone else was occupying her “gift.” GS was told of the situation and he requested CR to leave the unit. Unfortunately, CR refused to budge. Her thinking was that since GS and NT are seriously involved, she can have that unit as hers. As the situation was getting awkward, GS had to explain to HM, but this talk turned to a shouting match.
Fast forward to years later. Although the confrontation and awkwardness happened, the relationship of GS and NT became more serious and have surpassed the issue.
