Sometime ago, attention was called when classmates of a celebrity claimed that a rising star then was much much older than she claimed. She had to claim to be a teen-ager, as she was part of a youth-oriented show. Denials were stopped when a yearbook resurfaced. Similarly, a seasoned actor was made younger by almost a decade to match his youthful looks when he was just starting out. The one who verified his age was a family member, who later kept quiet when he realized he might damage the career of the actor. Fortunately, these actors along with others overcame the age controversy and moved on with their careers.
Despite such incidents, the younger generation is expected to have learned from such deceitful practices. However, rumors are loud that a Young Newbie (YN) might not be a teen-ager, as claimed by her latest press releases. Allegedly, YN is around two to three years older than the age she and family would want the audience to believe.
YN was discovered in a show and immediately, she gained popularity as she appealed to the younger generation. Soon, a network signed her up and placed her among the roster of young hopefuls or talents who are dreaming of making it big in the industry. The question is if the network knows about such rumor and if YN has revealed any information about this matter.
Allegedly, prior to her entering showbiz, her family resorted to technology to delete all traces that could reveal her true age. Digital cleaning was conducted by experts hired by her family. By erasing tags, search terms, and photos, that part of her background recorded in cyberspace was gone without any trace. Well, YN comes from a very stable family, who went all out to support her venture in the entertainment industry even if that means redefining her past. In other words, her family has the means to make sure her showbiz career runs smoothly.

Just Quit While Ahead
Thus, CS was confident that she will always be the one for such jobs, and thereby secure her place in the network. However, the network started to seek for new talents in many of their shows. Of course, every talent search brings out the best from contestants, and as a result, CS was joined by many others, younger talents who had more powerful voices. So, CS had to step up the game, but still, she was the bigger star, and thus, there was no need to feel threatened.
One day, Underrated Performer (UP) joined the roster of talents of the network. UP is an impressive singer who has no problems reaching high notes and all. Like CS, UP is also a veteran of various local and international gigs. Hence, the confidence in her style was obvious. CS knew that UP was bound to move into her territory, and she was prepared for such eventuality.
In an event, CS and UP had the opportunity to show off their singing skills. Initially, CS asked if she could sing the last part of their number. She knew that she would impress the audience given the high notes. UP agreed, but said she would like a number where she could get to sing the high notes of a song. She requested if she could do that in the finale. CS raised the valid point of making sure everyone gets equal opportunity, and their other co-performers agreed. However, UP insisted that she should sing the finale.
The exchange between CS and UP escalated when CS finally revealed that they were just being patient with the request of UP, as they already wanted to go home. Being professionals, they went onstage. This time, CS gave her all and the audience clapped at the range of her voice. Nonetheless, UP would not allow it, and soon, she was singing the last bars of the number and raised the level a notch higher than the performance of CS.
When CS realized what happened, she was very disappointed, and she had hoped that UP would honor the agreement. It was too late, and UP overshadowed her performance, and once again placed her in an awkward position.
