This behavior is most glaring during dining. Whenever people dine in fancy restaurants, diners take a picture of the dish before saying grace. All diners are expected to stretch their patience and their hunger until after photos of the enticing food presentation have been taken.
One time, Celebrity Couple (CC) was spotted about to have dinner with their children. Over the past years, CC has been active in their social media accounts and thus, followers could glimpse at the everyday living and loving of CC. However, behind every photograph is a story. The Father (TF) is a seasoned celebrity, who is among the few celebrities who have hobbies beyond showbiz. Meanwhile, The Wife (TW) has done the rounds of the various stations until she found work in a station that highlighted her skills.
At the restaurant, CC and the kids waited for their orders to arrive. Allegedly, they will not begin eating until every dish is on the table. As the orders were coming in, the hunger of the kids became evident. Imagine one is hungry and the aroma of the dish hits the nostrils. Chances are, one will be enticed to get portions of the dish. Well, as far as CC is concerned, no one should touch the food prior to their taking a photo.
Unfortunately, one of the kids could not take it anymore and started to pick on the food. The design of the dish was ruined. When CC saw what happened to the dish, they were upset because the symmetry was no longer there. Thus, TF reprimanded the child, whom he told to wait until the photo opportunity was over. Meanwhile, TW scolded the nanny for letting the child lose.
However, the story does not end there. Given that social media seems to be more important than the hunger of their kids, CC returned the dish to the kitchen to have the chef fix the arrangement of the dish. When their order was finally complete and they were done with taking photos, the kids were finally able to eat.
‘Parents learn the uses of power and its limits. They can insist on certain outward behavior but cannot change inner attitudes. They can require obedience but not goodness - and certainly not love.’ - Philip Yancey
