It's a Deal!

In a modern home in a plush village lives the Kept Woman (KW) of a Powerful Person (PP). The alleged relationship of KW and PP has long been the subject of rumors. Doubts are cast on the veracity of the rumor as the image that KW has built throughout the years runs in contrast to her present role. Although she could have continued her visibility in the business, she opted to lie low and forget about being front of the cameras. Thus, KW choosing to be part of the women of PP seems unthinkable.

As PP owns the house where KS is staying, he can come and go as he pleases. One time, PP came over with a Potential Business Investor (BI). Fulfilling her role to the hilt, KW prepared food and entertained PP and BI. The men were talking about putting up a new business venture that will take advantage of the growth of this certain industry.

After dinner and over drinks, BI asked PP the relationship that he has with KW. Keeping a straight face, PP said that KW was one of the many women he kept. Being a foreigner, BI probably had no idea that KW was a celebrity. He then complemented the taste of PP in women, and PP asked BI if he found KW attractive. BI coyly admitted that he was smitten by the charms and looks of KW. PP then proposed to BI an offer that he did not refuse. The only question was how to implement the plan. PP naturally had something in mind and he knew exactly how to do it. After all, the success of the proposal meant a better business relationship for him and BI.

Later, KW joined the men and kept them company. KW is very articulate and is known for her wit, thus being with her will not be boring. They drank together and talked for hours until KW excused herself as she said she was feeling sleepy.

When morning came, KW awakened to a bad headache and a painful body. Her womanhood hurt, and she was no longer wearing any clothes. As soon as she was able, she called PP and asked what happened during the night. PP said that she was going to receive a large bonus because BI was happy with her. KW realized that she was drugged, as she could not remember what happened before sunrise. She was violated, as her body reverberated the pain.

KW could not do anything but cry. Eventually, she confided to a close friend, who advised her to take action. KW could file a case if she wanted to, but KW would have to be prepared. PP is very powerful and influential. He will not hesitate to take matters in his own hands, as he is wealthy and well connected. He never backs away from anyone who threatens him or his interests. Of course, the family of KW will be dragged into the mess and her reputation will be tarnished if she will seek justice. Going to the court will expose her relationship with PP and the media will have a feast.

When PP found out about KW’s plan, he reminded her that anyone who dared cross him would get his/her due. He stressed that PP should be wiser and not be stupid in thinking that she can expose and defeat him. She will lose everything, he told her.

While the walls of the house are the only witnesses to this unfolding search for justice, KW is torn between doing the right thing and allowing PP to continue with his ways. Which action will KW take? The saga unfolds.

Is This the Kissing Video that Caused the Split of Mika Reyes and Kiefer Ravena?

What was touted as the ideal merging of rival universities in the realm of love has reared its ugly head after Mika Reyes and Kiefer Ravena admitted they have broken up. The Lasallian and Atenean lovers were often watched more than the actual games they were playing in. A game with Reyes playing would always have the camera panning to where Ravena sat in the stadium. His presence in her DLSU games was always met with positive responses.

As soon as the breakup was confirmed, accusations regarding who was at fault were hurled at each other. Being celebrities in their own fields, fans have gotten into the fray and netizens have invaded the social media accounts of Reyes and Ravena. Details that were allegedly privy only to the couple were leaking into various accounts. Both parties were accused of having third parties as the reason for their breakup. In short, disloyalty and cheating were cited as the reasons by fans.

By contrast, Ravena merely cited his busy schedule as the major reason for the breakup. Participating in various basketball games in the next few months and appearing in a series for TV5 indeed will take much of his time. However, an anonymous source said that the reason was more than time.

Allegedly, Reyes was seen in a club engaged in a kiss with the swimmer she had allegedly previously dated. Ravena was not in the said club, but some of his friends witnessed the controversial behavior. These people then reported the incident to Ravena. Allegedly, a video of the said kiss was shown to Ravena. Eyewitnesses and a video were the apparent triggers to ending the short-lived romance.

Greetings!

I am one of the persons you have insulted in your comment “MADAMING AIDA DYAN HAHAHA”, this being said authorizes me to write an open letter for you and the rest of people like you.

I have learned from your twitter account @abenextdoor that attached after your name is two letters, MD. Hence, I would like to call your attention by reminding you of the General Principles of your Code of Ethics under Sec. 1 Art. 1 (Philippine Medical Association), which states “The primary objective of the practice of medicine is service to mankind irrespective of race, age, disease, disability, gender, sexual orientation, social standing, creed or political affiliation. xxx”

There are several more provisions of your Code of Ethics that you have violated through your tasteless remark. It is beyond the bounds of possibility that a young professional like you would forget the most basic duty being demanded to you by your profession.

I am not a linguist, but I am in a profession that demands a lot of readings and construction of words. In consideration of the language you have used, it is apparent that you were warning the other guy for people infected with HIV and AIDS roaming around JP Morgan Chase & Co. I don’t know how to properly address you, I cannot stomach calling you, your title, for your negligence to consider the foremost principle you have to be always reminded that is – not to discriminate.

Basing from your act of subconsciously leaving such remark, you are not capable to uphold the demands of the profession you have chosen. Again, I’m calling your attention to Sec. 2 Art. 1 of your Code of Ethics, which states, “A physician assumes the obligation of maintaining the honorable tradition that confers the well-deserved title of a friend of mankind.” From the foregoing facts, you failed to adhere to your call of duty to be a friend of mankind. Can you keep up with other Doctors who knows how to treat people like me infected with HIV better than the way you have treated us with your one liner comment?

I am not in the medical profession, but I know that my condition is a chronic disease; hence, it is a serious matter. It is an issue being addressed by the United Nations, World Health Organization, and our Government per se. If you are not aware as you’ve been apparently busy with other matters, that you even failed to review your Code of Ethics, Philippines today has one of the most alarming numbers in the increase as to HIV infection as per data collected by the Department of Health for the Month of May.These facts being said, I don’t know where to place your ignorance for a very delicate matter that you choose to laugh at considering you are in the medical profession.

Now, let me call your attention with our laws. Your comment was made under someone else’s profile who mentioned that he was in JP Morgan Chase & Co., then you said “MADAMING AIDA DYAN HAHAHA.” Even a grade one student would understand that what you were saying was this “JP MORGAN CHASE & CO., is a den for people with AIDS.” I don’t know where you got your data on this, but mind you, this comment under our law is tantamount to a criminal liability under Art 360 of the Revised Penal Code, it states that “Any person who shall PUBLISH, EXHIBIT, or cause the PUBLICATION or EXHIBITION of ANY DEFAMATION IN WRITING or by similar mean shall be responsible for the same. xxx”

There four essential elements of libel, namely: (1) The imputation must be defamatory; (2) The imputation must be made publicly; (3) The imputation must be malicious; and (4) The person defamed must be identifiable. All of which are present in the libelous remark you made in social networking.

If truth be told, that it was a joke, there can be no better title to address you than this A DENSE MINDED MEDICAL GRADUATE, until then, you’re just that. I don’t know you personally but basing from your ostentatious sense of humor I doubt if you deserve to be called a Doctor. You may earn your license or you may have it by now, but that does not align you from the likes of the Doctors who have been working hard for people like me and who have protected, sheltered, and defended us from people like you.

I cannot fathom the idea of entrusting our lives much more our society’s health welfare to you and the rest of your breed. But more than my fright of entrusting my life to you is the fear that your ignorance can no longer be cured because despite and regardless the years you have spent in the academe about our condition you neglected to recognize the intricacy of our condition. You have failed to understand and empathize to the labyrinthine disease that you merely referred as “AIDA.”

If in any way, you’ll escape through the legal causes of your actions, I bet that you won’t escape the horror of that day you made this single mistake of addressing our condition in an inappropriate manner.

Abe, I am an HIV-Positive, there is no cure for my disease, but I humbly ask you to cure your ignorance through proper education. Transcend more than what is written. People living with HIV are humans just like you, we have emotions as well, we get hurt, vulnerable, and people die due to complications brought by our condition. I am writing this open letter on behalf of those who have died due to aids related diseases.

I hope that one day, you’ll cross the bridge and choose to be enlightened rather than being left inside the box of ignorance that kills people like me.

Uber Driver Accused of Crime Speaks Out

Just yesterday, a post by Mrs. Borja about a scary incident with an Uber driver started making rounds on social media. Uber users were taken aback by the story and began sharing her post to warn others.

Her status makes complete sense. If I were in her daughter’s situation, I too would be scared silly. With all the crime and modus happening, we can’t blame her for freaking out when the driver stopped at a dark area and 2 men got in the car. ANYONE would freak out! Though the driver tried telling her that he just needed to go to the hospital, it’s not really that easy to just randomly trust someone today.

Mrs. Borja’s post went viral making several riders or would-be riders afraid to now use Uber.

A few hours later however, the driver of the said car, Kelvin, also took the social media to explain his side.

In hopes of clearing his name, Kelvin also posted photos of himself in the hospital to prove that no harm was intended.

We completely understand Mrs. Borja’s fear for her daughter’s life upon hearing of the incident, however let us also take note of the driver’s side in all this. He suffered from a possible stroke, something no one can anticipate. We’re pretty sure that both Mrs. Borja’s daughter and Kelvin were scared out of their wits with the whole fiasco. While Kelvin’s plan of having strangers drive his car to take him to the hospital may NOT have been the best idea, we are no place to judge what people might do when fearing for their lives. He may have thought this was the fastest/easiest way instead of waiting for an ambulance. At least now we know that what Kelvin told his passenger was the truth.

Disastrous Result for the Impatient and Agile

When Entrepreneur Performer (EP) puts his passion into an activity or a person, his close friends know that they have to stay clear and allow EP to do as he pleases. Not everyone knows that EP is an accomplished businessman and comes from a wealthy background, which also explains his passion for a very expensive hobby. EP is considered a pioneer when it comes to his unique business, which has also paved the way for some significant charity work. Then, at one point, EP was in the news for his hobby, but all issues and misunderstandings with certain authorities were clarified.

As a performer, EP has accomplished much as a stage actor, host, and singer. When he goes onstage, the audience is guaranteed full entertainment. However, despite all his accomplishments and reputation, EP has a weakness for love. People around him know that he can easily fall in love, and they cannot blame him.

A few months ago, EP was doing the rounds of media stations to introduce a Certain Talent (CT). Surprisingly, EP was being teased that CT must be so special for EP to be giving so much support and using his connections to make sure CT gets exposure. EP just smiled, but the smile had so many implications. True enough, in a few weeks, EP proposed to CT. Although his media pals wished the couple well, these same pals also expressed cynicism that everything went too fast.

True enough, news came out that EP and CT broke up, and several names having the same preference came up. Immediately, judgment was said that the third party was another Popular Performer (PP) and that CT was involved with him. However, the accusations towards PP were false. Whether it was done out of genuine care or some other agenda, PP squealed to EP that CT was still seeing some of his former lovers even after the engagement. Upon hearing such stories about his fiancée, EP was so disappointed that he could not believe that CT could do such unfaithfulness. Thus, he immediately broke off their engagement, as he could not take the escapades of CT that was told to him. EP probably thought that CT was man enough to settle down, but the events proved that CT was not all ready to stick to just one man. Sadly, both EP and CT are at losing ends. EP lost a lover and potential lifetime partner, whereas CT lost his manager and the network of support EP could have given him.

Everywhere, people are discovering that doing things more slowly often means doing them better and enjoying them more. It means living life instead of rushing through it. You can apply this to everything from food to parenting to work. - Carl Honore
